Love our X90D. Glad we have the 6 seater but 7 seats would have been better here or there. For how much we use the extra seats though, 6 is fine and when it is just 6, the big gap in the center really helps with legroom. Have put 20K miles on in a year. Driven to San Diego and back, Michigan...
Driving Colorado - Detroit - Harbor Beach - Mackinac Island - Petoskey - Niagara - Boston - Colorado next month. Looks like I will be charging at Sheplers while staying on the Island. Was hoping to use the SC in Gaylord (after topping up in Bay City) but that looks like its going to be a...
I love the pano windshield, my wife on the other hand hated the sun penetration, especially here in Colorado. So I compromised with her and we had the windshield tinted at 20% from the rearview mirror up. Massive cut down in heat and light. Its also cheaper than tinting the entire windshield...
Ceramic coatings are great, but not totally bulletproof. Light surface scratching, yes. Rock chips, no. I had my front end wrapped along with mirrors, front of rear tires and rear bumper which ran $2,400 (but this also included polish and paint correction of the ENTIRE vehicle). Ceramic...
Yes, not everyone likes the color changes of the Obsidian. Same day, different angles get you different colors. I personally like it, but I know may others aren't fans. Sometimes it even appears like a dark metallic gunmetal grey depending on the light as you can see from mine today:
Beautiful car @NikeWings. I think you are right, you really can't go wrong either black. Just make sure to protect it with a wrap, ceramic coating or regular waxing (the real stuff, not the spray on stuff from the car wash)!
Thank you. I was lucky and found an awesome detailer in Denver. Highly recommend www.coloradodetail.com for anyone in Colorado looking for detailing, tinting, wrap, ceramic coatings and they specialize in Tesla's. Fair price and SUPER detailed work.
What I love about the crystal serum coating on our X is the 7 year shine guarantee. Once and I don't have to think about it again. Carnuba is great, unfortunately it has to be done every few months. When you add up, say 3 to 4 times a year by a detailer for regular wax and multiply it out by...
I've noticed the ghosting in our X is entirely dependent on driving position. My wife does not notice it at all, and when I move down to her eye level, voila, ghosting is gone.
I have an Obsidian Black MX. The ceramic coating (Gtechniq Crystal Serum) on mine is amazing. Repels dirt, water and light surface scratches. I often just have to spray it down with a spray bottle and wipe up with a cloth. I also had the front end wrapped in Llumar Platinum wrap which is...
Definitely go Obsidian Black. My detailer thanked me that I went Obsidian. He sees a lot of Tesla's and for the finish upkeep alone he said the standard black is much harder to keep looking good and tells everyone to choose Obsidian. The plain black shows swirls and even small scratches much...
I was saying there is no difference in shine level between the areas covered with wrap and uncovered. For example my detailer paint corrected the entire car first. Then applied film to the front clip, rear bumper and a couple of other small areas. Then when this was complete went over the...
Like @jgrgnt we've only had our X a little over a month and didn't know it wasn't an issue in the past. I will say though, I don't notice anything too forceful about the close and it doesn't close hard enough to shake the car. Its a firm close but I would't call it really forceful.
I think one of the reasons it may have turned out well is my detailer, Colorado Detail, paint corrects the finish before applying any film.

I don't notice a wavy orange-peel effect at all with the Llumar Platinum film on my X. In fact the Llumar coated with Crystal Serum is much more shiny than my original, polished paint (and the same as my unwrapped, but Crystal Serum treated, doors and rear fenders) so I have to disagree.
It's interesting @verygreen, my detailer was saying how quality of work can vary from SC to SC. Denver for example was amazing, then sometime last year, was doing a fairly poor job and now again, is much better. Seems like one area Tesla is struggling in (which isn't surprising based on...
BTW... Love the Llumar Platinum film on our X. There is also significant piece of mind driving in traffic and being able to worry less about rocks and road debris. Now if only I felt the same way about the windshield.... o_O
I love our 6 seater and definitely wouldn't trade it for a 5. My thought was, how often am I really going to use the full "utility" of my X? I know I'm not loading plywood or anything else in there. I have a pickup for that. I find there is quite a bit of space with one or both seats folded...
Yes, I think we get away with a lot more here regarding tinting in Colorado than in California and other states. There are so many cars heavily tinted here, legitimately I believe, due to the heat and intensity of the sun both due to elevation and being the sunniest state in the union.
