The Boring Company has set to secure a new project, a tunnel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that connects the city’s downtown to the beach.
Mayor Dean Trantalis announced the plan Tuesday, allowing that other firms have 45 days to submit competing proposals.
The Boring Company-built transit system would be called “The Las Olas Loop” and cost riders $5-8 per person.
“This represents an innovative approach to addressing traffic congestion and transit needs in 21st century America,” the mayor tweeted. “Boring Co. is off to a successful start in Vegas with its system there and could help us overcome the frequent traffic on the main routes to the beach.”
The Boring Company recently completed a “Loop” that serves the convention center in Las Vegas.
