    Mexico Superchargers

this is Mexico, country of "opacidad". Forget about finding any reliable info online. Guesstimates: Model X: Round about 1,000 Model S: Round about 500 Model 3 Reservations: Round about 3,000

    Mexico Superchargers

Mexico update: General Manager resigned/replaced effective date 01.01.2019. Absolutely no press coverage. Same goes for Mexico communications director. It was her (GM) https://www.linkedin.com/in/fran%C3%A7oise-lavertu-stevens-4b0448/ IMO, totally incapable. "overseeing Latin America biz...

Model 3 Mid-range is Best for Road Trips?

IMO, it's more like a suggestion in order to keep congestions at superchargers low. If you look at the usual charging curve, 40 mins is pretty much the sweet spot.

Model 3 Mid-range is Best for Road Trips?

I think the idea of superchargers is: you charge as much as required to get to the next supercharger If your destination is less far away t+ has a destination charging option, you charge even less In 40 mins arriving with a 10 % battery in a LR, you'll charge about 50-60 KwH. That should be...

    Supercharging Nightmare Begins

IMO, it's a bit different here: With an electric car, the idea actually is you always start your (daily) commute with a full charge and have some charging possibility at your destination. The Supercharger is actually the equivalent to the gas station for long(er) trips, yet subtracted by the...

    Supercharging Nightmare Begins

you guys have at least 24/7 SUPERCHARGER access. Superchargers around Mexico City are 11 AM - 10 PM.

Model 3 MR charges at 32 amp vs LR at 48 amp

I'd say you answered it: You just get the same HW part, software "adapts" it. Less complexity for the manufacturer + they can sell "upgrades" which are already built into the car. Drive Units: Possibly a Performance Model available as an upgrade?
  8. T

Supercharger Tier 1 vs Tier 2

No. Charging ist most expensive in Tier 2 when it's really close to 60 Kw, yet still slightly above that and cheapest if it's slightly below 60 Kwh to be in Tier 1. If you're charging with let's say 100 KW, yet only get billed for Tier 2 which is 60 KW and up, you pay relatively less than if...

Supercharger Tier 1 vs Tier 2

There is really nothing you can do. It all depends on 3 factors: Battery state of charge once you plug in type of supercharger (urban up to 72 KW vs. extra-urban up to 110 KW) Charge curve of the battery itself. Edit: Former poster explained it perfectly.
  10. T

    Mexico Superchargers

Yeah, security might be the reason here. Does not explain the 11 AM curfew though, which would bother me even more than the 10 PM closure. If it was 6.00 AM or sunrise till 11.00 PM, I'd say: Ok, not perfect, but managable. But 11.00 AM till 10.00 PM, aka 11 out of 24 hours of the day? I'd...

    Mexico Superchargers

I think so, too. Which means that Tesla choose the wrong place for their Superchargers. Night time driving: Yes, understandable. But that would render your vehicle useless in any emergency situation which may involve nights.
  12. T

    Mexico Superchargers

The objective would be of course: Either open the superchargers 24/7 or return the funds of the car. Is there actually some sort of other supercharger anywhere else in the world which is time restricted access wise?
  13. T

    Mexico Superchargers

Guys, I need your opinion: If you had a Tesla down here (in the CDMX area) and Tesla retroactively rendered your vehicle partially useless (due to the "time" access restriction to the superchargers around Mexico City), would you sue? Reasons: a) there is no other fast-charging network in...

Price of Supercharging in the future?

I think the best would be to have a J1772 which works like the Tesla connector: Lock in/Lock out, done. Was probably a really good idea Tesla went with a proprietarian connector after all. Really chaotic the whole thing, somethin like a mini-USB standard would be the best.
  15. T

California to Mexico City and back. Feasible or too difficult?

Ride sharing is the best idea in CDMX. Btw, you are technically not even allowed to take a foreign plated car into the CDMX area during the majority of weekdays Police will stop you anyway and assume you don't know the rules. You can imagine further procedures. Don't count on police...

    Mexico Superchargers

Guys, bad news for unlimited mobility: The following MX-superchargers have been updated to the following access hours: Monday-Sunday; 11.00 AM - 10.00 PM Atizapan de Zaragoza, EM Supercharger | Tesla Chilpancingo de los Bravo, GRO Supercharger | Tesla Cuernavaca, MOR Supercharger | Tesla...

    Mid range battery available now?

same here. Particularly since the range is reduced dramatically, as can be observed in the following youtube vid: My dream configuration for the model 3: LR, RWD, light grey CLOTH interior, silver outside, 18 inch (or smaller) aeros. Seems to be available: NEVER.
  20. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

what is your suggestion to fix the problem with low overhead costs?
  21. T

    Mid range battery available now?

currently it's 11 K + with the performance package. Performance package alone is worth how much?
  22. T

    Mid range battery available now?

