Trip Report: Reno, NV (Presidents Day Weekend 2020)

Very enjoyable saga. Bruce. These are all places have been, but not with the Tesla. Our only adventurous trip so far, and I highly recommend it, was Bay Area to Crater Lake and then on to the coast via Grant's Pass. We followed the Russian River to the coast and took the coastal route (101...

    Premium connectivity

I don't think I have ever won anything in my life, but I'm so glad Mother's Day is in May. My car was a Mother's Day gift and we ordered it on that day in '18. It was delivered in June and has unlimited free supercharging and premium connectivity. I feel like that was a big win!

    Back to Weaving?

I have noticed it too. Friday I was on a busy freeway with 6 lanes in my direction. Autosteer was all over the place.

Supercharger - San Ramon, CA - Diablo Plaza (LIVE 5 Apr 2019, 20 Urban stalls)

I looked at the date of your post and all the chargers are now back in service. Around the time BMAH posted, a tree had fallen on a Tesla and taken out several of the chargers. They are all in working order now.

    "Export" vs "Domestic" side mirrors

We put Suma Performance convex rear view mirrors on our Tesla S and they are wonderful. They are similar to the euro designed mirrors. They were a perfect fit and snapped into place without any problems in about 10 minutes. Check them out. Premium Blind Spot Mirrors (convex wide angle and...

Features I had to give up when I bought a Tesla

Several of you commented on missing "blind spot" monitoring. I'm 5'2" and visibility is crucial for me. I bought a pair of Suma Performance convex side mirrors and they make a world of difference. They take a little getting used to, but the rear and side visibility is terrific. You see not...

Supercharger - San Ramon, CA (expanded to 16 V2 stalls)

I drove past Diablo Plaza yesterday and there were 12 cars on the chargers. I could tell some of the spaces were ICED, but I didn't see anyone waiting. I checked Target on my screen and only 4 cars were charging. That's unusual. I have a feeling that there is going to be some friction with...

Supercharger - San Ramon, CA (expanded to 16 V2 stalls)

Does anyone know if they have increased charging rate at the Target Superchargers? At least some of the pressure will be off Diablo Plaza. There were 11 cars on chargers when I came by today.

Supercharger - San Ramon, CA - Diablo Plaza (LIVE 5 Apr 2019, 20 Urban stalls)

I saw that last night. If that is your beautiful car, I feel really badly for you. Because of the power outages in the neighborhood as well as other areas in the city, there was a high demand for chargers last night. I think about 6 chargers were roped off, and several were ICEd.

Sweet sweet revenge at the Oxnard Tesla Supercharger today.

Maybe we need "Made in USA" stickers for our Teslas.

Supercharger - San Ramon, CA (expanded to 16 V2 stalls)

I wish what ever they are doing, they would hurry up and do it. Things are gettin a little testy at Diablo Plaza between ICE cars and Teslas.

    Motorcyclist Hostility

There seems to be an assumption that the driver is alert and sees or hears the lane splitter coming. Especially in heavy Sf Bay Area traffic, I am watching my mirrors regularly and often I still don't see them coming, or they are really fast or they just appear from another lane. I would...

My screen says temporary closure. I also noticed today there were repair trucks working on the chargers at Diablo Plaza. ??? I didn't have time to stop and check it out.

My key fob got auto-locked inside the car

This kind of thing can happen to anyone. There are so many things we do by habit and rote and it happened to me today. After a couple of months of driving the S exclusively, I needed our Jeep to haul some stuff. I parked the car, made sure I had the fob in my pocket and walked away. After...

    My 2016 Tesla Model S 75D story - purchased June 2019

Our 14-50 installation is very similar. We ran ours in a metal conduit outside the drywall in the garage, and then in the wall to the box. The total run to the box was about 16 feet. We used the same size wire that you did. It has worked very well for us. We are really lucky to have a...

Sold a New Car, Found out its Used

Obviously this was a clue right off the bat. I truly understand your excitement and anticipation, and you knew that advisor was lying through his teeth as soon as you saw the car. I waited 4 years for my MS. Having always bought new cars or demos, I would have shared your concern about the...

