Yes, I remember that. I think ARK included it in their valuation models nonetheless. Elon was thinking RT would quantum-leap past driver ride-hailing, so why bother? And here we are.

Time for my six-month check-in. First, I was sitting in a patio bar sipping a margarita, and what should pull right up next to my M3 in the parking lot but a beautiful Rivian truck. Had a long conversation with the owner, who absolutely loved it. How is that company doing? I didn’t veer into...

It can’t be emphasized enough how Tesla must avoid this death trap. At this point there won’t be a “just transition” for these guys because there won’t be ANY transition.

With Buc-ee's charging time doesn’t matter. If you get in and out of those behemoths in less than a half hour, you’re not doing it right 😀

OK, I see none of you Brainiacs have come up with an explanation for the SP pop yesterday. Seems I must come out of one of my periodic retirements to explain it to you (apologies to newbies if this is a bit obscure). Colonoscopy. I can make photos available if proof is required.

In my mind, the whole “banning ICE by 203n" is an unneeded tactic that triggers the “they want to take my car away” crowd. If "our" analysis is correct, this will be an organic process that should leave no one *wanting* to purchase an ICE vehicle in that timeframe. Incentives, infrastructure...

Just to expand on speculation a bit: it will be interesting to see whether Austin, for “Model 2” will be A) Prototype assembly only, with main production shifted to Mexico ASAP B) Prototype plus production for US market, with exports mainly from GigaMexico C) Prototype plus production for US...

"Fairly significant"? Huge, I would say. Austin is going to be expanded for the "new platform". No GigaMexico, at least not until the assembly line can be cut-and-pasted. The expected worldwide demand for the cheap non-robo EV is off the hook (Port of Houston is going to be a busy place).

I took a look at that and where the numbers came from. The intent is to recover lost gasoline tax revenue. I get that. The methodology is lazy however, as $200 is just derived from state average gas milage and average annual miles driven. Unfortunately, there’s no good way I know of to ascertain...

A 3-margarita question. It just seems the US EV competition has vaporized. Ford is hemorrhaging money and GM can’t get anything out the door. Is there a point where the market actually realizes this? Is the hybrid hammer coming? What’s the endgame?
