    265/45/R20

Not that I have experienced. I read elsewhere that this setup will give you slight rubbing at full lock, so I've simply avoided doing that. It is stock.

What do you mean by 'convert'? Did you extract it with an unrar tool or did you just change the extension to .bin?

    265/45/R20

I haven't seen many posts on putting 265/45/R20s on the Induction wheels. So, adding mine. Got them for better ride, better traction, and better wheel/rim protection. Specifically got the Continental LX25s: CrossContact™ LX25 Haven't broken them in yet (probably only about 100 miles on them)...

    Travel cooler/fridge

Has anyone stumbled across a cooler with wheels that fits in the sub trunk? The closest I’ve found is an Igloo cooler, but it’s just short of perfect at ~16” in height.

Lots of white/white with induction wheels in inventory. Picked it up on Saturday rather than wait.

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Dunno why mine is -$2000 instead of 3000, but I’m too tired to do all the math right now. It’s probably right, I’m happy.

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Just checked the app. New price is reflected. It looks like my loan updated, but the down payment stayed the same. I’m showing a -$2000 amount due now. Interesting. edit: need to re-accept loan offer, but rate did not change

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Delivery scheduled for Friday at 2 PM. Just submitted my final payment (down payment, using Tesla Financing) this morning. Really hoping no resistance to getting the updated pricing.

    Austin Energy and Powerwalls

Austin Energy is owned by the city of Austin. Therefore it doesn't extend outside city limits. The rest of Texas is a deregulated grid, so any net metering agreements are between you and the provider you choose. Luckily, the rate increase proposal for 2023 fixes how solar is treated. But I...

    Austin Energy and Powerwalls

Yea, I set my reserve to 100% backup, otherwise you're just wasting energy for no gain.
  14. C

    Austin Energy and Powerwalls

Sigh, us Austinites always have to explain to everyone how Value of Solar != Net Metering. Value of Solar works like this: 1. Sell ALL solar generation back to Austin Energy at a fixed rate (currently $0.097/kWh, proposed to go up to $0.0991/kWh) 2. Buy back power according to standard tiered...

    V2G support in Backup Gateway/Switch

Sorry, I tend to think of V2G & V2H as the same. But you're right, they are distinct. I'm more interested in V2H, not V2G.
  16. C

    V2G support in Backup Gateway/Switch

I'm not asking for a discussion around Tesla vehicles. I'm talking about Tesla Energy products supporting an industry standard to allow V2G. V2G requires grid isolation, which the Backup Gateway & Switch are capable of providing.
  17. C

    V2G support in Backup Gateway/Switch

According to a reddit post (), the standard for V2G has finally been published. Most people don't realize that a bunch of hardware will need to be installed house side to use V2G. But we do! In theory, Tesla could add support for V2G protocols to the Backup Gateway and PW+ (since that's the...

    2 Powerwall+ vs 1 Powerwall+ and one regular Powerwall

If there is no cost difference, get 2 PW+. Most installers won't modify an existing system, but you can always add additional panels yourself with all the hard bits already done.
  19. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

Austin Energy requires a meter on the output of the inverter. That's because we don't have net metering, it's a different system. Given that the PW+ "announcement" was so vague and lacking in detail, I can only assume that they thought the PW+ inverter was DC coupled with the PW.
  20. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

My utility specifically denied the PW+ as it's not compatible with their solar program.
  21. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

That's exactly what I said above.... Anyways the point I was making is that it's disappointing for Tesla to not have self consumption for installations with Powerwall (not plus). Plenty of utilities are out there that are denying applications that use PW+. /thread
  22. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

The Powerwall+ inverter does exactly this. And there are others that do it as well.
  23. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

Not sure if you missed the context of this thread, but the missing functionality is self consumption mode which allows operation before PTO.
  24. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

Disappointing that Tesla didn't update the standalone inverter with the communication capability that the PW+ inverter has, but I suppose there is little incentive for them to do that.
  25. C

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

Sorry for bumping this but it just occurred to me. I checked my inverter installation and indeed, there is no communication cabling. However, how does the Powerwall know how much to charge based off of inverter production? CT clamps in the gateway perhaps?

