Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I ordered mine one year before you and still don’t have it. Way to rub it in! Seems like a lot of us are now bumped to Dec 22-April 23. Good thing I just got my Model Y. Any possibility there is some amount of Model X re-tooling going on to account for the delay? This is the most absurd thing...

Model X delivery delayed; anyone else?

Oh god! I just saw this and went to look at the app. After the EDD changoing about ten times, we had been looking forward to a July delivery date since February. I now have the same EDD date range as you. Blue-on-white LR six-seater. Reserved end of January 2020.

Is this video showing a power front trunk also? Or is this an aftermarket thing?

How far can I drive without coolant

You might want to go ahead and top off the coolant yourself before your trip. Some of it will drain onto the ground , but presumably will provide some protection for the batteries versus having the coolant run dry. Remove the 12 bolts holding front trunk basin with a 10mm socket. Tesla uses...

Best interior color for Model X?

White is the most impressive IMO. When we bought our X, the black material didn't look or feel as premium as the white material. I believe Tesla has upgraded the black material so it is now just as soft as the white. Four and a half years later, our white seats still look great. I wipe the...

broken Lower latch cover on FWD

This happened to my '17 X in 2019. It's a thick cast cast piece that's strong until it cracks. Then it falls apart. The ranger replaced it in about five minutes. Just remove the loose pieces and schedule a service. It should operate fine until you can get it replaced.

Pic of your 2021 Refresh Model X.......RIGHT NOW! [model X refresh pictures thread]

The alignment might be because it took a hit right at the door. It’ll probably take four months and $25k to repair.

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Yep. My lease was up in December of 2020. Tesla has been extending it for over a year now. Was supposed to have it in June, then August, then October, then the estimated delivery jumped to January and now February. As long as we get it soon, I’m fine with this. I don’t want one of the very first...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I’m not canceling. There’s no point. But I’m open to other brands now. Before last week, I wouldn’t have thought that was possible. I’ll decide what to do with the X once I get a real delivery day. At this point I’m not confident in any date they provide, and certainly don’t believe that it will...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Yesterday the EDD was blank, today it’s January. Over a year after I ordered a replacement, and have extended my current Model X lease four times. As much as this pains me, I don’t think I can stick with Tesla any longer. They are too boneheaded and disorganized.

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I was only talking about the exterior lighting. Completely agree with you. I’ve lost any love for Mercedes interiors. With the gummybear ambient lighting everywhere and the entire dashboard being a series of screens, it’s as if they were designed by the same guys who created bloomberg...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I am a bit surprised that the exterior is largely unchanged. It can barely be considered a mid-cycle refresh. Aside from the bumper skins, the exterior panels and lighting are visually the same as before. I would have thought that at least the lighting design would have been updated. Perhaps...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

In which area? There are several locations with the RN, and I'm not seeing the EDD anywhere. On the old app, it was showing October. But with the app update, it's not showing anything.

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

If it was delivered in June, that would have been great. But now I’m going to hold off on accepting delivery until… A) I know that there’s a steering wheel option. I’ve been noticing how I drive, and I can’t deal with a yoke. B) The inevitable first-run Tesla bugs are wrung out. C) I get to see...

    What Else Are You Considering?

The Rivian looks like it will be amazing. But I'm unlikely to consider the first car from a new car company to be my primary vehicle. The Porsche is really seductive.

    Creaking suspension 2020 Mx < 15k miles

It's a failed control arm. A known defect that they will replace at no charge. Don't allow a smarmy advisor to try to get you to pay for it, as they attempted with me. Ask that they replace both sides so that you don't have to take it in again when the other one fails.

Anyone used a SeaSucker rack on a Model X

I have used seasucker racks to haul surf boards often and decking boards once. As a precaution, I also use bungee cords through the side windows... just in case. Since the weight is entirely on glass and the FWD, I keep my speed down and don't go above 40mph. But they do the job. No issues.

How bad are Falcon Wing doors?

3 1/2 years into my X, no issues. During a summer/winter wheel swap by a ranger in Y2, Tesla had to re-align and replace the passenger FWD latch cover. But that’s it. The doors are considerably faster than motorized minivan doors. I will say that the performance of the doors improved massively...

Much more brake dusts front wheels than rear ones

The front brakes do most of the work when stopping the vehicle, which is why the front brakes are always larger than the rears. Cars that I own that are more performance oriented tend to create considerably more brake dust on the front wheels. Teslas use their mechanical brakes less often than...

Creaking/Squeaking control arm ball joint fix

You shouldn't have been charged anything. This has been a known defect for nearly a year. The SC manager first insisted that I pay nearly $2k for both control arms, but when I pulled up the endless threads about it, they covered it.

Unhappy with FSD sales and pricing

For a lot of us, it all comes down to what value FSD offers. I lease one car and I own one car. Am I going to pay 20k for FSD? No freakin way. Especially with my leased car, which would add a net net cost of about 4k over the duration of the 3-year lease... a smidge over $100 per month. Unless I...

    Cupholders in updated X

I am clamoring for info on the updated X interior, and today I’m fixated on learning more about cupholders. Where are they in the front? In the S, there are pics of a flip-down rear seat armrest with two cupholders. Will the X have this?

