    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

That's a fair list. When I handed over the key fobs to my 2018 100D I was literally bawling. My wife had to offer condolences. An hour later I'd totally forgotten that "old" model S. :) I miss Summon, but seeing how Park Assist is coming along (without ultrasonic sensors) I have every...

    MyQ unreliable, resort to Homelink?

Fascinating. I'm sure I'm using an old incandescent bulb in my opener. I'll try swapping it out and see if that solves it.
  3. BridgeMojo

    MyQ unreliable, resort to Homelink?

Well sure, I can do that, and I will, but ... At least in my 2018 Model S, it frequently wouldn't open the door unless I was in exactly the right spot. It would try, but the opener wouldn't pick up the signal. Usually if I backed up a little, I could repeat the open and it would work. If I...

    MyQ unreliable, resort to Homelink?

That's exactly the device I have, and yes it works quite well. It has a good internet connection, and it controls my Genie just fine. Works well through the app. Isn't reliable from the MyQ link in the model S.

    MyQ unreliable, resort to Homelink?

Before trading in my 2018 S 100D for a 2023 MSLR, I installed a MyQ hub on my garage ceiling. It works pretty well through the phone app. Why do that instead of Homelink? It works from a further distance (anywhere), and it gives positive door status "open" or "closed" instead of just the...

Sharing Map Destination to Tesla App Not Working

Mine are different, but sharing works. It must be more subtle than that.

Right! They didn't get mine either, and didn't ask. 😊 Thanks.

No issues with mine. Picked up Sept. 7.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I'm not sure if this is what worked for me or not: I picked up my car on Sept. 7 and waited a few days. Then I switched the Software download to "Advanced" to get releases quickly, and in a day I had the software update. (If I could find a way to trigger a map data update, I'd be really happy.)

    FSD Beta v11.x

Wow, after seeing your video, I've been trying this. I had a 600 mile road trip over the past two days. I can't replicate your finding at all. With my right hand in that position, I still get a nag. (HW4, brand new Model S long range, FSDb 11.4.4) Maybe your hand is special. :)
  11. BridgeMojo

    FSD Beta v11.x

I bet you got a map update. Now that I know there's a new one, I see mine being very out of date (2022).
  12. BridgeMojo

What does it take to trigger an interior camera nag?

Heh -- that was very cool. :) You mention only your right hand, but your left hand is strategically placed in the video as well. Did you find that the left hand doesn't really matter? I should be ashamed that I'm looking forward to trying it out. :) Mojo

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

Yes! I miss the trip card. At a glance I could see elapsed time for changing drivers, and today's miles, etc. Fun for daily progress on long road trips too. We know it's still there, it's just not as handy.
  14. BridgeMojo

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

Yeah, the instant energy display (as opposed to the Energy "app") was fun to watch, even if it wasn't totally useful. :)

Didn't have any noticeable color that I recall.

    I saw the phantom

Yeah! Without the background stars, of course, and only four "diffraction spikes", but that's what it looked like.
  18. BridgeMojo

    I saw the phantom

I was in my 2018 S 100D a few months ago, cruising from Paso Robles to I-5 on what's known as the "James Dean Memorial" highway. There was a long stretch of straight road, cutting through the central valley heading east, no traffic in sight, and the car started braking. I glanced at the...

    FSD getting things right

It changes a little from version to version. The thing to remember is that recognition networks are susceptible to optical illusions, probably even more so than a human.
  20. BridgeMojo

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

I think the manual must be out of date. It says you can click left or right to cycle between the different FSD modes, "mild" "average" "assertive". But it doesn't work. I find myself having to go to the control screen to change it, or to select "Minimal lane changes this drive" which is an...

    FSD getting things right

I'd be very surprised if they made the neural net maleable in the next decade or so. It would mean allowing the car to learn bad behaviors as well as good ones. It would make for an interesting experiment, to have a learning car. Maybe we'll see some company offer one, with the appropriate...

    FSD getting things right

I traded in a 2018 Model S 100D for a new Model S Long Range to take advantage of the FSD transfer deal (not to mention the price drop). It took a few days to get a software update, but I finally have 11.4.4 in the new car. It's fascinating to see the new car behaving exactly the way the old...

I did get my software update last night, and have 2023.32.4 now, FSDb 11.4.4. It's just the way I remember it from the 100D. :) I imagine this fork of the code won't get a lot of attention while they're trying to release V12. Question: I like changing the lane change setting between "Mild"...

What does it take to trigger an interior camera nag?

Brand new Model S Dual Motor, trading up from a 2018 Model S 100D. I haven’t had any autopilot nags based on the interior camera yet, and I’m really wondering what the boundaries are. I just got the FSD Beta software update 2023.32.4 (11.4.4) and will drive it tomorrow. I’m guessing the older...

It may look similar on the outside, but everything under the skin is very different, and very much improved. The difference between driving my 2018 100D and the new 2023 dual motor is striking. The interior is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and better laid out. To me it truly became a luxury car now...

    Differences Between Mid-2018 Model S and Mid-2023 Model S

Between ordering the new Model S, paying for it, and taking delivery, the price cuts happened. Took delivery yesterday on my "deep blue metallic" Model S dual-motor. I was bawling like a jilted lover when I turned over our 2018 obsidian model S (named Toothless). That car was a magic carpet for my wife and me, taking us to all four corners of the US on several road trips. But I'm over...

not a good idea to disconnect the 12v battery, but I can't be specific about why. Things to do: turn off data sharing, and make sure Sentry mode is disabled.

Help me decide if my 2020 Model S has a Range Problem

Try using the Trip Meter to get a feel for Wh per mile usage. The range is usually stated at an average (for my 2018 S) of 295 Wh/mile. If you're on a trip that's using more than the rated energy consumption, you'll get fewer miles. It's all about driving style, winds, and elevation changes.

Navigate On Autopilot: automatic lane change results

@Enginerd I've seen this regression since about December regarding HOV lanes: Before then, NoA was good about NOT changing into an HOV lane unless the option was enabled. Since then I've had several attempted lane changes into an HOV lane. One time I let it change into the lane, and it very...

    I-40 through Arkansas?

My wife and I drove to Memphis last March (from Los Angeles). We diverted our route south to Denton, TX, and up to Little Rock from there, instead of taking I-40 straight across. I have an associate who's made the LA-Memphis trip several times. He manages by doing an overnight at a Ft. Smith...

Putting some numbers on the factors that affect range

Congrats on the new Model S! Isn't it a blast? First point: YES, you can charge to 100%. I do that with mine often. When I do, I don't leave it there for days or weeks, but start off on my trip. That said, if I actually have a trip planned that might need 500 miles in a day, I've discovered...
