    Is MCU2 upgrade worth it?

Just getting back on the regular software update cycle is worth it! It may well be the last upgrade for our legacy vertical screen configuration (just guessing) but hopefully it has sufficient power and user base to continue the update stream for some time to come before we’re relegated to...

A/C HVAC fan stuck at 5

Is “range mode” enabled on the X? I think it restricts the max. fan speed to 5 which made me think of it. With more extreme exterior temperatures, “auto” might struggle to meet the requested interior temperature.

    Warning Oscar 7 Hamish (UK)

It took 2-3 months when I ordered a couple of years ago. I wasn’t impressed with the product when it finally arrived over $600AUD poorer. I use the frunk bags on occasion, but the ‘trunk’ option are unusable - although looking now they seem to have a v2 which looks to have addressed the issue.

MCU2 Upgrde and no AM or FM radio

As another data point, I upgraded my late 2017 MX75D to MCU2 + radio a week ago and it picks up DAB - oh, and 2021 versioned firmware too…. finally..!

How reliable is Spotify these days?

When comparing my Spotify experience from 2017/2018 to today, it’s night and day. I still remember how frustrating it was and the embarrassment when showing off the car (freezing/sync issues etc). It’s naturally sluggish on my MCU1 and demands a good data signal, but it’s functional enough for...

    Homelink operation in reverse?

You can manually switch rear camera back on if lost in this way (or flick to park/reverse) - agree that it’s not ideal. I’ve two doors that I reverse through (within a few metres of each other) but they trigger as I drive past the end of the drive. If I drive too quickly only one door gets...

SW version 2021.4.12 - hopeless (in Aus at least)

I headed up the Hume between Melbourne and Bright over the weekend (X75D/MCU1/HW3/2020.48.37.1) and experienced the same as OP. I did note that the repetitive switching between NoA and AutoSteer was mostly due to cross roads as QBN_PC called out. I had the same fights at many lane changes to the...

2016 MX start up time - what is normal?

My mcu1 2017 X (~30,000km) instrument cluster is giving me the “T” (startup) more consistently since the last update. Quite painful when I’m in a hurry, but otherwise no big deal. Centre screen instantly available so at least I can get the gate open while waiting. I put it down to some power...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I had the same issue recently with my MX (fob, not phone) - my wife’s profile would take preference and I’d be slowly crushed by the seat. Her fob was nowhere near the car in each case so clearly a bug, but since I removed my fob from my profile and added it back in, I’ve not had the issue...

    Homelink operation in reverse?

I also have two gates which are set to open automatically with homelink and it works well, most of the time. If I arrive too quickly then only one gate “wins” the signal race. Also, the inner garage may have been open by others so homelink effectively triggers a close. So in these situations I’m...

    Looking at Model X 75D - Syd-New range question

My late 2017 X75D (22inch) metrics line up with yours. 284km current range at 90%. 320w/km is common.

    Model S hail resistant?

My X bonnet suffered from from some minor dimpling (maybe 8 spots) - but you’d have to really look for them so I doubt I’ll take any action. Such a feeling of helplessness as I drove hunting for a decent tree or undercover carpark. I was petrified about what I was going to discover.

    Tyre Replacement Melbourne (Not Tesla)

I got my two rear 22” replaced this morning after one punctured. $670 quoted for one through Tesla and $590 for two through Goodyear Essendon - great service. The 22s are out of stock most places so good prices were very hard to come by.

UK MX onyx touch up pen

Yes, it works fine. I was using a slightly different shade prior from a local shop but this one is a better match. Really hard to spot the touch-ups on the wheels unless you’re looking for it. I got lazy and haven’t bothered with the separate lacquer.

Has anyone noticed a huge drop off in service re Melbourne SC?

@EcoCloudIT you've certainly described a very ordinary experience and I'd be equally disappointed. Poring over the forums prior to purchase, I was certainly aware that there was a strong risk of my car having quality issues, however a great service experience was there to smooth things over. If...

Has anyone noticed a huge drop off in service re Melbourne SC?

I’d organised minor warranty paint work resulting from FWD realignment and indicated my preference for a Tesla loaner. Although the appointment was deferred a couple of times as they’d apparently unloaded many of the loan cars (and once because of me), Grace had me in a new X for the first week...

    Melbourne HPWC installation

First installation for me was 6m from meter box for $550, second 50cm for $500, third was maybe 25-30m for $1040. All very tidy single-phase installs by Tesla-recommended JetCharge.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I’d guess pricing somewhere in BMW 3-series territory, ~$60kAUD for elusive $35kUSD base model through to ~$120kAUD for optioned up performance edition (attempts to include on-road costs, assumes current conversion rates) I think the long range battery (499km) has been replaced with the new “mid...

Anyone have a spare wall charger they want to sell?

Do you need to specify 3 phase when ordering a new wall connector? I thought the same wall connector handled both connection types. I was never asked when I ordered a second unit for a planned 3 phase install (ended up a single phase connection anyway due to site complications)

    Homelink is here in Australia?

Thanks paulp, this was exactly what I was looking for, I now have the homelink icon in the app. You can only set it up for one of the three doors but it works as expected - including as a backup remote.

    Homelink is here in Australia?

I’ve read that some users have had a homelink logo appear top right within the Summon screen. It doesn’t appear for me. Possibly limited by geography? Example source: Android app homelink | Tesla

Making homelink work In equipped model S/X/3

JayTee, same thing happened to me first time I think (but with Merlin). I managed to delete the created profile and had another go at it. Second time worked a charm, same procedure although increased determination. There is a limit on the number of remotes assigned to a controller but pretty...

Soon to be a new Model S owner in Melbourne, suggestions?

Hi Hansel, great news! It’s certainly exciting. My X took about 6 weeks to arrive in Melbourne after the status had changed. On the insurance side, I had quotes from insuremytesla for $3.2k and RACV for $2.1k so went with the latter. As I’d taken most options, I had to go through to the...

Picked up X last night and...

I got this error message last Thursday on my 1 week old X (well, built 7th Nov plus shipping). I noticed some fluid leaking near the right rear tyre the day prior and once the error appeared I assumed they were related. As the weather has been fairly mild with only the odd hot day, I continued...