Here we go. Now can we suggest Elon and his peers to offer that uncorking afterwards....for like 5,000 USD
  23. T

    Mid range battery available now?

I know it's the case with the model S/model X, though Model 3 seems to be one piece/part only
  24. T

    Mid range battery available now?

Wait a minute, yet they offered aero 18s with the performance model (allthough without the upgrade package). Probably smth to do with calipers in the end?
  25. T

    Mid range battery available now?

that's interesting. If so, maybe they'd just allow an "uncorking" for the normal Model 3 LR AWD (which is available with 18 inch aeros currently) and thereby one would have a Model 3 LR AWD Performance with 18 inch aero wheels again.
  26. T

    Mid range battery available now?

I guess the rear motor in the P model is different.
  27. T

    Mid range battery available now?

Yep, and that's why I was particularly upset: According to Troy's list, theres is no range penalty Model 3 LR AWD vs. Model 3 LR Performance AWD when equipped with 18 inch aeros.
  28. T

    Mid range battery available now?

Model 3 Performance with Performance upgrade package requires wheels bigger than 18 inch as far as I know, aka they wont fit.
  29. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

Wow, just wow. I'd call it "you're getting srewed".
  30. T

    Mid range battery available now?

Some Germans got roughly that at 22 mph with an LR RWD:
  31. T

    Mid range battery available now?

very true. Tesla has mastered the first principles, while other EV makers seems to struggle on these ones. which is why I don't understand Tesla does not offer the Model 3 Performance AWD with 18 inch aeros any more for now. Nor the LR RWD. They've effectivly stripped 2 high range variants of...
  32. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

how much is your home energy cost?
  33. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

Very true. Might be better to just have a simple J1772 which fits into basically every EV.
  34. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

Yep, I think 50 USD is very high actually, most workers don't even come in daily these days with home office and stuff. 4 hour max: too complicated IMO. Adds complexity. Just install a 14-50 outlet on lets say 50 % of the parking spots outside and prohibit ICE cars parking there. got an EV car...
  35. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

If the employer was clever they'd just install 14-50s. 9.6 KWh/parking spot/hour at best. That's 0.96 USD (at 10 US-Cents all in costs)/hour if used for charging. Most EVs don't even have a 40 AMP on board charger. How much will the average employee charge? I'd say 30 KwH at most. We are...
  36. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

In other words, noone told them they are on par output wise with a 14-30 NEMA. which costs probably 30 USD at home depot + 300 USD for installation.
  37. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

correct. In other words, it's more useful just to have an ICE if you drive few miles. Driving few miles is bad for the engine, bad for pollution, bad for everything. But hey, the gov. got it's share because of muh roads...
  38. T

  39. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

    great business move by them.
  40. T

Price of Supercharging in the future?

flat most, down likely. More solar power installed, batteries to offset grid imbalances becoming much cheaper. I would not be surprised to see 0.20 USD/kwH in the bay area over 5 years.

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

the moneyed portion of them: Most def.
  42. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

that's usually the case. If you don't have the high IQ people in the first place (or attract them, which the USA are very good at), there is no innovation. Neither in clusters, nor elsewhere.
  43. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

Bjoern Lomborg does not disagreee. What matters is cheap energy. Solar is getting dramatically cheaper, but still not there. Since EVs are much more efficent than ICEs, it still actually makes sense to have them powered by traditional power stations currently.
  44. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

That's why countries with average low IQs have so much innovation. and brands. and EVs.
  45. T

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

That's bad news. The range of the performance model with 18 inch aeros was the same as the LR Model 3 AWD. In other words, if it's range only, last week brought two downgrades: 1. No more LR RWD 2. No more P3 AWD with 18 inch aeros
  46. T

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

does that mean that technically there is no more Model 3Perfomance with 18 inch aero wheels available?
  47. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

I'm pretty sure the Pick-Up will sort out all these problems.
  48. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

No. I meant 150+. I'm not politically affiliated. He was part of "the club". Grades rather don't matter.
  49. T

ICE: Would you ever go back?

The current one has an IQ of > 150. Were you referring to former ones?

    Mexico Superchargers

There is no Supercharger in Baja/north of the Border from San Diego on the peninsula so far. I don't know what you are referring to. Destination chargers are plenty though. Not tourists, everyone on the street. Won't change ever. It's "culture". The problems start way above in hierarchy...
