Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Alrighty - happy to report back now with how things eventually worked out in this thread out for future reference: Long story short, I decided to buy a Y, so I took the aforementioned Model 3 in to a service center to have it checked out. Even though things were working fine - I knew I was...

new Tesla Model 3 18" Photon Wheels - load rating?

The lowest wheel load rating that Tesla uses on the Y is 750kg, which is why many folks feel that's a fair target rating for replacement wheels on the Y. Why? As per the above posts - the 700kg or 710kg wheel would probably be fine the most of the time. And I'd bet there's a wide margin of...

new Tesla Model 3 18" Photon Wheels - load rating?

Alrighty, ask and we shall receive! A Model 3 Highland Photon wheel finally popped up on eBay, so I sent the seller a message, and they were kind enough to send me a photo of the load rating. It's 710kg. (Cue sad trombone... whomp whomp. I suppose it's not the new Y wheel that we'd hoped...

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Curious about the Photons as well. I started a thread a few days ago about their load rating. I figure start there, and then work up to fitment. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/new-tesla-model-3-18-photon-wheels-load-rating.321471/

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Huh. Can you see the scrapes on the inside of the wheels? If there was any contact at all, I imagine that it would leave a very clear ring etched into the barrel of the wheel!

new Tesla Model 3 18" Photon Wheels - load rating?

Thanks. The wheels have a load rating stamped into the casting - so curiosity about that spec on the new wheels should suffice as a reason to wonder what it is. However, in this case there's a practical application as well: The minimum load rating for wheels on a Model Y is 750kg. Thus...

new Tesla Model 3 18" Photon Wheels - load rating?

Curious - has anyone seen what the load rating is on the new Model 3's 18" Photon wheels? (that is - the actual load rating stamped inside the forged wheel...) The first-gen Model 3's 18" Aero wheels had a 700kg load rating, while the refreshed 18" Aeros had a 750kg rating. Thus, curious...

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Yes. With any winter tire, concentrating the weight of the car onto a narrower contact patch will give more traction in snow and ice than a wider tire of the same variety. It'll also offer more range via less wind resistance. The tradeoff is handling on dry roads, where a narrower tire will...

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Update! So - I believe that I’ve finally found the fix, at least in my car: if anyone else suppers the same erratic seat control, try checking/tightening any plugs under the seat. One of mine seemed a bit loose, and indeed, after just pushing it further in, no more seat issues! This also...

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

For whatever it’s worth, the seat switch gremlins are back, despite the new switch. Argh - the only possible thing I can imagine is an issue with the seat wire harness, so maybe I’ll swap that at some point. (It doesn’t look like a super fun job though…) At lease the seat presets are still...

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Interesting - I still get the calibration failed message, even though everything seems to be working 100% fine now. I'll try moving the seat through it's entire range of motion and see if that helps with the calibration. Though as long as the seat controls work, I'll be happy.

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Update here... I tried the recalibration, and it seemed to work, but gave a "calibration failed, try again later" message at the end. But - the seat controls did not revert to normal thereafter. It was the same mixed up movement pattern. Alas - I decided to swap the seat control module. In...

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Interesting - thanks. I’m on a rad trip at present, but will try recalibrating when I get home. I had just purchased a new seat control switch to swap in (haven’t installed it yet) but even better if recalibrating fixes it!

Umm... My Model 3 driver power seat switches are drunk.

Hey crew - bizarro question here: My Model 3 seat seems to be drunk. When I use the power seat controls for the driver seat, very few of the functions work as intended, but instead, they're doing other things altogether. Here's the rough translation of what I tell the seat to do, and then...

    Supercharger - Utica, NY

Looks like these Utica superchargers are down - they show as greyed out via Tesla. Any insights from folks in the know? I’m hoping that perhaps they’re upgrading them, but that might be a bit wishful. Of the few Supercharger sites that I frequent, this set in Utica hasn’t been in great...

Homelink Garage Door Button Locations - Left vs Right

Thanks all for the ideas and consolation. After a couple hours in the car, I figures out two solutions: one really simple, and one silly and a bit more work. To follow up with a few of the ideas: The car does not assign the list alphabetically (or reverse alphabetically), and it normally...

