I'd like factory track pack as an option and front bumper camera please

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

It's less about the money and more about having a car that is lighter, smaller, and more toss-able. Also the Model 3 cars have a lot more aftermarket accessories available.

Plaid does 60-120 mph in 3.8 seconds - allegedly. We need a M3Pl

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

This is very helpful thank you. Car seems great 0-80 but seemed sluggish 60-95. That is only one aspect of car enjoyment. Overall, was the car fun to drive? I like the look, the fact that it's a nimble car, and the price compared to a Plaid. But the more I see the more I'm leaning towards just...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I'm watching a lot of reviews and although it's a great "all-around" car, I'm not seeing many smiles or people commenting it is a "fun" to drive car. Am I misreading this?

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

That would be nice. My next Plaid i'm wondering if I'll go with 19" for more range but that also eliminates CCB. Or the package with 20" CCB/wheels/tires. Or the 21" with CCB. I'm liking the stealth gray and new seats.

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Surprising how much better people are saying track pack makes the brakes feel, yet others say it doesn't improve braking performance other than preventing fade with repeat stops. To clarify, by track pack do you mean brakes and tires package ($20k) or just the brakes?

What about the track pack makes you like the car more? How has the daily driving experience changed?

How can you transfer that? I thought the transfer of FSD/UFSC ended in March?

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

The Highland M3P needs about 300 more HP. I watched a few reviews and the reviewers seem to like the car but no one is blown away by the performance like the Plaid. Maybe the new Plaids get a better suspension? I have 21" on my current Plaid, wondering if the next one I should do 19s instead...

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

Interesting, I was under the impression that larger brakes would allow faster deceleration. As for limits of traction, I would assume the same limit applies to acceleration. Maybe a better ABS controller to modulate the limits. So in a perfectly tuned setup, acceleration and deceleration would...

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

Any idea on if the brakes on M3P are appropriate for the car? On the Plaid you really need the track package if you want the braking and acceleration balanced. The yoke is cool but I never got as good with it as a round steering wheel for spirited driving.

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

I love the top end pull of the Plaid. The interior, hatchback, and cargo are nice. The range is nice. As a daily driver, it's a heavy car and not a great suspension despite the "adaptive air suspension". Sound system is nice. I also feel the FSD on Plaid isn't quite as good as FSD on M3. The...

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

Anyone who drives a Tesla Model S Plaid planning on getting a 2024 M3P Highland? The specs seem a bit underwhelming. The Plaid is a heavy car but a brute at any speed. Curious when M3P test drives will be available, and if anyone has driven both?

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Oh new Plaids don't come with ultrasonic sensors? That would be super annoying. But maybe a front bumper camera makes up for it if you can see the wall. It's tempting but $16k a lot if I just keep the car another 1-2 years. If I was keeping it long term it would make sense. On the flip side it...

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

These are all great points. The only negatives seem to be the increased pedal travel until bite and the cost. Oh the third is the hassle of dealing with Tesla service center and their potential incompetence requiring a few back and forth visits, Uber rides, and wasted time. For me, in addition...

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

After the horrible brakes, my #2 complaint about the Plaid is the poor suspension. A car of that class needs better. It needs an active suspension, or at least a passive suspension that works. The car lacks torsional stiffness. You can feel how unsettled the car gets on rough roads. I wonder if...

    Why are service messages anonymous?

I hate getting SMS messages from Tesla or in the app. I have a variety of Tesla products and projects. I get random texts from people about various topics without a name or subject line. All Tesla communications get jumbled together into one thread. For service, you get an anonymous asshat...

Adding solar to existing NEM 1.0 system options

I am not getting definitive answers regarding "reset the clock" for a NEM1 system when getting a new NEM2 interconnection agreement. Another confounder is some NEM3 websites refer to a proposed retroactive limit of NEM1 or NEM2 to 15 years. Not sure how that would be fair.

Adding solar to existing NEM 1.0 system options

Not good that I won't get the full 20 years after switching if that's the case. If I go dual meter, not sure how I'd decide which loads go on which meter. Would assume I'd put the EVs on the TOU though to take advantage of lower "super off peak" rates.

Adding solar to existing NEM 1.0 system options

Hi, Looking for advice here on adding additional solar and switching from a smaller NEM 1.0 setup to a larger 2.0 setup. Background: I currently have a grid-tied 10kW system on NEM 1.0. I end up still requiring about 10,000 kWh from the grid a year costing me about $3,000/year on true-up...

    Plaid I feel everything

Make sure you're on medium ride height - not low. This makes a big difference IMO, but the car will never ride like a BMW or Mercedes. Not sure why the German cars just feel better. Poor ride quality is my #1 complaint about any Tesla I've owned.

    PPF or no PPF

I'm just saying it's not crazy to try to install PPF yourself. I've even painted portions of my cars myself (with zero experience) and it turned out nice. Your PPF guy sounds good though. My PPF installer was also very good, but the film itself seems lacking.
  41. O

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Oh I thought you meant physically somehow. My suspension settings don't persist but maybe you have to be in track mode for that? For example, if I want to keep the suspension high, it won't do that beyond 35mph.
  42. O

    PPF or no PPF

Likening installing PPF to implanting a pacemaker is non-sensical. One requires years of competitive training and licensure, the other, minimal training and no certifications. How about ceramic coating? The going rate to do that is $800-$1000, but it's easy to do oneself in a few hours.
  43. O

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

I'm not sure that's what he's referencing. We know the ride height can be temporarily changed up to certain speeds.

    How to improve Plaid suspension?

Oh interesting, didn't realize there was adjustability. What setting can be modified on the original shocks? Thanks!

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

I've owned every Tesla except the Model 3. None have had "good" suspensions compared to any luxury brand. At best the Tesla suspension has been "ok" for me. You get lots of head bob and diagonal rocking over bumps that I find super annoying. I've also driven the Ford MachE GT with magnetic...

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

I have or currently owned S, X, Y but not 3. Even my current Plaid lacks some luxury feel compared to the i4. Biggest lacking is quality control, flawless paint and fit, sound seals, HUD, and a suspension that feels like a high-end car rather than a rental. I hope Tesla ups its game in these...

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

With the 19" wheels you're good for 300 miles. I'm thinking about 350 Wh/mi compared to 300 Wh/mi for MS.

Thoughts on the BMW i4 M50?

My main interior gripe is rear seats are too small, trunk is a bit small, and lack of physical HVAC controls. That should have been retained.
