Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Ooooh, so you are more than fully leveraged and have put 200% of your net worth in to $TSLA. I'd like to see who has put their money where there mouth is. Got to be a "bigger" Elon fan somewhere /s

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I have a co-worker that let the 30 day trial pass without trying it. After I told them about it they are disappointed and will be getting a ride in my car shortly with the trial. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. I hadn't used FSD for a couple years and in my opinion...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I had a co-worker looking to buy an EV, asked me about a Mach-E vs. Tesla. I recommended they Turo each of them and then decide. After the Mach-E Turo they decided on a Model Y that gets delivered tomorrow. I agree that the opening of the supercharger network will be a great promotion for the...

Did they mistype the name Franz? My Tesla knowledge currently feels inadequate as I've never heard of Peter Blades before.

Didn't Tesla lump the Cybertruck in with S and X on the Q4 report? So yes, they did record deliveries but we have no idea how many.

    Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA - Old Mammoth Rd. (LIVE 24 Nov 2023, 12 V3 + 4 L2)

For many including me this is their destination. Arrive and charge to a full battery to use while in town. Also, I like to leave town with a full battery to minimize number of stops on the road home. Another scenario, lots of great places in town, why not enjoy them while your battery charges...

    Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA - Old Mammoth Rd. (LIVE 24 Nov 2023, 12 V3 + 4 L2)

@Tony8489 the cold soaked battery is likely the cause. I usually charge right when I arrive in Mammoth while the battery is still warm. Also, if you are coming from main lodge navigate to the supercharger and your battery will pre-condition enough to get faster charging rates. I think they...

    CPUC NEM 3.0 discussion

I gave a thumbs down to this because with NEM3.0 it is impossible to get net metering 1:1 with no TOU. Would love to see the numbers if you ran them with NEM3.0 rates though. I would guess it would be 20+ years payback with your EE knowledge. That only means for a standard installation by a...

My understanding from Drew's comment was that they switched the Model Y 4680 cell line over to producing the 10% higher energy density CT cells that will go in to the CT but I could be mistaken.

    Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA - Old Mammoth Rd. (LIVE 24 Nov 2023, 12 V3 + 4 L2)

I think your math is wrong and here is my explanation. You have to bill based on throughput not based on price per KWh. I'm not going to get into the complex math but use some round numbers for simplicity. Let's say a car costs $20 each time it fills at a supercharger and costs $15 each time it...

    Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA - Old Mammoth Rd. (LIVE 24 Nov 2023, 12 V3 + 4 L2)

Used the destination chargers this weekend. The striping shouldn't be too big of a deal since you have to park close enough to the plug to plug in. Agree they need to fix it but not too worried about it. As for the destination charger, it cost $0.33/kwh whereas the supercharger cost $0.39/kwh...

I'm sure the town of mammoth required this for the permits to be approved. I am hopeful that there is some semblance of etiquette here. I'll be testing them out this weekend. How do we get them covered in some nice fresh fluffy snow? it's pretty dry for "a big winter ahead" that everyone was...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I'm trying to recall what I heard but I believe there are CAN offshoots from the main network. The primary communication for the vehicle is an ethernet like gigabit ring network. CAN is too slow to do what Tesla wants for the main network.
  23. MountainRatMat

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well said, just a small clarification, Cybertruck isn't using CAN, it is using a network with gigabit speeds similar to ethernet.

    Leaving the car at 0%

That is correct, a single charge from 10% to 90% has a similar effect on aging to the battery as 8 charges from 50% to 60%. My general rule of thumb is don't get to 0%, don't get to 100% (or if you do don't leave it at 100% for any length of time) and enjoy the car. My daily charge percentage...

CT will hurt $TSLA short term until they get production ramped. I never tow and want a 500 mile version. I'll pay almost anything for range. I could care less about tri-motor, give me dual motor longest range. Range is King! Tesla's are already faster than I need. Osborning will not be a problem with a product like this, as long as the next version is...

I use my Model 3 in the snow pretty often and put the wipers in service mode and lift them up, really not too difficult in the current setup. Tesla would much rather have the wiper hidden for aerodynamics but the styling of the Cybertruck does not allow for it to be hidden without a complex...

Why does the frunk size get so much attention?
