    CPUC NEM 3.0 discussion

I did not read the fine print, but is it safe to assume as a solar and battery back up owner, that my yearly bill go from about $100 to over $1,000 under this new measure?

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I just enrolled. App says "answer may take a week or more". Despite my staunch dislike of PG&E, It makes sense to use energy storage for peak grid load reduction. Hopefully using local energy storage to support grid stability will also give leverage when making future decisions about how...

Increased Car Prices and $12k FSD...Just Insanity!

Good catch. Just updated my signature to MCU2. Worth every penny! But still don’t have Beta, my safety score is stupid.

Well this is it, just purchased 2018 75D from Tesla website . Have some questions

Increased Car Prices and $12k FSD...Just Insanity!

Just for the record, some of us did buy FSD for a total of 5k. See flowchart: https://cleantechnica.com/2019/03/12/autopilot-full-self-driving-prices-rising-on-monday-buy-now-to-beat-the-price-increase/

Am I crazy for wanting to put Turbines on a new Model S LR?

What glide said. I have about 6000 miles on my 20 inch wheels now and zero issues. I had my car serviced with no issues and had Tesla even align it, which they were Admittedly hesitant, but willing to do. I’m sure there are some service centers that wont align aftermarket wheels, but there are...

California, how long do you wait for your plates to be delivered?

I bought a new Highlander on November 12, got plates in the mail three days ago. I’m sure an extra 60-90 days is the standard Tesla handicap.

Out of Warranty Drive Unit Replacement and Cost

This information is so interesting and helpful, if anything just to break the old paradigm thinking related to an ice engine. Who would’ve thought that the worst thing you can do for these motors is to leave them dormant for excessive periods of time, And that regular hard acceleration may have...

Out of Warranty Drive Unit Replacement and Cost

Good to know, thanks. Fortunately it gets driven almost daily, and currently has 40k miles, so sounds like that will help. I also figure since it’s mechanically built for more torque and kilowatt output That it will never see, would only help with longevity.

Out of Warranty Drive Unit Replacement and Cost

Thanks. This is all really helpful to know. I have an August 30 build 2017 model S 75 rear wheel drive with a large motor. One of the first to get the factory uncorked 4.2 seconds zero to 60 time. Even though it’s not performance, I assume this is basically the same large motor as a...

Revised Solar Panel from 4.25KW to 6.38KW

i had powewalls installed on existing solar and plans showed inside garage installation. We wound up moving powerwalls outside. Tesla didn’t revise plans/permit until local fire inspection demanded it. There were lots of bureaucratic issues with install, but San Mateo approving updated permit...

Sentry Mode/Dashcam recording USB for AP3/MCU1

Request the MCU2 upgrade an AP 3.0 computer and see what they invoice you for. They may only charge for the MCU2 upgrade and install the FSD computer for free at the same time.
  21. Flyguy

How much is the MCU2 infotainment upgrade supposed to cost?

Yes, I think you should be able to get them to honor the advertise price. Have you actually requested the service through your Tesla app yet? Why don’t you do that and see what the price is through your app.

    Ordering Cardenio wheels

Ah, got it. I have to say, now that the 21s and the 19s are both staggered, wider and have a new offset, I don’t know what a good recommendation would be for aftermarket 20 inch wheel dimensions. I can say that with 20 inch wheels w/ Michelin pilot a/S sport 3+ I’ve had zero issues with...

    Ordering Cardenio wheels

Hello! Not sure what Cardenio wheels are, but you won’t be able to get anything aftermarket through the Tesla service center. I would do some research since the wheel dimension an offset has changed on the new 2021 MS. Enjoy your new car when it comes! Either way, I highly recommend 20” wheels...

How much is the MCU2 infotainment upgrade supposed to cost?

The one caveat in pricing that was true for me and discussed in many other threads is that they are charging you $500 for the AP 3.0 computer install . if you have paid for FSD and already had AP3.0 computer installed, Then the MCU2 is $1500. I paid $2000 because I also got the $500 radio add on.

    Massive PTO Delay

Yep. I had powerwalls added to existing solar (took over a year). PTO submitted (incorrectly) in March. PG&E requested correct documents from Tesla in May. According to PGE rep I talked to today, it’s been crickets from Tesla since. My SA Won’t take calls or respond to emails anymore
  27. Flyguy

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

If you don’t have any issues with MCU1, Which I find hard to believe if you have current software update, then no reason to upgrade to MCU2. You may or may not get an extra 2.2K back out when you sell it anyway.

FYI Tesla insurance just called to let me know I haven't been insured since FEBRUARY

I'm financed though Tesla (@0.99%). The ultimate irony will be Tesla finance screwing me because Tesla insurance screwed me. If Farmers hadn't raised my rates by 40% after owning the car for 3 years I would not be here right now. None the less, seems pretty clear I need to find different...

FYI Tesla insurance just called to let me know I haven't been insured since FEBRUARY

I’ve had no claims or infractions. My understanding is that if the state applies a penalty it still be less than the missed payments. Unfortunately Tesla is quite a bit cheaper than other quotes I had, so will continue to roll the dice (and check monthly payment from now on).

FYI Tesla insurance just called to let me know I haven't been insured since FEBRUARY

Back in December 2020 I had a new credit card issued. As I updated all recurring bills I went to my tesla insurance page and entered the new number. Everything seemed to save fine. Well, apparently it didn't. I got a phone message yesterday asking if I wanted to " re-instate" my tesla...

Am I crazy for wanting to put Turbines on a new Model S LR?

I have always loved the look of the turbines on the model S. For all the years before I bought one, that’s what I assumed I would run. After knowing more about their weight, the fact that their cast, and their price I decided to go with 20 inch forged custom wheels. I bought five wheels and...

Poll: Extended Service Agreement Poll- good idea?

I bought the 4 year ESA for my October 2017 MS 75RWD when I bought the car new. Under the new car warranty, I’ve had both headlights (DRL’s) and one door handle replaced. I also just completed the MCU2/radio upgrade which comes with its own two-year warranty. I do have air suspension , but...

I had one handle fail AT DELIVERY on my August 2017 MS, so I have you beat. Had to sit around for 3hrs while someone drove across town to the Fremont assembly plant to get a new one and install before I took the car home. Now, 3.5 years and 35K miles later the driver handle failed two weeks...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Took my 2017 MS 75 in for MCU2 upgrade last week. Thanks to this thread, I realized that both my DRL‘s were partially out. The upper part was out on both sides, and since it was symmetrical I never even noticed. Had both headlights replaced under warranty at the same time. Super helpful!

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Just took my 2017 AP2.5 (FSD 3.0 computer already installed) in for MCU2 upgrade. I told my service advisor there was an aftermarket stereo he said it should be fine. I asked him if the upgrade used the existing wiring harness and he said yes. I asked because the Tesla speaker outputs are...
