Gen 3 Wall Connector Power Sharing

Nevermind I just found this: Gen 3 Wall Charger - Power Sharing Looks like its not supported yet so I'll just set em to lower power outputs for now.

Gen 3 Wall Connector Power Sharing

Hello! I’ve installed two gen 3 wall connectors on a shared 50A circuit. My wife and I don’t drive too much so the 50A should be totally fine. I have them both configured. But I can’t tell how to configure them for power sharing? The installation guide says this is coming in a “future update”...

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

I bought the FSD upgrade at $3K for my 2017 AP2 car. Southern California. Anyone have any idea of typical wait for backordered FSD computer and when Tesla will reach out?

Power sharing with mixed gen2 + gen3 connectors

Hi, I can't find any clear information on this... can I do power sharing (or load sharing) between a gen2 and gen3 wall connector? Or should I purchase a 2nd gen2 model instead?

    Ground Clearance

Does anyone have any idea what the expected ground clearance of the roadster is? I want to reserve one and I'd probably send my wire for a founders edition tomorrow if I knew the answer to this. I have a driveway where even with the Model S (~5" clearance) I scrape the bottom every time I...

Steep driveway scraping bottom of Model S, okay?

Yeah. I dunno its not that crazy... I'll try to get a picture. When I enter/leave at an angle its fine. It touches but barely and it doesn't worry me at all. Its just kind of a PITA to do that every time (its not natural with this driveway since its kind of thin) so I'd rather just scrape it up...

Steep driveway scraping bottom of Model S, okay?

Great to hear. Yeah, I figure my concrete driveway is never (for a reasonable definition given a car) going to break down the metal rails. I'll be asking my service center soon though.
  8. M

Steep driveway scraping bottom of Model S, okay?

Just moved into a new home. I have a relatively steep downward facing driveway. At the top, my Model S bottoms out and it scrapes a bit. Will this cause damage to my car? The car bottoms out right in the middle/center of the car, not the front or back. I can't use a curb ramp because that's...

Blog Tesla to Remove Stalk-Confirm for Navigate on Autopilot

My hope is that the no-stalk introduction means that they also made significant improvements to NOA in general since the last release. We haven't seen a 2019 build yet so presumably there is going to be quite a lot of change in the underlying firmware since we'll be seeing roughly ~10 to ~15...

    Software Update 2018.39.6 8377b4d

I think it just hasn't happened yet. I'm on 32.2 as well. Actually my biggest question is why those of us on 32.2 never got the PIN-to-drive update. Haha.
  11. M

How long one has to wait to get the V9?

I still haven't received the update either. 32.2 over here. According to Teslafi if their sample size is large enough we're maybe at a 20% fleet rollout. Hopefully we get it soon. :(

    Software Update 2018.39.6 8377b4d

My AP2 car has been connected to wifi all night/day and I'm still on 32.2 :( Teslafi isn't showing much movement on AP2 32.2 cars... getting antsy. I wonder if I should call and ask.

    Version 9 on AP1

I'm an AP2 person but it appears no cars EXCEPT AP2.5 cars are getting the update currently. :(

    Software Update 2018.39.5 a1c2332 (first 9.0 release)

As far as I know, AP2 cars are not getting V9 yet. I mean, it still might happen today sometime, but it hasn't started yet.

    Software Update 2018.39.5 a1c2332 (first 9.0 release)

Also, it still seems zero AP2 cars have upgraded to v9 is this correct? Please Tesla mothership, please! (I'm also still on 32.2 so... send help.)

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

I think if more information was publicly available, more people would be open to this. Similar to the early iPhone hacking communities. There's a lot of Tesla owners with software backgrounds, including systems programming/debugging (me included), but speaking for myself: I don't have the...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

If you look only at the AP2 samples on Teslafi, 36.2 is still a low %. I'm AP2 and still on 32.2, have been for nearly a couple months. No sign of 36.2 or v9 in sight.

Early Access Program (overflow from 2018.39 4a3910f thread)

The point of the early adopters to me is that they're not quite sure how dangerous it might be. Of course they can't be 100% sure when its released either (I'm well aware of the Autosteer accidents/issues). I'm not claiming they will be. I'm only saying that I'm comfortable with the Tesla...

Early Access Program (overflow from 2018.39 4a3910f thread)

I want V9 as much as anyone and have been refreshing this thread constantly for updates, but I think this is a selfish point of view. While WE want V9 immediately and understand the BETA stamp, shipping new features of automation before sufficient validation has the potential to harm OTHERS. So...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

To @dennis_d or someone else who has accumulated more time on V9: does Autosteer recognize blinkers to handle people merging into your lane better? Elon mentioned that "blinker detection" was working as part of HIS software during the shareholders meeting a couple months back, and I wonder if...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

It shows you cars next to you and behind you now, just doesn't turn red until you turn on the blinker. My theory is because AP2.5 cameras have better color (it is a fact that AP2.5 cameras have better color, this was verified months ago in AP2.5 teardowns).
  23. M

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

Its been shown in the autonomous vehicles forum by damien and others that the color channels available in AP2 are more than enough to pull out sign colors very effectively. Obviously only Tesla knows if FSD needs the upgraded cameras, but it may be unnecessary.

