Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

Interesting thread and I definitely share a lot of the sentiments here. Wanted to give my 2 cents as well. I have bought 4 Teslas and still own 3 of them, though I definitely wish I had used the money to buy TSLA during those years... time machine, I know... My first Tesla was a 2016 S60 when...

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

It's skewed towards "poorly manufactured" because people that got those cars typically like to whine about it :) while owners like you rarely share a smooth experience because it's really nothing special when it comes to buying and owning a car.

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

Even red restraint release buttons aren't on the list anymore, so yea, minimal differences
  4. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

Maybe you know something that he doesn't. I don't have a clue what modifications are done at the factory, but I have read that to import a US Model 3 to Canada, there's close to nothing that needs to be done to get up to spec, lol...

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

There is very little to none Canadianization in these cars, if my local SC manager is to be believed.

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

Some are now saying with heat pump, there's no heat when it's cold outside...
  7. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

How can the Canadian cars avoid that if they are being shipped from the same exact factory? :p
  8. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

    Good point :)
  9. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

I don't think any of my cars are lemons. They are just typical Tesla vehicles that are poorly manufactured. Not sure if you understand that or not. YMMV is Your Mileage May Vary. Some owners have never experienced any issues with build quality, some have, so it really depends. I don't quite...
  10. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

No, unless Tesla decides to do a SR- like they did for the 3
  11. Z

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

I think you just got lucky. I've owned a Model S, 3, and X and all three cars required, and still does require, countless number of trips to the SC or mobile appointments throughout the years. So it's definitely YMMV. But I have a feeling that you are just luckier than the average owner as we...

Model Y SR RWD available to order for $56,290

It's available on tesla.com for Canada as well. Anyone gonna order? ;)

Glad it worked out nicely for you. Enjoy the car.

    I am stressed, picking a used 2016 75d tomorrow

That's the used Tesla buying experience... It's a lot of guesswork and praying... Since you were picking up this weekend, I'm assuming you either have the car already or walked away. Hope you are enjoying it if you did go ahead with it though. Share with us your experience if you'd like.

Warranty Adjustment Program - Touchscreen Component

With tesla being tesla, I'm guessing it'd only apply to those that got the refurb unit. Those that went MCU2 would be out of luck as tesla would claim that to be an upgrade, lol... Just my wild guess though.

Who is buying model 3 plaid?

Llyod's location is in California, so yes, that number is USD

New Tesla 15.12kW Solar / 4 Powerwall order in Orlando

@BrettS I'm having a tough time getting hold of solar sales. Tried the chat function but gave me someone from CA and isn't responding to emails or calls. Let me know if you have any contact info that you could share, thanks.

    Winter Tire Swap

What's the price if only want the wheels no tires? Or maybe someone would consider splitting a package who may just want tires?

M3 & MY Leasing Option now available in Canada

Probably at a much higher interest rate to compensate for the higher risk.

deposit is needed to test drive model Y?

I have a friend that worked for Tesla in the US and he said they are indeed salaried with no commission per sale, but there are bonus for the team if they hit certain sales targets.

Preconstruction home electrical set up requirements

Cost would be another factor, at least for me. Pretty much every single thing my builder offered me was really overpriced, like $15/sqft to change the color of the hardwood, lol... However, the NEMA 14-50 in the garage was the most reasonable one on the list. They charged me $500 and I gladly...

    Price increase on all models

That's pretty cheap for an essentially new LR RWD.

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

No worries. It starts at $105,990 with the recent price drops.
  24. Z

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

He's talking about Canadian Dollars while you are talking US Dollars.
  25. Z

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

I always treat my Teslas as technology products rather than cars. If I have an older smart phone that is no longer getting updates, it's time to upgrade. Obviously Tesla cars are way more expensive than smart phones, but I try to convince myself mentally that way. Another way to think about is...

