How much brake fluid do I need to bleed/flush?

Watch for the color change from the old to new fluid.

    Chill Mode usage

2018 3 LR 48,000 miles on first set of tires not on chill. Just above wear bars, but changed them as wet weather was on the way for October to May wet season. Rotated them twice. I hear of people only getting 15K out the OEM tires. Are they drifting on the way home every day?

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

No one tests the wipers unless it happens to be raining on test drive like no one tests the headlight until they own the car.

    Intercooled inverter?

Porsche has a "Turbo" Taycan, I have an intercooled inverter!

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

The wipers seem more sensitive after the last update, even to the point of "panic" wiping a couple times that I controlled by pressing the wash button.

Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

The cars I saw had 80,000+ miles on them so someone has been renting them and they have more miles than the average rental Avis sells at 20,000 to 50,000 miles. all the stories are HERTZ GETTING RID OF ELECTRICS when they are past time to sell. If they were worried about resale they should...

    Dog mode overheating

The temp showed 66 in the dog mode screen and on the phone. Outside temp was 48. I assumed dog mode would ventilate the car to get rid of dog breath and moisture, wasn't worried about the hairy dog getting cold. Was restrained in the rear on a doggie seat cover. Tuned AC off and cracked...

    Dog mode overheating

Parked in a parking garage at 48F, set to 66F in dog mode. Came back 2 hours later and it over 80F from the wave of hot air that came and my dog not happy. Phone and screen showed 66F and said heat was on for the dog. I have never used dog mode in a heating situation, only when it is hot...

All the warning lights came on while I was driving

3 years is typical life, I replaced mine proactively for $85 oem Tesla. Lasted 1 more year on grandkids powerwheels

All the warning lights came on while I was driving

How old is the 12V battery? They can produce wild error messages as they fail.

    Cabin filter access door!

Has anyone scanned the cabin filter door on early 3 and 3D printed one with the screw located at the bottom of the door for better access?

Help: Bosch Icon Wiper blades - can't seem to install them!

It will be hell getting it out! I got one and had to remove the arm and cut it into pieces. OEM Tesla for me now.

Both rear WSS and front end harness wires cut - a Nancy Drew Mystery

I know rodents need to chew and supposedly the "greener" soybean based plastic insulation is yummy to them. Bunnies is a new one! Good call with the cam setup.

12 volt battery dies without warning

UNLESS the battery is toast, shorted, open or too much internal resistance and the BMC will not charge it and will not supply 12vdc as it sees a major fault. If it is just low and takes a normal amp/volt charge you can get going after a jump.
  16. iwannam3

12 volt battery dies without warning

$209 at O'reillys and probably not correct battery. VS $85 at Tesla.
  17. iwannam3

12 volt battery dies without warning

No news there, thousands of posts on 12 V battery failure throwing weird errors or none at all. $85 gets you a new battery over the counter, 15 minutes to remove old one and install new one.

    Ohmmu 12V Battery Feedback

Looks like you are covering a hole. Is it a drain hole or bolt access or what is its purpose?
  20. iwannam3

Wipers Turning to Manual from Auto

An additional voice command of " set wiper sensitivity higher/lower" would resolve the issue since everyone has a different tolerance for rain on windshield. Washington weather is NOT like Fremont California.

    Y seat in a 3?

Yep, OG Tesla, Orange Gang! Easy to spot it in a parking lot in wet Washington!
  22. iwannam3

    Y seat in a 3?

I looked at a Y, but I have an early 3 with the cool orange water drops on the roof and free subscriptions etc and it's paid for. Getting my old butt up and off the seat is getting harder. Don't laugh, you will be there one day! I'm 6 feet, but lots of headroom.
  23. iwannam3

    Y seat in a 3?

I like the higher seat position on the model Y. Is there a Y seat rack part I can buy from Tesla that will bolt into my 3 and make me a "booster" seat? Or do I need to get a used Y seat? The parts have different #s. Y= 1107103-TX-J 3= 1119853-00-B but the image looks the same. Is the floor...

What components with Tesla outsource on the semi tractor?

Will Tesla be hydroforming the huge frame rails that make up the backbone of the semi or outsourcing to an established vendor? What about front and rear axle assembles from Dana or others? What else make sense to outsource for a low volume production line? Cab?