    Neural Networks

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but the expectation is that V9 is probably using some form of "HD" maps (how HD is tbd) specifically for highways (Navigation on Autopilot). @jimmy_d above was only analyzing and discussion V8 NNs. I don't think anyone has gotten a hold of the new NNs yet. And no...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

Do you have any access to the owners manual for Navigate on Autopilot and other autopilot changes? A video would be great, too, but I'm curious how this works: "Navigate on Autopilot intelligently suggests lane changes to keep you on your route in addition to making adjustments so you don’t get...
  26. M

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

It is probably AP2.5 only because recall (verified with component teardowns) that AP2.5 cameras have an extra color channel so they're more honestly "full color" vs. AP2 cameras.

Seeing the world in autopilot, part deux

This is amazing. It would be fun (and probably sad/hilarious) to see what AP2 saw before 2018.10 if that was possible (when the big NN updates were). I expect that the quality improved dramatically but it'd add some good validation to that. I'm not sure if going back to an old person is...

    AP1 Updates?

I think the most accurate answer is "no one [outside of Tesla] really knows". I think the most common opinion is "no more significant updates." AP1 owners have noted improvements (and regressions) on control systems over the past couple years. So evidence points that there is still some...

    First look v.9!

There's a lot of negativity surrounding the one-app-a-time change. Sensible. But I actually predict this is necessary for Autopilot visibility/safety. Its been no secret that Autopilot will be heavily reliant on nav for more autonomy (from leaks to Elon's own remarks). I think at some point the...

    Software Update 2018.32.2 3817fdd

Each update rolls out differently. Tesla is able to target cars based on a variety of factors (S vs. X, battery size, location, etc.) and often do. There are usually lots of small rollout releases that only hit a low % of cars (based on ev-fw and so on). Every couple months or so there is a...

    Autopilot HW 3

As a software person, I always found the EAP/FSP distinction with 4 vs 8 cameras (original AP2 marketing) very strange. The distinction being "major highway" vs. "surface streets" is much clearer to me. /shrug I understand Tesla has not claimed this, its just an assumption, I'm just stating an...

New autonomy level coming in firmware 9.0?

Certainly, but given his recent-ish talk (Software 2.0 or w/e it was titled), I believe there is also a focus on car behavior prediction. For example, he noted working on "blinker detection" but also noted that its hard because people don't always turn it on... Elon also noted in the...

    2018.26 3bbd9fd .-

My optimistic outlook on the versioning and the lack of recent updates is that Tesla is currently doing "the big 9.0 merge" (merge in the software dev sense: merging the dev branch into staging/mainline) and are starting a big validation and QA process that I imagine will continue for awhile...

    2018.21 0fa48d9

Can someone with 21.9 clarify: the changelog says "when TACC is enabled" but does the curve and exit speed handling occur with Autosteer as well? There are a couple exits and interchanges in my area that don't require a lane change so AS will drive directly into them, and wondering if it'll slow...

Yes, if you didn't react to only the bottom nag fast enough. I'm actually really excited about the top bar nag since as others have said, in my steering wheel position and my height, I actually can't see the bottom nag so if I'm being nagged I only find out when the whole screen flashes. I'll...

Key Fob Low Battery Alert Won't Reset

You can also walk into your local service center and they'll hand you new batteries for free. I live two blocks away from a service center and the couple times my fob has run low I've just done that. Doesn't waste much of their time since they just hand them to you and off you go.

    Neural Networks

I agree completely. I was going to note this, too. I believe "blue car" tracking is mostly gone. It only appears for a minuscule flash of time very rarely but for the most part I believe 2018.10.4 is using the environment (including cars on the side) to dynamically change the lane. This...

Hello, I have a 2017 Model S in Deep Blue w/ a White Interior and I'm thinking about getting it chrome deleted and some other work. My question is: does anyone have advice of how to do this and have it look good? Other question: Do you think the T on the front/back should remain chrome? I...

In this Tweet (linked below), Elon is running a build that says "feature/das-hydranet". Elon Musk on Twitter I remember that @jimmy_d noted that the current NN is called "aknet" and Karpathy noted that there are other improvements he hopes to share with us soon. I wonder if "das-hydranet"...

    Neural Networks

I have a local winding road I test AP updates on and I can say that at high enough speed it still veers out of its lane across the center line on turns. It does correct back into the middle but if there were oncoming cars it would be quite dangerous. And this isn't a freaky high speed, its a...

    Software Update 2018.10.4

I've read a lot of the posts here and I'm surprised no one has mentioned how fast it acquires lane markings and allows Autosteer now. Before, you'd have to drive on a street/highway for a few seconds with black lane lines (on the display) for the steering wheel to show up. Now, the steering...

    Version 2018.10.4

My AP2 car has always done this. I drive almost daily down a couple widely varying street widths and it would do this. I haven't driven 10.4 around yet, so it might be better or more accurate now, I'm not sure.

    Elon: FSD in 2020

Assuming not rhetorical... might be but I can't tell. 1.) Elon pushed Dec C2C to early 2018, then during the last earnings call pushed it to "3 months maybe, 6 months definitely" (seriously). All that is to say its just as likely to happen in 3 months as it is to happen in 2025. 2.) People who...
