    Model Y price outdated

My order is now $500 less than before the price changes and I now get AP free (I originally didn't spec it). Can't wait for my Performance Y in red, but I really need to know the towing numbers before I can commit. Come on Musk don't leave us hanging!

    BMW will crush Tesla

Anyone who has owned a BMW know these turds can barely make it through the warranty without needing thousands in repairs. Simply put I will never buy another BMW car because the a build quality is absolute garbage. BMW's fixation on using cheap plastic for critical subsystems is stupid. Pop the...

    Can the Model Y tow?

I might have to cancel my Model Y order if M3's towing capacity is any indication of Model Y's. I really hope Model Y can tow at least 3500lbs. $1250 for a tow bar seems a bit pricey.

Horribly Disappointed in Tesla Service (Alignment Issue)

Go to your local Firestone and have them do an alignment on their state of the art Hunter machine. Firestone offers "lifetime alignments" for around $200 which is much cheaper than Tesla. If you plan on keeping the car a longtime, I recommend you pay for the lifetime alignment, you pay a one...

Has anybody here done the Unplugged Alcantara upgrade?

A alcantara is so nice and rich looking. My Cayenne Turbo has it and I hope the Model Y has it as standard. I bet a local upholstery shop could do this upgrade for less. The headliner in my Cayenne Turbo was falling and I had a local shop recover it for less than a $1k.

The agony of deciding on a CPO

I would do the P85 it were me.

Captured a door dinger today on camera

Looks like she tried very hard not to hit it. Problem is the parking job was terrible and the fact that these SUVs continue to get larger and larger making them more difficult to get in and out of in tight spots. I don't understand the big truck mentality in America, but it sure is popular.

Irritated after 4 days of SR ownership.

It can't be any worse than what i'm dealing with now :). I only get about 15k miles out of a set of tires on my CTT.

Irritated after 4 days of SR ownership.

For most people it will, and for me, there's no question that I will be saving a tremendous amount of money.

Irritated after 4 days of SR ownership.

I think people are forgetting about the savings of never buying gas again. If you are looking at a Performance model more than likely you already drive a performance oriented vehicle that probably gets crappy gas mileage. My current daily driver is a Cayenne Turbo that probably gets at best...

Performance or LR Dual Motor for commute?

Get the Performance model! The car is stupid fast! The acceleration is addicting!

Sentry Mode catches door dinger and saves me $1000.

Wow! She didn't even get a f**K! Was the parking lot jammed or was she hunting for a nice car to screw up?

Thinking about a Model 3 Performance

My dad's M3 has been flawless so far and he has almost 7k miles on his already. If I were you I would pull the trigger now to make sure you get the tax credit. A performance model is stupid fast!

Who Agrees That The Model-Y Will Be a Hit!

I would think most of these build quality issues would be worked out with Model 3 since Model Y is sharing 75% of the parts with them. Any lessons they learned in M3 will be applied to MY, if not, god help them!

Drive unit coolant leak, tear down/test/repair (hopefully)

Nice work! So is your car working fine again?

The REAL reason I’m excited about the Model Y...it’s not the Model Y

I just can't wrap my head around the Model X styling. Looks like an egg on wheels. It's a cool car tech wise, but for me simplicity is better as I tend to keep my cars for the long haul -- less to go wrong.

    AP As Standard Equipment?

Your information is wrong. "A bipartisan coalition introduced a bill in Congress today that would extend the one-time federal tax credit for buyers of electric, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. The Driving America Forward Act, as it’s called, is sponsored by Senators Debbie...

    AP As Standard Equipment?

I think the prices will only rise from here until production so I wanted to get my price locked in. There is already bipartisan support for another federal EV tax credit of $7500, if it passes, I definitely want to be one of the first to get my car to ensure I get that credit.
  21. D

Who Agrees That The Model-Y Will Be a Hit!

I think the federal government will reintroduce a tax credit for EV buyers. If the $7500 tax credit gets implemented again, you will be able to buy a long range Model Y AWD for $45k.

BMW i8 same price as Model 3

Agreed! We bought our first Lexus about 4 years ago (GS350) and it has needed nothing but consumables (gas, oil, brakes, tires, etc). At my local Porsche dealer (drive a Cayenne) we had a service adviser move over from a Lexus dealer because he "wasn't making enough" (commission job)...

Owners with No AP - Thoughts/Plans/Speculation on What Happens Next

I have no intention to ever buy AP or FSD. As a car enthusiast I love driving. I understand a case can be made if I lived in Chicago or LA where traffic jams are the norm, but here in little ol Lansing Michigan, we rarely have traffic jams. With that being said, i'll pocket the money I save and...

BMW i8 same price as Model 3

Do you know what BMW stands for? Break My Wallet! God help the people who own an i8 out of warranty. I strongly recommend you do your due diligence on BMW's reliability before spending the cash. It won't take long before you are upside down if something big breaks out of warranty on that turd --...

Lease FSD depreciation costs seems high?

And I thought Porsche's lease numbers were bad. Those numbers are horrific! IMO with those numbers, it seems silly to lease when you could buy and have something to show for it. I like to keep my cars between 6 and 8 years. If you amortize the cost of the vehicle over this time period, buying...

