Yes, you're 100% correct. They had a regular CA license plate in the back. (Didn't take pics of the VIN/plate - courtesy to the owner). Next time I see one, I'll shoot a few more pics of the outside, and some of the interior.
Howdy, spotted white model 3 charging (ChargePoint charger, level 2) in SF Sutter St garage basement yesterday. White paint color looks nice, even in the harsh artificial light.
Y.
Not 'why' but model Y would be cool.
Wife can get the 3 (she's driving ICE now but we'll convert her over). Muhahahhahahha.
"We are the EV owners. Lower your shields and surrender your ICE. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt...
Hear hear. I'm pissy at GM for their (mis)handling of the ignition fiasco and the fact that for every Bolt they sell, they then can sell a large, lumbering SUV or two (fleet mpg reqs). Whereas for every Tesla it sells it.... provides profit to plow back into selling more powerwalls, solar...
Don't forget, the majority wants trucks, not cars. Example:
Ford's F-Series pickup remained the bestselling vehicle in America in 2016, with 820,799 trucks sold. That's the equivalent of 93 trucks sold every hour. The Toyota Camry was the bestselling car, despite a 9.5% drop in sales to...
CA Chevy Volt leasee here, 24 months into a 36 mo lease. So far from Chevy, I have received one full page color mailed ad urging me to consider/buy a... Chevy Cruz. Not even another Volt. Nor a Bolt.
So is Chevy marketing really serious about keeping their current EV interested customer base...
Maybe used S or new Leaf. There's gonna be a lot of diff full EV 200 mi+ range cars in a few yrs. No worries. Although that supercharger thing sure is nice to have in a pinch... I imagine. :)
Howdy, welcome and congrats on your Tesla, what a great BDay present.
There's a ton of info and characters on the board here, always impressed by the honest analysis in most cases. Enjoy!
Some will hate it.
Some will like it.
Some won't care.
Some can buy a GPS and display speed wherever they position that GPS unit.
Agree we can all wait to see the final product. Maybe '....it will be a moo point. You know, a cow's opinion....' (Joey)
L2 quantity would help but also the charging rate ...wish other auto companies would step up on the rates.
Other EVs/plug ins, still have 3.3 / 3.6 kwh chargers so we end up occupying L2 spots a lot longer than we should/would like to.
Like the thought but the case: Tesla w/ 300 mile range, day trips out one-way 160 miles. Charge near home on your way back.... is that "long distance" travel?
Yes, you do it for rear passenger legroom and to expedite the side & middle person being able to get in and out quickly and safely. Wasn't there at the event but imagine they were doing everything as quickly as possible to get the most ppl into and out of the cars.
The hottest auto segment right now. Stock is going to go nuts if they have a timeframe and can point to similar build/production factors bt 3 and Y.
Feb 2017 cars sold: 502,300 Pickups: 216,100. Crossovers: 396,037.

Numbers don't matter as much as use cases.
IF you charge at home and don't take long trips often or (let's be realistic), have another car (ICE, yuck) for long trips then a supercharger isn't going to be impacted by your use case. I know a person who has a 2012 S that has never seen a...
What I fear at this point, however, is that the car will be too bland and will not be able to compete with other ICE cars in similar price/performance ranges.
Wake us up when the Chevy B/Volt, VW, and/or Leaf has autonomous driving, decent styling and a supercharger network. Your fears are...
If people are so fixated on having a screen in front of them, buy a large screen GPS unit that shows turn by turn directions and speed. Stick that near the front windshield.
Problem solved.
I'm old so yes, not having a display directly in front of me might be odd at first but so... so what...
Hi,
You might be able to take over someone's lease. Check craigslist or some of those take over lease sites. Most have you sign the lease w/ the original leasing company (transfer papers, $300 fee, etc) so less likely to be scammed/iffy.
Good luck! Let's hope it's only 12 months, rather...
Yep, anything significantly below the price point of an S/X but still with Tesla's charging network and autopilot is super compelling to a lot of people.
Would love to see every major manufacturer partner with Tesla and produce a joint product, like the Rav4 or the MB B class EV. Everyone wins... well except the oil companies.
"Over three hours on the road, I never saw a single head swivel toward the Chevy. That’s not a good sign."
