    Problem with energy display

Hi everyone, my 2015 has been acting pretty weird lately and one of the issues I noticed was that my Energy Display this spring was reading energy consumption approx 20% higher than what I would normally get each Spring. Usually in the spring I see my consumption at around 180 watts per km, but...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Thanks for everyone”s comments. One thing I forgot to mention is that my cat is in a heated garage and I set the temperature in the garage at around 10 degrees and so I don’t know why my car would need the battery to be warmed while I am charging? I also do try to schedule my charging to finish...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

This continual “tweaking” Tesla is very frustrating. With the last update I now see the coolant pump (or something) running almost continuously. There are a few things that I just don’t understand other than to think it is being done by Tesla as a way to get energy from the battery, which can...

1st Snow day for my Model 3 SR+ and for the season - lost control and bumped into divider

Mind you at that temperature with winters the ice feels more like driving on gravel than compared with driving on ice near freezing temps

1st Snow day for my Model 3 SR+ and for the season - lost control and bumped into divider

Like others have said, you need to have winter tires. It just adds an extra degree of safety. Sounds like you have them, but have not had time to put them on yet. I would not lose confidence in the car over this though, as you really need to see how the car operates with the winters on. I...

Can’t believe I read and scanned through all 291 pages :( Decided to switch to scanning once I started to see a lot of tangents being brought in and also a lot of back and forth about nothing. Sure wish people would not have wasted people’s time with such ridiculousness:( In any event...

    Too cold to start

I think the manual says at -30 cel for more than 24 hours make sure you plug it in. Everyone should check that and be sure to follow the suggestion. For me when it gets that cold and I am driving around or going shopping for long portions of time I have never had an issue and was thankful for...

    Replika R187 wheels causing issues..

I just read above mention of Kal Tire still doing the free change over and note that in Alberta they are changing their story and saying that their contract was never meant to be free change overs. I have gone to great lengths to inform them of how they misrepresented me at the time I bought as...

How reliable is your Model S?

My 2015 85d has been great with very few issues. I have about 35,000 KM on it now, and have no concerns. It has been a great reliable car and I’m coming from an LS460 which was rock solid.

Public Charging Etiquette - Unplugging Teslas from J1772s

Each time I see this thread it disappoints me. We should all exhibit good etiquette around chargers and charging. Like others, I leave my phone number on the dash on a card that says approximately what time I will be back. If I’m plugged in, leave my car and the charger alone. If you are...

Model S Tires - Give me your thoughts

I see you posted this at the beginning of March and sure hope you did not think winter was ending too early this year! Tesla Owners in Alberta

Happy to hear everything was ok. The conditions we have had these past two days have been pretty bad as we are having fresh snow on some pretty slick hard pack to ice. I feel these conditions are pushing the limits of my Nokia’s Hakas) at times.

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

I don’t really hate anything with my MS, but do wish that 1. My windshield washer worked a bit better on the lower centre part of my windshield. The issue seems to be my right nozzle just cannot spray this area very well (especially when the car is moving). It’s not a huge deal, but I just...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

Thanks for the post as it forced me to go back and try to find my source. I could not find anything. When I first posted my question on another thread here it was based off of a manual that I had pulle from the web and when I typed the post I went back and forth to make sure I was reading...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

That is what I was thinking and led me to question how they can overcome charging the battery in the cold if there is now way for the battery to heat first in order to not get damaged by charging when cold. I read here that you can charge a cold battery very very slowly and not cause damage...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

Here is an interesting find. The tempurature limits description in the owners manual reads differently for the model 3 than it does for the S. For the 3 it states to not expose the car to temperatures below minus 30 C for more than 24 hours. For the MS the description reads don’t leave the car...

Welcome and good luck with your purchase. I would Look up a guy named a Bjorn on this site and watch his winter videos with his old rear wheel drive model S. I think there are a few others that will tear this apart. All I can say is that I have just come out of my third really cold spell this winter and my model S performed just like any car I have owns in the past. In terms of winter performance are you using winter tires? Freezing rain, slush...

I’m assuming the security guard helpful? I think the mall might have made things worse with that barrier as people may have thought they were broke. They should put a no parking sign on the barrier maybe that might help.

I have not ones one, but did try to see if I could find one back in 2009. Unfortunately, there are not that many of these in Canada. I can’t recall but believe this was not sold here. A great car, but to be honest it is getting a bit old now.

    Model X Winter Experience

Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

Not sure I agree and more importantly not sure I said anything about a polar vortex. Also, then temp change from last week to this week was about 30 degrees F. Which is more extreme than the 10 degree difference you mention.

Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

Not only this but we are really only taking about driving in extreme situations. We get these types of very cold weather patterns only a four or five times a year. Given that I’m usually just commuting too and from work around this time of year I don’t really think much of it. Maybe a drive...

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

If he was wrong on his temps, he won’t be for long as the system that just left us that did see minus 20s to minus 30s here out west is heading out east I believe and so there will likely be more cold temps for them to enjoy.
  48. D

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

You were cutting things pretty close in terms of the extreme operating tempurature caution in the owners manual, which notes that the car should should be plugged in when the ambient tempurature Is less than minus 30 for more than 24 hours at a time.

Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

Is 170km round trip or one way? If round trip, I can’t believe you would be having an issue with that distance and your 100 model S? I would have done it with my 85. We just finished a cold spell that is likely on your way with minus 25 to minus 30 and the heater held up well.

Condensation on windshield on the inside

I find that when I get some moisture on the inside of the car that running the A/C helps get rid of things pretty well. I also try to avoid re circulating the air a bit. I also agree that when things get cold manually setting things works better than auto. However, I’m thinking you have a bit...
