    New 75D or Showroom (11/17) 100D

Personally for me not having the PUP would be a deal-breaker. Otherwise I'd totally go for the 100D. I'm sure some would disagree but for me it is strange for a car in this price range to be bought without the PUP features and you may have a very hard time selling it later without the PUP...

    2016 P100DL (Loaded) - Asking Price $105K

Has there been any CPO P100Ds for around the $100K price point?

    Price Check 100D

If you configure that car brand new, it is about $110K. So you subtract $25K for miles, $7,500 for the rebate, and $14,000 for the 14 months and it comes to $63K. I realize that is on the low side but a figure to keep in mind nevertheless because this car has a ton of miles for barely a year of...

    Premium Upgrades Package

Absolutely. We are looking to buy a Tesla and will not even consider buying one without the PUP features. Our view is when there are cars available to buy with the PUP features, why even bother buying one without the PUP features since the price difference is not that great. Get the PUP because...

    Premium Upgrades Package

I personally would not buy a Tesla without the PUP. The upgraded stereo alone makes a big difference and the other features are also very nice to have. Also don't forget you get a part of that $5K back when you sell the car and it would make it easier to sell the car. The heated steering wheel...

    My CPO Play By Play

Because we know other forum members have had to refuse delivery because their car was delivered in poor condition so what they did for the OP, they have not done for everyone. I guess the moral of the story is to create a well publicized thread documenting and detailing everything as soon as...

Opportunity to trade in my 85 for a P85.. worth it?

I'd definitely go for a P85 or rather an 85D which will give you the same acceleration, plus AWD and AP. Even if you pay a bit more I would instead look for an 85D.

Does Tesla really want to have the worst CPO Program in the world?

I beg to differ. The CPO program is now worse than the time of the the well publicized post about someone buying a CPO car and receiving the car in dismal condition. The current policy allows Tesla to sell cars that basically pass inspection and little else. What is this about paying "used...

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

How can you possibly lose your deposit if a car is sold with stock pictures of a brand new car and any damage to the vehicle is not disclosed in the sale listing? o_O
  11. E

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

I understand that vehicles they have had in their loaner fleet for months and months while being offered for sale as CPO cars likely have quite a bit of additional wear and tear after being driven by dozens of people who probably cared little for the car. Do they place trade-ins and lease...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Were the cars you looked at CPO cars before deciding to purchase private party? The current policy of selling CPO cars "as is" without refurbishing is especially unnerving for anyone who has bought German CPO cars because you get used to being treated just as well as buying a new car and in...

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

What a beautiful car! This is how we maintain our cars as well. We have a vehicle 8 years old and it is pretty much in pristine condition :) Whoever buys it from us will be very lucky. The problem with the Tesla CPO cars is that they loan them out to random people so if a car ends up being used...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

The OP created this thread because he received a car in "crap" condition and he thought that made the CPO process a scam. At least the OP had the comfort in knowing that the car he received was supposed to be refurbished so he had some standing to make a case to please have the car refurbished...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I think we are there already for the CPO cars. Someone started this thread due to an unfortunate situation with the car he bought and rather than things being made more reasonable for future customers, it has been made worse. With them not refurbishing cars any more it would be silly to put ~...

    Tesla CPO Pricing

In the past Tesla has changed their mind about policies that were bad for their customers and I hope they will make this right. They should offer customers who buy these cars some peace of mind beyond the car working "mechanically." IMHO Tesla should treat their customers at least as well as...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

The Mercedes ABC system is notoriously expensive to repair and this new system is likely even more expensive. Personally, I wish whatever suspension they offer in the future be robust as with many of these sophisticated suspensions, if it breaks down, often times you can't drive the car any more.
  18. E

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

The problem with the "experience" now is that it could be anything. Even if some people post that they received a car in decent shape, it means nothing because they no longer have standards to offer cars in like new condition other than the guarantee that the car works mechanically. So if the...

Does Tesla really want to have the worst CPO Program in the world?

I agree, what Tesla has done here is really sad and an awful way to treat their customers. We are in the same situation you are in and like you, have a hard time with the current way Tesla sells these cars, as it is essentially a crap shoot. You COULD end up with a car that is in decent shape...

    Would you buy a 2014 Model S P85D now

I agree completely but they offer a different experience for different people. I personally prefer the April 2015 and beyond suspension to what is called the "Plus Suspension" but I know some like the "Plus Suspension." To me, the suspension after April 2015 is more comparable to a German...

    Would you buy a 2014 Model S P85D now

If you picked up your P85D last week, it was likely bought under the old policy where they refurbished cars. With the new policy you could get a pristine car or a car with interior and exterior damage and need to then take the car to a Tesla body shop at your own expense so the situation could...

    Would you buy a 2014 Model S P85D now

Look up the P85Ds on cars.com. Several listings in the mid to early 60s and you may have some room for negotiation as well.