Passenger side wiper washer hose retention clip - where to find?

    3 or 4 electric motors?

I was shocked to see the Munro teardown and the cooling path was on the sides of the cans. I though the goal was to have heat and current flow the short path to the tabs and be collected there. I assumed top and bottom cooling. What happened?

    Semi regen?

In Oregon there are two mountain passes that have speed limits for trucks on the downhill side based on Gross Vehicle Weight. Deadman's Pass (Cabbage Patch hill) near Pendleton on I-84 and Siskiyou pass on I-5 both have severe speed restrictions. A fully loaded 80,000 pound rig max speed is 18...

    3 or 4 electric motors?

Did the presentation actually say what batteries would be in the semi? Everyone expects 4680 but then I heard 2160s somewhere.
  30. iwannam3

    3 or 4 electric motors?

I thought there were 4 Model 3 electric motors on the semi, now I see mention of 3? Would seem making two, 2 motor axles the same would be better than a 2 motor and a different 1 motor axle. What is right?

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

Simple solution voice command "Wiper sensitivity higher/lower". Wipers are the worst thing on my 3. Next to swerving right on autopilot at every merging on ramp.

    Tesla Tires at Costco

Tesla and Michelin put literally put hundreds of thousands of miles testing tread pattern, rubber compounds, sound attenuation and wear and you expect a tire salesman or some guy on the internet to proclaim which tire is best? I have over 40,000 miles on my Model 3 OEM tires and I will replace...

Sudden slow charging off NEMA 6-50 solved.

$99 is cheap insurance compared to burning garage/car/house down. The cheap ones are OK for intermittent use, a welder will have a 10 to 20% duty cycle but a Tesla can pull hard for 5 continuous hours.

Can we remove our radars now, since they're not used anymore?

The radar is shooting out particles photons in the electromagnetic range at the speed of light so there must be an equal and opposite reaction slowing the car . F=MA so the force is equal to the acceleration times the mass of the particles emitted by the radar.

Model 3 long range single motor?

And you got the roof glass that makes drops of water orange too! If it is an early one.

    Wiper arms that stay up?

My Model 3 wiper arms don't have the option of lifting up and latching over center keeping the wiper off the windshield. It's useful feature on most cars to keep the wipers from freezing onto the windshield during winter and when cleaning the glass. Are there any aftermarket arms that fit and...

Interior acoustics... the good and bad...

Back in the 60's dingle balls were all the rage in CA. Usually a strip around the window opening, but I saw one car that the entire headliner was row after row of dingle balls! They swayed with the lumpy idle of a big cam! Would have made me seasick to ride in it! But acoustically no sound...

    Model 3 Road Noise

Isn't the majority of noise coming from the hard 42 psi tires? Both acoustically from sound of tire/road impact and vibrations through the suspension? I HAD to drive the wife's Prius and was struck by how much quieter it is. I would give up 40 miles of range for a tire that would reduce the...

    12V battery replacement: Tesla Li-ion

It’s Over, Tesla is That Good!

Remember that miles per KWH decreases dramatically in cold/wet/windy weather. Put the trip in a better route planner with summer weather and then do it with COLD WINDY Canadian winter weather.

Model 3 inoperable after rain storm

And no core charge. And you can see it is a standard lead acid battery with a vent connected to a hose to discharge gasses and corrosive fumes below the car. NOT an AGM.

Serious 12v battery corrosion. 4,700 miles

the pH of Pepsi is 2.5, very acid! Not basic to neutralize acid from the battery. Baking soda and water is what you want. It will evolve CO2 when neutralizing acid. then rinse off with plain water.
  46. iwannam3

Serious 12v battery corrosion. 4,700 miles

See that thing sticking out to the right of "Part description 12 V battery" on the edge of the battery? THAT IS THE VENT! It pulls off the battery and there is a plug in the new battery that is removed and the vent is inserted. Failure of the seal at the negative post and/or plugged vent line...

Serious 12v battery corrosion. 4,700 miles

There is a reason for the corrosion, plugged vent or defective seal at the terminal post. This is not normal.
  48. iwannam3

Serious 12v battery corrosion. 4,700 miles

I bet the vent hose is kinked or plugged so internal pressure is building up. Maybe the cap was not removed and hose even hooked up at the factory. Check the hose!
