Canada Model S Plaid and LR orders and deliveries!

My response: In response to your request for feedback regarding the proposed luxury tax, I would like to address my concerns over the proposed $100k threshold for cars. While I don't disagree with the idea of a luxury tax, I would proposed the following modifications: 1) Fully Electric Battery...

Saskatchewan: $150/Year Road Tax for EVs Effective October 1

I've been warning this day will come for a while Gas tax is not proportional either, I still buy a lot of gas in summer for my boat, it's not like my boat uses public roads. regardless of the system people will still complain. The cost to build and maintain roads is say $25Billion (I don't know...

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

The problem will for current buyers will be a massive depreciation once the pricing re-adjusts. Had similar problem with my LR RWD, I think the pricing was like $73k (with EAP) when I got mine, I can get a dual motor with AP for like $67k now

NEMA 14-50 Receptacle installation in Ottawa

Do you have 200AMP service? The ESA gets all bent up with 100AMP panels and electric chargers. I would also consider installing a 30AMP plug, there's no need for 50 AMP, the mobile charger max charge is 32AMP (40AMP breaker), but there's nothing wrong with using a 24AMP feed - (Dryer plug...

    Is 120v charging enough

Depends how often you drive, if you leave it plugged in all the time at home it should be OK, unless you always drive like over 150km/day That's OK for summer, winter may be a problem

EV tax write-off: can it be spread over multiple years?

If you declare 70% business use on your personal income tax then can you deduct it? I read the working and seems confusing, mostly seems to refer to Businesses buying the vehicles, not individuals for business use 70% of $55k is still a nice amount

Potential Canadian luxury tax on cars over $100K

Ok not to turn this into the Great Canadian Debate here, but Alberta's GDP is dependent on the rest of Canada, and vis-versa. Alberta is not island, nor is Quebec or Ontario. Saying stuff like "Alberta subsidizes your tax tax bill" is not accurate. It's similar to say a family where father is a...

Potential Canadian luxury tax on cars over $100K

Perhaps, but more than likely the $100k limit will not move, yet vehicle prices will increase with inflation, leading to more tax revenue. They need to build inflation into the policy to move thresholds based on CPI or some other measure

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

I use my RWD M3 in winter to access my cottage Quebec on a 2km private hilly road, I will tell you there is absolutely no problem with RWD, the main issue with the M3 is limited ground clearance in deep snow, Dual Motor may help a bit but not much you need to forget all your 1970's experiences...

Cost to Import from US? Possible? Not worth it?

I Imported a slightly used Jetta GLI back in 2008 from the US, since it was being sold for export I did not pay local taxes (PA), they shipped it to Watertown NY area for me. I saved over $10k, drove it for 2 years and sold it for the same price as I paid Import process was quite easy and simple

Model Y May Soon Qualify for $5K Rebate

Everybody needs to make sure we voice our displeasure with the USD/CAD exchange issue. There is no reason why a Model Y DMLR costs $69,900, it should be no more than $64,900 (incl freight etc..) This waiting for ID.4 pricing to come out in Canada, That will give a kick in the butt to Tesla. I...

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

This is why incentives are needed, 8 years ago a model S with 400km range cost $140k, now a Model 3 with more range is $50k, incentives help push the advancement in commercialization and will bring price points down. in 3-4 years I would bet the SR+ will be around $40k (with around 500km range)...

iPace is a flop, they can't give them away, even with up to $20k incentives. I think Jaguar are taking a bath on iPace. Tesla engineers crapped the bed on the Gen 3 Wall Connector

Yeah I don't think understand. ESA is our Electrical Safety Authority in Ontario, and if they force you to rate the charger at 60AMP, then all 100AMP home service (most homes in Ontario) will not pass... that's the issue. I have mine set at 20AMP for that reason which is plenty by the way.. why...

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

Yes but the US site does not have destination included... just trying to compare apple and apples here And no - they don't need a "buffer", I work in industrial distribution, we have a lot of US Dollar inventory (like billions$) we don't buffer, we hedge the risk

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

I was comparing USD List vs Canadian (destination excluded) when I said price should be $65k Furthermore Dollar has been much lower than 1.30 since late November so even 1.30 is not a great exchange rate but i'd be happy with that
  40. Blu-Ion

Model Y should be $6500 cheaper in Canada

Edit: Looks like Tesla is using close 1.30 on base Model Y, but still around 1.37 for the dual motor version. That one need to come down to around $65k to be at least close to the exchange rate and in line with the rate used on Standard Range Y
