Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Not sure why you think I’m giving Tesla a pass on their piss-poor quality. I’ve been quite vocal about it. I try not to be too over-the-top negative and not use phrases such as piss-poor and just let Tesla’s quality speak for itself without making excuses or praise he who does not need...
Do your research or face the early-buyer, low-quality early production penalty.
We know about it. It’s well known amongst Tesla owners I couldn’t care less if someone with $100-120K in disposable income gets a *sugary* truck trophy.
That’s the way Tesla builds cars, unfortunately. Every single new model has this launch/early production problem. Everything comes out half-baked. Better to wait 12-18 months for them to redesign all the bad decisions out. And then what you have let is the car itself to evaluate.
It does nothing to advance the mission but distract from RoboTaxi and the Tesla compact. All of your arguments for the Roadster are quite the stretch. But you're entitled to disagree. At least I didn't insult you.
Update at 80,080miles:
Determined that all brake rotors and pads are brand new.
Installed 18” Aero wheels (used from eBay).
Got the free 30 day Faux Self Driving demo and used it a lot. Neat but not really a good driving experience. Drives like my mom.
Going on a 1000 mile trip over...
You can try. Usually peeling like this is caused by lack or prep or surface contamination. It could also be rubbing of improperly installed or loose trim.
Since you appear to be within your warranty period, it's worth a shot. Schedule a visit to the SC and just be super polite and...
People love to take the total loss for a quarter and divide it by the total number of vehicles sold. That’s not loss per vehicle sold.
That’s not gross margin, either.
That’s a BS number that includes operating expenses.
We all know gross margin is selling price divided by COGS - 1.
I think this is standard procedure for them and medical insurance billing. Fight it a little as a delay tactic then remove it when challenged by facts or when sued or when the local news company does a story.
I give you props for voicing your opinion. The design is certainly controversial. It had to grow on me, and now I love it.
As was said above, it's polarizing. Some love it, some hate it. And that's OK with me. When cars are boring and bland, no one genuinely wants it. It's just a car...
Buying a Lucid now is like buying a Fisker. Any customer is concerned about parts and service due to the future viability of the company. It doesn't matter how great the car is if there is no confidence in the company.
Tesla buyers had confidence in the early days, plus hope and hype and...
Forget losses per share.
Look at Income vs. Expenses.
$176M vs. $729M in losses on 1932 vehicles sold.
That’s unsustainable.
Lucid won’t even guide on gross margin per vehicle. They’re very. very negative.
Rawlinson brags about how great Lucid is and all of the advantages Lucid has in...
I've seen the stretched seat materials on old Teslas. Haven't noticed it on any later models so this appears to be something they "iron out" (no pun intended) as problems come back. Looks like they have some tweaking to do in the design or padding.
Now, that's no excuse, but for $20K...
I am following some Fisker owners/enthusiasts on YT and I feel bad for them. They want so hard for Fisker to come out of it and are holding out all hopes and some are foolishly doubling down. Some are invested significantly and it are in denial that there's a 99.9% chance they've lost it all...
The thread is getting heated, but as long as it doesn’t get insulting we’ll be ok.
It’s ok to disagree. It’s ok to have a differing opinion. Opinions cannot be wrong. It’s ok to be in the minority. Don’t take disagreement as anger or vitriol.
Don’t insult people for liking or...
Wow. This is crazy FUD being created by the utility. Houses almost never draw their maximum load, and also will seldom all draw at the same time.
Since an L2 charger can use less than an oven or a dryer (2.8kw at 12A/240VAC is what I use), there is no risk of "dimming the lights" of...
And the damage is expensive to repair! Oh, no! What a disaster!
Why fix it at all? If a CT is for working, it doesn’t have time to be fixed. So put it to work!
Too many people are treating the CT like a trophy or a delicate flower when it is designed to take a beating, be beaten up...
I prefer to wait until the quality improves instead paying a penalty to be first.
Not only will that penalty be increase by depreciation, it will also hurt more when the inevitable price decreases come next year or sales to bump demand.
The article says they invested $20k into the startup not on the vehicle.
Too bad. My sympathies.
Wanna buy some Lucid stock? Faraday Future? Lordstown? Rivian?
Comprehensive insurance is for non-driving, non-crashing damage to the car, like damaged windshields, hail, or vandalism. Any crash requires some sort of collision coverage and the right kind depending on fault, depending on your state.
Cracks in any glass should be covered by comprehensive, unless your policy is written specifically for glass. Comprehensive usually covers incidental damage from non-driving incidents. Tree damage, keyings, etc.
So, try that approach. Read your whole policy. Your rep may not offer any...