What’s Your Favorite Color for the Tesla Model Y?

I wanted the blue but when I saw it in person it was no where near as bright as they show it in the pictures online. I was really disappointed by that, so opted for the red.

    Anyone Guess How Many Pre-orders

Congrats on the order. I have a red Performance Y on order as well. Those German cars really get you with their constant "maintenance". I will be getting rid of my Cayenne Turbo for the Model Y. As much as I love German cars, the quality just isn't there anymore. Simply put my Cayenne was a...

Tesla Model 3 Performance vs BMW M3 - The Mic Drop

Own one out of warranty and you will see why these cars are not made to last. Ours was perfect up until the warranty ended. It wasn't even 1 week after the warranty ended that the suspension needed rebuilding and the cooling system had bursted and left my wife stranded. After we got that fix, it...

    What to buy? $60,000

I would be very cautious about buying a used one from Tesla. I thought about buying a used Model S P90DL but every single one Tesla showed me looked beat and very tired. I have never seen such low mileage examples in such poor condition. After about the 6th Model S Tesla showed me I ran away and...

Tesla Model 3 Performance vs BMW M3 - The Mic Drop

They don't call them BreakMyWallet for nothing! Simply put our BMW ownership experience was the horrific. I have never owned a car that broke down so much in my life. My wife and I celebrated after trading that shxt box in. That was 10 years ago and we have yet to buy another BMW.

    AP As Standard Equipment?

I'm not concerned about resale value as I plan on keeping the car for the next 10 years and 120k miles and by then the car won't be worth much anyways. I'll think about adding it, but i'm already over budget on the spec as it is.

    AP As Standard Equipment?

"Recently, Tesla tweaked Autopilot into two packages: regular, which allows automatic steering on highways and traffic-aware cruise control, and Full Self-Driving. Full Self-Driving includes the “Navigate on Autopilot” feature that suggests and makes lane changes, as well as navigates highway...

More Model 3 changes and leasing now available

Cars are depreciating assets, it's the fact of life. It's been my experience that the longer you can keep the car (some exceptions), the cheaper it gets overtime. If your amortized the cost of a Tesla over a 10 year life span you will be much further ahead than leasing or buying one every 3...

    F/S 2015 P85D Model S Loaded

Wow! Tough crowd here. So far this is the lowest mileage P85D I have seen in the country for less than 1/2 off it's original MSRP. You're practically getting a new car with hardly any miles on it for a huge discount. The crap that Tesla is selling is pretty beat up from what I noticed and that's...

What BEVs are you cross-shopping against the Model Y?

I have my heart set on the Model Y. I like the 3.5 second 0-60 and 8 year factory warranty which gives huge peace of mind. I thought about the Audi Q4 E-tron but the 0-60 is pathetic (almost 7 seconds). No thanks.
  39. D

Am I the only person who thinks the Y is kinda fugly?

In my opinion the Model Y looks tough. I am starting to wonder if this board is filled with a bunch of short sellers. Where else can you get a Performance SUV that does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, has huge brake calipers, 280 miles of range, 8 year warranty, and the ability to tow for $61k? Simply put...

Tesla Says Model 3 & Model Y Will Both Be Equipped To Tow

I ordered a Model Y Performance in red yesterday and i'm patiently waiting for the towing numbers. We have jet skis and a 944 that I need to tow around. I really hope Tesla aims high for the towing capacity for Model Y, as I need it! A 4500-5000 lbs towing capacity would be good enough for me.
  41. D

Ordered A Red Model Y Performance

I pulled the trigger on a red Model Y Performance yesterday. I can't wait and will be getting rid of my Porsche Cayenne Turbo (reliability has been poor). My purchase depends on the towing capacity that the Model Y can pull. Does anyone know when Tesla plans to release details on this...

    CPO 2015 85kW vs 2016 75kW

I would get the newest and lowest mileage one that your budget allows. The dual motor cars are quite a bit quicker and I think resale is a little better too.

    Plastic Front Suspension?

I agree. My BMW experience was nothing short of a nightmare. Too much cheap plastic BS used on important sub systems that will get brittle and break with heat and age. Nothing screams quality like plastic. lol!

Another front suspension control arm failure

21k to replace the control arms?! The control arms are only $200 each. Sounds like there is a lot more damage than what is being told.

Tesla no longer sells CPO, they sell "used cars"

I just started my search for a Model S and I had no idea they were no longer "certified". I guess i'm confused by the lingo, because some of the cars are backed by a 2 year or a 4 year Tesla warranty. If Tesla is backing the car with a warranty, wouldn't that make it "certified"? Is this not a...

My incredibly detailed CPO buying experience

Wow! That's terrible! The used purchase process is much different than if you were buying new. My dad had nothing but good things to say about the delivery of his Model 3.
  48. D

Officially part of the Model S family! (and tips for those who are looking at CPO/USED models)

Very nice! I love the color! My dad just purchased a Model 3 and he brought it over for me (huge car guy) to check out and I was very impressed. I was so impressed that I now want one!