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I hear what you are saying but even the most unscrupulous car dealer has figured out how to sell used cars that are refurbished and still make a nice profit. Tesla should be able to offer a quality refurbished product at least as well as a used car dealer o_O What makes this especially worse...
  25. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

That's what makes this horrible policy so sad :( The thing is I have nothing against maximizing profits as long as they treat their customers well. I honestly don't see how this policy neither maximizes their profit (with all the ill-will and tarnishing of their reputation and trust) nor treat...

Referral Problem that Tesla cannot seem to solve

They are. No one else has a referral program :p
  27. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

You say you have dealt with buying CPO but I find your comments really surprising because then you would know that every car dealer reconditions CPO cars that they sell. Car dealers have really cleaned up their CPO business. We've bought a few and they are almost like buying a new car and that's...

  29. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Oh my god no. You really must not have ever bought a CPO car to say that. It is well documented that every automaker who sells cars in the US completely refurbishes the CPO cars that they sell to look as if they were like new and they back that up with photos to show the refurbished state of the...

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

Lipstick on a pig? :p They still say you have to pay extra to fix damage to the car so the "as is" policy for cars being sold without disclosing the condition of the car is essentially the same...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I totally agree with you that Tesla should do a better job treating their customers than suggest they take the car they just bought to a body shop for repair o_O I feel a bunch of Tesla customers who expect Tesla to sell cars like Mercedes, Audi, Porsche in the same price range are going to be...
  32. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I too love Tesla and hope they do the right thing by changing this policy of telling customers to buy a CPO car and then take it to a body shop to fix anything wrong at the customer's own expense because they no longer refurbish the cars.

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I absolutely love Tesla and could not imagine buying a car that was not a Tesla. I really want them to succeed and obliterate their competition who dragged their heels on building EVs as long as they could. Having said that, I hate to say this, but the attitude you experienced and the new Tesla...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

But this refrain should not apply when you buy a car from Tesla. Tesla should do better and the low bar to clear is what a car dealer would do and in this case car dealers sell cars in a much more transparent and reasonable way. What I find really disappointing about this new CPO policy of...
  36. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

The problem is there is a huge gap between "clean" and how just about every car dealer sells $70,000 used cars that are in impeccable like new condition. The problem is they've made the process worse with the recent policy where they can just wipe down and wash a car with various issues and...

Does Tesla really want to have the worst CPO Program in the world?

Looks like CarMax sold a couple of the Tesla vehicles and they are now down to 2. Just look at the two Tesla vehicles they have available with photos. They are both reconditioned to look pristine and like new. Why can't Tesla sell used cars like CarMAx or just offload their inventory to CarMax...
  38. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I think they need to figure out a another solution than have their CPO inventory beaten to death as service loaners. It seems some people who receive loaners really abuse their cars and I wish Tesla would withhold the best condition trade in vehicles for sale as refurbished CPO vehicles rather...
  39. E

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

It is because you bought your car before they made changes to the CPO policy where they are now selling cars unrefurbished. I checked again and they do not do refurbish cars. If there is anything wrong beyond the car working mechanically, they suggest that you take the car to a body shop for...
  40. E

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

Sure but there has to be some middle ground between that and we don't refurbish, take the used Tesla you just bought to a body shop and get it fixed. That attitude is inconsiderate and disrespectful for someone paying $70,000 for a used car. No car dealer would treat a CPO customer this way. It...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

I agree. If I was the OP, I would have worked with Tesla to find a different car and they likely would have CPO'd the car for him and made sure he receives a quality car that is refurbished after all this hassle. I really believe Tesla would have made sure the OP is happy. I can understand why...
  42. E

    "non refurbished" CPOs?

But how can that be though because it seems many of the CPO cars are used as loaners and in the past they seem to have refurbished cars only when someone buys it. I don't recall someone buying a CPO car that was already refurbished where they only had to ship it. Seems the usual routine is...

First time ever seeing Model S for sale as Carmax!

That's about expected. If you look at cars.com, there are P85Ds sometimes in the late 50s and early to mid 60s. In fact Tesla has sold some CPO P85Ds around the same price.

First time ever seeing Model S for sale as Carmax!

There are now 4 Teslas for sale by CarMax. Including a A P85D for $68K with only 10K miles and a Model X P90D for $89K. What's great is that these cars can be bought with the knowledge that they have been reconditioned and with a great warranty. If I find the right car, I'd actually be fine...
  47. E

Does Tesla really want to have the worst CPO Program in the world?

Thanks for posting this! I really hope CarMax expands this program nationwide. It's embarrassing how CarMax does a much better job of selling Tesla vehicles than Tesla, as they offer high resolution photos and refurbish the car to look like new. If CarMax can do this, why can't Tesla? Perhaps...

First time ever seeing Model S for sale as Carmax!

I really hope this goes well for CarMax as well! This is how used Teslas should be sold... Lots of photos, CarFax/vehicle history, refurbished to look like new, and offered with a comprehensive extended warranty. At 5 years, this is better than the Tesla CPO warranty.

Does Tesla really want to have the worst CPO Program in the world?

There is nothing unusual or sudden about knowing lease cars are coming due in 2 or 3 years as they've known that for 2-3 years... o_O I really think this has more to do with the CPO inventory being trashed as loaners and they want people who buy those cars to pay for that damage but they don;t...