For some, being invisible in a sea of parked/driving cars is just fine. For some, anonymity and lack of flash is fine.

Have both gas and electric with lines for each. Similar to how people will wait longer to sit in the front row of the coasters.
Then adjust cars mix (EV vs gas) accordingly over time.
:)
V nice. Good on noting that the supercharging rate is fast in a 60.
Minor quibble. Brakes are likely to be a low maintenance cost on a EV/Tesla. That's a safe assumption.
Looks good but then what would you expect from the guy (Ian Callum) who designed Aston Martins.
SUV market will remain hot. Good auto class to enter.
Good luck to them. Always welcome another SUV that doesn't burn oil.
Thanks.
If Musk said incorporating heating elements in the glass wouldn't be energy intensive when used, does that imply that there MIGHT be solar cells capable of generating electricity in the M3 glass? That'd be uhh... v v cool.
Musk:
Solar glass tiles can also incorporate heating...
It's not a comment on the specific car/part. I hope they do build it correctly.
It's a comment on how each co will handle a future problem going forward. Will they deny a safety issue, adopt a CYA mentality, and/or balk at fixing a 57 cent part as > 100 ppl pass b/c of it?
I forgot... .which of these two companies paid compensation for 124 deaths due to an ignition part that they balked at fixing for $0.57 per?
And a followup: which co is more likely to do that... again? Unfortunately?
I hate to go negative but safety and trust means something.
Politely eliminate their concerns one by one.
1) Frequency. I assume you don't charge v often. Point that out.
2) Cost. You can find the going kWH rate and offer to reimburse the association or donate that amount to a charity.
3) Safety. You're right - they should be up to code. You can...
Upon approaching any Chevy dealer:
Ask: "I'm interested in a Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy Bolt. Will the Bolt come standard with DC fast charging?"
If the response is:
a) "No, but I'll find out if it's going to be sold standalone or only in a package. Do you have a level 2 charger at home...
I too hope they're already secretly testing the (pardon the language) crap, out of some/most of the m3 components already (software, displays, drive units, etc).
He's perfected the automated charging snake. $4500 option. So auto park your Teslas into the garage and the snake will recharge your car.
Beat that BMW, Chevy, Benz, Mitsu, Ford!
[Elon] ... (drops mike on floor, walks away)....
I completely agree re: potential problems if they don't up build quality.
But as far as the judgement of auto CEOs, didn't the big 3 US automakers take private jets to Washington DC to ask for a bailout? And then were a bit surprised when most of the US citizens thought that was a knumbskull...
There's, as usual, good and bad points to this article:
1) Dealers are there to make money. Most money now is via service. Tesla (albeit they have had teething problems), isn't going to require the same level of service time and intervals as an ICE. Less need for dealers (note: Not saying...
Hi,
I charge a Volt every night at 11 pm (PG&E EV-A plan), shifted the dishwasher to nights and laundry to weekends. I don't really see a big diff in the normal/baseline PG&E bill other than being vaguely aware to defer said washer machines/etc to night use. My bill went up about $30/mo...
Many of us do a small arm pump whenever we hear about first deliveries. This past quarter, we had to do that 24,500 times. Boy are our arms tired.
Enjoy! :)
Looks sell cars (except of course for the new prius backend). Uhm... usu a big fan of porsche but c'mon you cannot be serious with how that front part of the car looks. Ugh. Lee.
Put a night time chime/alarm reminder on your phone/ipad. Problem solved.
I've never ever forgotten to charge (& I charge every day to stay electric - Chevy Volt). It becomes automatic after the last trip of the day - back in, hook up charger, set car alarm (I park outside). Beep beep.
Hmm say they ran it about one year, 6 days a week: (200,000/312 days --> 641 miles per work day). So half of the charging miles were gained at a supercharger.
Almost wish Tesla would've let them run it to 300K miles or buy the car from them and run it another 100-200K miles+.
A (long distance taxi/car hire) company ran a 2015 200K miles.
Key points:
6% battery degradation after 200K miles, charged to 100% every day.
No other major maintenance issues
Didn't replace brakes.
Tales from a Tesla Model S at 200k miles
So charging to 90% and running 200K+ miles...
