    Customer Service destroys loyalty

Sounds like you’re a BMW fan; not a sedan, but the X5 xDrive 45e is a plug-in option that is an outstanding “do it all” vehicle. Fabulously composed ride, quick, supremely comfortable. Full electric-wise, the iX just dropped…

    EAP Coming Back

I bit the bullet back then too, then when I sold the car, got literally nothing for it. So this go around, made complete sense to skip it altogether. Between subscription and tiering plus the limited value FSD actually gives you, it was an easy decision.

    Induction wheels increase post order?

    no, they've always been $2000.

    Removing FSD Pre-Delivery

Me too. 3x. Almost did it again. Really glad I didn't - autopilot is great and I don't miss "FSD."
  9. john85775

    Removing FSD Pre-Delivery

And Acceleration Boost if you're getting the LR. Arguably the most studied non-Tesla resource on all things Tesla firmware and FSD is on twitter as @greentheonly. If you're not familiar, they reverse engineer every release and find Easter eggs + hints of things to come, deconstructed HW3, etc...

    Removing FSD Pre-Delivery

Ouch. SA has you by the short and curly hairs. I'd escalate - it's worth $10k to me. And I'd even forgo the $500 / $1000. FSD is simply not worth it.

    Model Y ride comfort?

We took delivery of a regular LR MY with 20” wheels (then added acceleration boost). The 20” wheels are ironically too bumpy for me, especially on city streets - but my wife doesn’t complain because she loved the look. We test drove the MYP and the ride quality was seriously just too harsh...

    Removing FSD Pre-Delivery

Reasons for not doing FSD before delivery are legion. Financial: 1) Extreme depreciation at resale 2) Subscription option imminient 3) Sales tax / registration aspect (varies between states) 4) Tesla's pattern of discounting / promotions / trials timed with every major release - just try...

    Removing FSD Pre-Delivery

Two completely different practices for the exact same scenario. As much as there’s a stigma on other brands’ “stealerships,” the inconsistencies between SAs are rampant. I’ve purchased four new Teslas from three different locations In two states; my best advice is to get a recommendation for...

Standard Range in Existing Inventory all over U.S.

We live in a four season environment near the mountains. Sort of of the school of thought that if a vehicle can be ordered with AWD, you get the AWD.

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

Many on these forums are understandably single-focused on Tesla prices without seeing the bigger picture.

Standard Range in Existing Inventory all over U.S.

I was responding to your “$10k for most range you can buy as an unnecessary premium”. It buys more than range.

    Current Delivery Times

Yes, I noticed the car at 10pm and there was no way my SA would jump on it. So doing another $100 deposit is the fastest way to secure the inventory car. My SA then swapped the car on my original RN and made that a custom, pushed out to the end of the year.

April 15. Never got a VIN. Pulled the trigger on an inventory car 4/26 (12 miles on odo). Car was within 200 miles of our showroom/service center, so no delivery fee.

Gave up and picked up a new car from inventory (LR MY, blue, black interior, 5 seat, induction wheels). Matched everything except white interior, wife preferred black anyhow. SA matched to my order and honored the reservation price, which pre-dated 2 of the 3 increases. EV-CPO, the refresh...

    LR Price Increase

Not to mention their underlying costs are escalating. It’s both supply AND demand of their cars and the constituent parts, labor etc. all of it is going up and to the right.
  24. john85775

    LR Price Increase

Sure, if you‘re ok with a bumpy ride, lowered suspension and buying a set of winter wheels/tires.
  25. john85775

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

Wishful thinking. Copper and steel prices have gone up 2x and 3x. Retailers passing on CPG increases. Etc etc. You can’t print money and keep rates near zero then expect deflation….

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

My wife suffers from “All or nothing” thinking sometimes too. And she sometimes gets concerned that if she approves one step in a direction I’m advocating that it‘s going to be interpreted as a full green light. More of a “me” problem for sure. But yeah, reservations aren’t commitments, they’re...

    LR Price Increase

    Printing money has consequences.
  28. john85775

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

Not to be trite, but Inflation sucks. Used car prices are stupid high, and the cars/trucks that normally have cash on the hood are going for sticker.
  29. john85775

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

I never understood this thinking. Why not just put $100 in for a reservation even if you were on the fence? You’re not fully committed until you take delivery.

First Refreshed Model X Deliveries in July

+++++ Beautifully said. I‘ve left and come back to Tesla four times (2x MX, 1xM3P, now 1xMY; I have a terrible car problem). Going back to the gas station was a one year annoyance, so we temporarily solved it with a BMW i3. Then on a whim, test drove the MY and my wife was sold. We tow and...

First Refreshed Model X Deliveries in July

Tesla’s growth is not in the high end; those of us who bought previous S/X vehicles were useful idiots- Tesla never made any margin on the cars, they just created enough buzz and a proof point to accelerate the advancement to mainstream 3/Y/2 cars. Point is they won’t miss you. now the...

2021 vs 2020 looks and interior

the fact that there was (is) a huge secondary market to cover up that interior piano black trim speaks volumes. I had the same piano black on the dash of my 2010 Mazda Miata - it's tired. on the other hand, the door trim on the 2021 Model 3 is a bit Nissan Altima looking - not a fan. Bracing...

Best interest rate via Tesla financing?

US Bank at 72 months for 2.49 (vs. 2.09 on DCU) = not worth it to do DCU. Especially since we already bank with US Bank and we put a large down payment in the deal. .4% of 40k = $160/year or $13/month, on a loan that I’ll likely pay off within a couple of years. Not sure about “DCU” but my past...

    Current Delivery Times

Correct. They cannot report the sale unless a customer has taken delivery of the vehicle. There’s a post somewhere on this forum that did a decent job of untangling the sequencing logic, but my guess is supply chain disruption, new S/X retooling and new factories coming online has thrown Tesla...

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

Even the very best Tesla SA has about average level of knowledge that is disseminated on this forum (but only because they are reading these posts). Tesla simply keeps these people in the dark. The average SA woefully misinforms the public with outright lies about everything from FSD (“they’re...

This typically only happens when your configuration matches exactly with another new vehicle nearby that somehow did not end up in the hands of a prospective customer. Reasons include failing to qualify for financing, rejecting delivery, or simply changing one’s mind.

    Y Performace vs LR?

I think this is less about money and more about weighing the value vs. the tradeoffs. I weighed this decision really heavily. I came from a P3D- (stealth) and missed the boat on a MYP-. The issue for me is primarily ride quality, not so much money. I don't want to void my warranty with...
  42. john85775

    Y Performace vs LR?

Right. That added cost for another set of wheels is specific to MYP. Several options for 19 and 20" winter tires on the LR MY.
  43. john85775

    Y Performace vs LR?

I guess where you sit depends on where you stand. To me it's a ton more convenient to just take the tires to the tire shop and let them mount/balance. 🤔
  44. john85775

    Y Performace vs LR?

Aside: I've never understood why people buy winter wheels with their tires - why not just winter tires and pay the $100 for a shop to mount/balance twice per year?

    Model Y ride comfort?

we did the 20” wheels after reading compelling analysis on another thread essentially saying: a) not a huge proportional sidewall difference from 19 to 20 b) plenty of used gemini wheels on the secondary market, very few and generally expensive 20” factory take offs c) oem tire quality MUCH...