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

Ha, yes, for a while now. Still love the eventual products that come out of Tesla, but yeeeeesh. I mean, on one hand I was expecting steady state power power to be increased, as Elon alluded to in his tweet. On the other hand, I've gotten used to Tesla's bait and switches over the years.
  27. C

    Discussion: "Powerwall +"

Seems like there is a new revision of Powerwall I haven't seen in this thread. 302170-5-B is what I saw previously. I got 302170-10-B installed last month. Either way, seems like Elon's original assertion that existing Powerwalls would get a power capacity upgrade never came true. Mine are...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

Tesla finished my install & immediately submitted PTO inspection (very surprised they were actually on top of things for once). Austin Energy (my utility) estimates a 4 week wait for the inspection, after which PTO is immediately granted if it passes. Nice thing about this is that it ties...

RI National Grid - "System needs to be reduce or Pay 5.5k pad mount tansformer"

This. AC sizing is truly what matters. The utility even references that in the email, so probably just a miss communication. If anything, I would get Tesla to add one more 3.8 kW inverter. Your current ac/dc ratio is absurdly high right now.

    Conduit painting

Called them and they sounded willing, just had a backed up schedule. Not sure if this is only the roof conduit or also includes all other conduit.

    Conduit painting

Is Tesla still offering this as part of the job? Just finished my panel install (finally after 5 days of trying) and there's conduit all over the place. Wondering if any recent installs had their conduit painted.

    Install day tips!

Unfortunately my panel install was delayed due to weather. I managed to get a priority reschedule though (~3 weeks from now). They still came out to do the electrical portion (PW, inverter, and TEG install). This was good because my utility (Austin Energy) reportedly has a 9 month (!!) backlog...

    Install day tips!

An email from my "project adviser" yesterday, TWO DAYS before installation. Just a casual "btw" message. I told them in May 2021 that I wanted the equipment installed in my garage. Why is it so difficult for Tesla to communicate the design & installation plans? Oh, and of course the adviser...

    Install day tips!

No, the conduit charge I'm pretty sure is because my garage is far away from the main panel. The 400W panels are 75" vs 82" for the 425W panels.
  36. C

    Install day tips!

Thanks for the tips everyone! Definitely going to get water/coffee/breakfast stuff for the crew. System info: 8.8 kW (22 x 400W 'Tesla' panels -- probably just contract manufactured QCell G10+) & two Powerwalls (not PW+). Directed them to install PW inside of garage (and ideally inverter too...

    Install day tips!

After almost a year of waiting, install day is almost here! Curious if anyone has tips for that day. One thing I'd like to ensure is that conduit runs through the attic rather than around the overhang (which is a terrible look IMO). Not sure how much influence I will have over the specific...

Tesla says I can use the system before PTO?

I don't understand why self consumption is limited to Powerwall+. The PW+ is a PW2 and a Tesla Solar Inverter on its side. Does anybody have additional insight?
  39. C

    System expansion after the fact

Curious if anyone has tried this before. I have an 8.5 kW system on order (currently 340W panels, they are redesigning to use their 425W panels), presumably with a 7.6 kW inverter. The 7.6 kW variant has 4 MPPTs. With my design, I'm assuming Tesla will be using 2 of them (one 3.4 kW East facing...

    Tesla Inverter Backup Behavior

Hi all, I've ordered a Solar system (jumped over from Solar Roof after all the price shenanigans). Came across something interesting on reddit: Sounds like there is a relatively new change in behavior when operating in backup (read: off grid) mode. Previously, solar would be shut off if the...

    CHAdeMO Charging the Model 3

I’m pretty confused by your reply. Yes, Chademo is the only third party option we currently have, that’s what I said. But that’s not true for Europe, where the 3 has CCS and there is a CCS adapter for the S and X.
  42. C

    CHAdeMO Charging the Model 3

You aren’t alone, but it’s the only 3rd party option we have for those with the Tesla connector inlet.

Anyone tested S/X CHAdeMO Adapter on Model 3

I’m not sure how to tell, other than it ends in 10-D for the TPN field.

Can non-Tesla EVs charge at a CCS-2 SuperCharger?

    1. This is the wrong forum. 2. Tesla is not missing any pins in its CCS connectors as far as I’m aware. Can you provide a source that makes you think this?

V3 Supercharging Profiles for Model 3

You’re assuming pack voltage, which isn’t the case for each module. So power won’t be nearly that high.

    Supercharger - Fremont, CA - Tesla Factory (LIVE, 4 V2 + 8 V3 stalls)

There was some speculation that getting 150 kW out of a V2 stall could be difficult due to temperature of the cable, leading to a more aggressive taper. Very curious if we can get 150 sustained on a conditioned battery for longer than other data samples have shown.