Homelink Garage Door Button Locations - Left vs Right

Surely other friends must have wrestled with this... I've got two garage doors, which I've named "right door" and "left door" for the purposes of programming the Homelink in my Model 3. This was all well and good for years, as they names appeared vertically in the Homelink dropdown. Until...

2021 18” Aero Wheels w/ TPMS for sale; new take-off set in NY. (750kg rating = works for Model Y too!)

Thread bump - these are still available. In the other thread there was some discussion about the TPMS - the TPMS on these is the standard Tesla unit that is used across all Tesla models. Here's the link to them on Tesla's website: https://shop.tesla.com/product/tire-pressure-monitoring-system

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Just wanted to follow up on this to confirm that Model Y and Model 3 now share the same TMPS sensors. Here's the link to them sold by Tesla: Tire Pressure Monitoring System "Note: Compatible with Model S and Model X vehicles produced in 2021+, Model Y vehicles and Refresh Model 3 vehicles...

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Hmm… I’d read on here someplace that with the 2021 refresh, Tesla moved the Model 3 to using the same Bluetooth TPMS sensors as the Model Y. Maybe that’s incorrect? I’ll have to double check. I guess I can simply look up the part numbers from the sensors on my wheels…. I’ll do that tonight...

2021 18” Aero Wheels w/ TPMS for sale; new take-off set in NY. (750kg rating = works for Model Y too!)

Greetings! I picked these up for my future Y, but plans have changed. These are new take-offs from a 2021 Model 3. This is the newer style wheel with the 750kg load rating, making it PERFECT for the Model Y, to eek out some extra range and improve ride comfort. (See the master thread on 18”...

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

If any of my fellow efficiency/comfort champs on this thread are looking for a set of 750kg rated 18” Aero wheels for your Model Y, I’ve got a set. Brand new take-offs from a 2021 Model 3, complete with TPMS. I bought them with plans to use on a Y that I was hoping to buy this spring. Now...

Here’s a couple recent photos for your enjoyment! Stalls are all in, so it must be getting close.

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

Since this thread has become the de facto best place for info about moving to 18" wheels on the Model Y, I wanted to keep the conversation going, and chip in with some new info: The 2021 Model 3 has new 18" aero wheels! Sure - the biggest visual difference is the new aero wheel covers...

18" Aero wheels and Model Y load limits

This is awesome - thanks for posting! I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing: Aeros w/ 235/55-18 - it seems like a great way to improve the ride and efficiency, especially during the winters. Keep us posted!

    Supercharger - Roscoe, NY

Hmm... Just tuned in to the webcam this evening, and these sure look powered up. The overhead lights are now on - which is new, and the red TESLA lettering on each supercharger is illuminated, so at least some power is flowing to them. The location dot is still grey "coming soon" on the...

    Supercharger - Roscoe, NY

I drove by again yesterday, and there was a utility team with a bucket truck working up at the pole directly above the back end hardware. Also went by the Salamanca location as well - drove the whole of 86 just about! - so you're right, the whole 86 corridor will be very amply covered soon...

    Supercharger - Salamanca, NY

It looks like the forthcoming Supercharger installation in Salamanca, NY is well underway. There are 8 charging stalls, with signs posted, and it looks like the back end hardware is at least in place. This is a great location to fill a hole in the NY-Southern Tier area, on Route 86 (old route...

    Supercharger - Erwin, NY

Thanks for the intel. We stopped there a couple days ago and noted the same. Seems like the new building next to Dunkin Donuts is almost done, but it'll be quite some time before that other lot is paved and the other 5 superchargers are in play. It does seem odd to me that Tesla says there are...

    Supercharger - Erwin, NY

Can anyone confirm that all 10 stalls are now powered up and operational? It looks like the last report (Oct. 2018) indicated that only 5 were up and working, and that ICEing was still a huge issue. I'll be driving the full length of 86/17 in the coming days with the whole family in the car...

The screenshot of the bucket truck is promising - I suppose we'll have to see what the webcam brings tomorrow. It is hilarious that we can follow this one in real time via the diner's camera...