    Switched on my system today!

Here we get credit for everything we send back to the grid after subtracting what we use, and that is applied to the next year's bill. The thing that really annoys me is that California doesn't count hydroelectric as renewablel. The PUC fears that if they count hydroelectric then there will be...

    Switched on my system today!

Our solar system is six years old and has worked flawlessly. We didn't anticipate an electric car when we put them up, so we are a little behind the curve this year. At "True Up" next month, we figure our annual bill will be around $120. We are talking about adding about 4 more panels. It is...

Dispute Resolution - Ncds / Screen Defects / Anyone Ever Try This?

This made me laugh. I grew up near Detroit when you ordered your car EXACTLY like you wanted. When you got the call with the date it was scheduled to come off the assembly line, if it was Monday or Friday, you cancelled the order. Monday and Friday cars were notorious for assembly errors. The...

Pros and Cons of Owning a Tesla

There are so many factors to consider when suggesting someone buy a Tesla or any EV vehicle. Lifestyle, personality, driving needs, ability to charge easily and conveniently, and access to service centers come to mind. I'm a relative newbie here. Our car is one year old last week and we...

Please Tell Me This Isn’t Normal

Whenever I am driving on AP my mind keeps saying "Beta - Beta - Beta" over and over. To me that means it expects me to pay very close attention. Driving south on Highway 5 in CA it quit fairly frequently. It's a very straight road. I'm not sure why, there wasn't anything I noticed except...

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

That is so cute! If I'm not mistaken, that's a fiberglass and aluminum trailer. I wonder how many kWhs it would take to haul that over the Tehapachi or Tejon Passes with a horse in it?
  35. Mary Starfnbu

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

Yes, but you can't pull a horse trailer with a Tesla. :::sigh:::
  36. Mary Starfnbu

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

I wouldn't quibble about $100 either if it actually goes to our roads and not alternative transportation (bullet train) or the general fund. It's 1 and 1/4 tank for our Jeep.

Please Tell Me This Isn’t Normal

That happened to me one time. I was really concerned about the turn signal since I was in a lot of traffic, then I noticed the reflection of my turn signal blinking away on back of the car ahead. It was comforting that the signal was working even though I had no other indication. On the next...

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

I can't believe California hasn't instituted an EV tax. They tax you for everything else imaginable. I think the air quality board has pushed EVs so heavily on ICE owners to go electric that there would be quite a backlash. We even received a letter from the air board last week offering us...

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

I'm probably guaranteeing I'll get a ticket if I say this, but yesterday we sold our 1991 Twin Turbo Nissan 300ZX. We drove that car for 28 years with no front plate and no tickets. We drove a BMW 335i for 12 years with no front plate and no ticket. The buyer didn't care that we couldn't find...

Model 3 owner in a loaner Model S: impressions

We live in the same situation. New homes being built here have driveways too short to accommodate much of anything bigger than a Mini, and minimum size garages, so they are going to be left with a lot of on-street parking when these houses are occupied. Teslas are very popular here and 3s are...

Poll: "Systems are powering up" error message

It was happening to me every morning and after a wait of at least a minute with nothing happening, it took a reboot to bring up the dash and the screen. I was also often losing the back-up camera display. I seem to be behind the curve, because I haven't had an upgrade since 19.12.1.2, but...

Fix-it Ticket : No Front Plate

I live in CA as well, and when we picked up our MS it had a front plate bracket when I had specifically asked for no bracket. (My ID image was taken in Fremont when we picked up the car.) They said it was required. That bracket was on there to stay! The screws were proprietary and would not...

Yellow bands of death can disable some touchscreen controls

After reading these posts, I went out to look at the screen on our June 2018 S100D. Sure enough there is a faint yellow glow around the edge of the screen. I hope there will be a permanent solution on the horizon, soon.

Positive Post: 25k miles in and I love my S100D

This is a welcome thread! I've been a car buff since I was a kid. My first car was an old Hudson, which dates me a bit. Four years ago a neighbor had a visitor with a Tesla S and I went to look at it. He asked my if I'd like to drive it and I was totally hooked. Every time my husband asked...