Don't think it has anything to do with alignment, just how the FWD's operate and unfortunately its a pretty hard rub, even if its just rubber on metal. Perhaps a future fix for Tesla would be something a bit squishier than the hard rubber piece currently mounted.
I notice we have yet to see a reappearance of the single posting MrSling who started this conversation. I wonder if the "Killer" AP2 finally caught up with him?
I did the front clip (hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, foglights) and rear bumper. Happy I did but as @rainforest said, even a smaller install like this isn't necessarily cheap. We plan on keeping our X for quite some time so it made sense for us to do it.
My doors were a little misaligned at delivery, however, the Denver SC got them aligned perfectly afterward. The SC also fixed a small groan I developed after delivery as well and it has not (knock on wood) returned.
I also have the same paint rub we all do. Its a rubber grommet on the door...
Part of it is trick of light @DaddyP713, its only 30, while the rears are 20 (what comes on the X from the factory). Legal limit I believe is technically 50, but as our detailer said, he's never heard of anyone being pulled over or cited for tinting, even the cars he does at 15 and 20 on the...
I wanted to quick note the Denver SC was great with making the corrections on my delivery items in late March. FWD's are perfectly aligned now along with trim and no more FWD opening groan. Minor front seat creasing that the SC let me know they are ordering new seats (which wasn't asked for or...
Actually, just stating fact a fact. I find it interesting someone pops on the boards complaining and using hyperbole about how his Tesla tried to "kill him several times" and we haven't heard from the individual for three days now since their first post. The fact this person never posted...
Are you really an actual owner @MrSling or just a troll? All the self driving gadgets? One post only... Hmm...
Misleading? What, Tesla is now at virtual parity to AP1 a couple months after expected. That is not misleading, actually its herculean with new hardware and no mobileye...
I highly recommend them @Solarman004. Reach out and talk with the owner Steve who is a former engineer (you can use the contact form on their website). They took about a month to get me in the calendar. Great guy, let him know Mike, who just had his black Model X done (he'll know me by the...
Sorry to hear your problems @mohanman. I've driven so many rental cars, some good, some really bad that I do think that not every seat is perfect for every individual. I've experienced some terrible seats in very nice cars in my life. In fact for years I wouldn't buy a 90's Ford because no...
They are in Denver @Solarman004.

Thank you @Dr Doom! Cost was roughly $5k. It was going to run about $7k for a full wrap. I feel like this was a better way to go as most of the major areas were protected with film plus I got the tinting, crystal serum, trim and leather treatment for less than the full wrap. Its amazing how...
Wish I had an answer on that. He knew that due to the VIN series, that it was something they would simply replace. And yes, we took delivery in March. Built early March just after the line shutdown.
I should also note as well... We had some paint imperfections from the factory and Colorado Detail took care of them as part of the service. Even went as far as to put clear bra over the interiors of the FWD's which are known paint rub points (without having to be asked to do it as they know...
I have ventilated seats (our X is one of the last to get them) and after a couple of weeks I have some creasing as well. SC said in my VIN range its a known issue and have put in a request for new front driver and passenger seats. Evidently they are custom build, so I was told 6-18 weeks for...
We just got Llumar Films Platinum Wrap put on the front of our 90D. It also has a 10 year warranty and our detailer likes it better than Xpel. We also had Crystal Serum done on the entire car, along with over the Llumar Films wrap which also carries a 7 year warranty. We plan on keeping our...
We just got our MX 90D back from Colorado Detail and they did an extraordinary job. Full front and rear bumper wrap in Llumar Films Clear Bra, GtechniQ Crystal Serum paint treatment and Rayno Phantom 30% tint on driver and passenger windows with 20% tint on upper half of the front windshield...
I just wanted to take a moment to share a couple quick thoughts, especially in regards to the ease we have of complaining about our Tesla's. From some of the stories I've read here at TMC, I felt rather lucky when I picked up my MX 90D last month and ONLY had a piece of misaligned trim, two...
I have some small creasing going on with our fronts seats after a couple weeks, and I have one of the last HW2's with the ventilated option. The way I look at it is, the seats are super comfy. If they continue to get worse and really look bad, at a certain point when its still under warranty...
I'm looking at Axis Rims from TireRack which look very much like the Tesla turbine 22's (but in a 20 size). They are only $160/wheel and load rated for the MX. Wouldn't surprise me that these were fine.