    Refreshed Model X

Any word on the yoke situation? I was ready to pull the lever and place an order on a new X to replace my 2017. But I just don't think I want a car with a "yoke." Is Tesla honestly going to put this in a family car?

    Is Yoke Steering Wheel legal?

Seems as if a yoke wouldn’t be in compliance with 1A “A motor vehicle must be equipped with a continuous rim steering wheel meeting the requirements set forth under RCW 46.37.375, and this chapter. The steering must: (1) Include a steering wheel which must: (a) Have an outside diameter of not...

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

That’s exactly what it means. The price of the X dropped twice recently was because Tesla needed to get rid of vehicles. Everyone suspected that an update with imminent, and Tesla had to move out vehicles sitting on lots that would suddenly become dramatically devalued once the update was...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

After the CT launch, I should have known that I ought to pop a diazepam for this reveal. So many strong thoughts about the S/X updates... some good, some not good. Actually, exterior update is it’s own sedative.

Tesla Offers FSD Trial in End-of-Year Sales Push

I don’t know if I would consider this more of an incentive, or an irritating crack-dealer approach to pushing a feature on people who aren’t interested in it. $10k for a single option, one that includes features that were otherwise standard with AP, is infuriating. I’ve watched every single...

Horrible experience picking up my THIRD S car

The issue with the Service Centers is that there are apparently no measurable standards that employees need to follow. I’ve had good luck two-out-of-three times I’ve taken my X in for service. But that one time was really bad, and I left completely enraged. The “manager” at Syosset was lying...

FSD price for EAP owners lowered by $1000

Enhanced Autopilot makes our Model X our favorite vehicle for road trips, and the superiority of AP will keep us loyal to Tesla for the foreseeable future. Because of how luxury cars depreciate, we lease our X. But the 3 and Y hold their value, so we will be purchasing a Model 3 in January. And...

    Tesla Referral Program

Hello! I've glanced through the comments and haven't seen anything recent on this. So here goes... We received our Model X in 2017 and quickly racked-up enough referrals to qualify for the power wall. They were supposed to start delivery in March 2018, then the date moved to Summer, then winter...

A weekend of interior/exterior mods (chrome delete, etc.)

Nice! Did you spray them on the car or when they were removed? Any tricks to doing this? I've been watching plastidip videos, trying to figure out when to bite the bullet. My X is in midnight silver, so I'm going to probably go with a gunmetal finish rather than a brown tone. Looking forward to...

A weekend of interior/exterior mods (chrome delete, etc.)

Sorry if I missed this somewhere... but did you plastidip your wheels? I have black 22's on now, but am switching back to silver 20's before winter. I've been considering dipping the 20s in gunmetal while they're off the X.

Software Request - Scheduled Energy Save Mode

What's the best way to request a new feature? It would be great to include an energy saver mode schedule that will shut down systems when you don't need the car, and then energize everything when in time for when you're ready. My Model X sits in an underground garage Monday through Thursday...

    Hooked on autopilot

I use it constantly. I rented a Volvo XC90 while visiting SF last week. It had ACC and lane keep assist, but nothing near the sophistication of Autopilot. It made me realize how easy it has been to get used to AP.

Tesla Black Box Data Collection - Hands on Wheel

Dinosaver, I'd sure like to understand how this system works. I keep at least one hand on the wheel all the time. But I routinely get the visual "place hands on wheel" alert. A light jolt of the wheel removes the alert. But is the wheel actually sensing my hands on the wheel beyond just the...

    Nav Voice

Is there any way to change the navigation voice in the latest update? I really dislike the newest female voice. Too "Stormy Daniels" for my taste. How about a British, Aussie, or some other options? Can someone market this up to our boy Elon?

Tesla Black Box Data Collection - Hands on Wheel

"On more than a dozen occasions, the car is said to have registered a total absence of hands on its wheel, and twice for periods exceeding a minute in length. She then allegedly only placed her hands back on the wheel after being cued to do so by the automobile, both times removing them again...

    I'm dying with Tunein

Exactly. It's not the car, it's the over-reliance on an LTE signal for everything. I only drive the X on weekends to areas with spotty cell service. I just got the car in December, but I don't know if I can stand this for remainder of the three year lease.

    I'm dying with Tunein

Is there any ability to upgrade to SiriusXM if you don't have the premium package? I should have gotten the premium package, but satellite stereo was the only feature that I cared about. The folks at Tesla assured me of the awesomeness of Tunein. But I absolutely despise it and wish that I'd...

    Range expectations X75 vs. X100 - realistically

My usual weekend drive is 110 miles each way. I have chargers at both ends, so the extra range would be meaningless to me. For my occasional NYC to DC drives (~325 miles) I end up stopping once regardless of the battery pack I have. So again, the battery size makes no difference. However, if...

    Elon, we have a Problem!

When I went to the Chevy dealership to drive the Bolt, the walked me over to the Volt. It took a few minutes to sort out the confusion. Turns out they hadn't yet received any Bolts. Either they genuinely knew nothing about the Bolt, or they thought I was a complete moron and wouldn't know the...