    Model Y in Canada

Yea, unless Elon decides to make it FWD.
  27. Z

    Model Y in Canada

The current Tesla exchange rate is 1.4. A single motor MY would be close to $45K US, which would be $63kCAD. That'd be my guess
  28. Z

    MCU 2 $3,310 in Canada

So you'll have to wait for 6 weeks without a working MCU? How does that even make sense? You'd think they'd offer you MCU2 in this case (obviously whether you want it or not is another question).
  29. Z

    CPO purchase shenanigans

That's very typical Tesla, lol... The benefit of buying used via Tesla is also very clear, you get a new warranty and the pricing is pretty competitive. I would just schedule service appointments after you take delivery and get the issues addressed.

One year of free Supercharging for inventory cars in end-of-quarter push ?

It could very well be just for the US, not Canada

Kenauk Nature Resort - Montebello, Quebec

Added the resort to my list. I know it's off topic, but where else do you guys recommend to visit from the GTA?

Best Insurance Rates for Model 3?

Yea, it's likely to be really minor things. I doubt the US version has stickers in French though. Plus the LTE chip you mentioned. You are gonna have to go into the SC to get those done.
  33. Z

Best Insurance Rates for Model 3?

There are other threads about various attempts to import US Tesla cars to Canada with no success story, so yours is certainly encouraging. The issue has always been with Tesla not playing ball with the "modifications" necessary, not the import/export part. Anyways, glad that it's working out...
  34. Z

Best Insurance Rates for Model 3?

Have you figured out the import stuff? I don't think we've heard of any success stories here yet. S3X are finally on the MTO's admissible list, but last time I checked Tesla hasn't rolled out the service program for US imports yet. I ended up having to sell mine cause I couldn't import it, but...

    CPO Model X P100D delivery

I feel the same. The S is my favorite to drive among the tesla cars

    Non-Tesla EVs in Canada

My list would look like this: Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Ioniq, Kona/Niro, Ford Focus Electric, VW eGolf. You'd have to rely on third-party charging networks since charging at home isn't an option. Level 3 charging would be the alternative to supercharging.
  37. Z

    Model X opportunity

CPO with low mileage and accident or high mileage no accident? I had a similar question when I was buying mine. Check the poll results, not sure if it's helpful or not though. I ended up with the higher mileage one with no accident history, mostly to avoid surprises when I have to sell in the...

Used Model S prices dropped by 4-8 K today

Used Model S prices dropped by 4-8 K today

It's probably not every car, but quite a few have dropped in price. A 2017 FSD HW2.5 dropped $9k today and was sold at $71k. I really should have waited the extra couple of months, lol... Didn't even get to drive the car at all since I picked up mine

Used Model S prices dropped by 4-8 K today

It's crazy... a used MX was sold at $55900 today...

    Buying used Tesla besides Tesla?

They started selling rim packages apparently, so I'm sure they just took the 19s off and put on 18s and sold if for less? Their financing rates are higher than Tesla, so that's something to consider as well.
  42. Z

    Buying used Tesla besides Tesla?

It's a pretty popular place for used Tesla cars. The guys there are ex-Tesla employees, so they are pretty specialized in them. I would still buy it from Tesla direct if you can though.

Costco Wheel Sale - Will it work on Model 3?

Here are the wheels for Model 3. What do you guys think? The Apollo one doesn't look too bad.

    Owning two Teslas now

I would say the combination of a 3/Y and S/X would be ideal. I don't have a Y, but after owning the other three models, I feel like this combo would give you all the options out there. LR 3 or Y would have the new tech and range, S/X for the comfort and space.

There is. Just register on Scotiabank's website.

Anyone purchase used from Tesla site?

@SilverGS was there a reason you didn't get the financing through Tesla? My rate was a lot lower (3.45% for 72 months) than anything the banks would offer me directly.

    Auto pilot 6,000?

Cost to Import from US? Possible? Not worth it?

I'm from there, but moved to Toronto for a new job (and to escape from T****). It seems like it'll be a good idea for me to keep my Cali license as long as possible, haha...
