I decided to bite on the new LR Y RWD and save myself 3K plus vs an AWD. The only difference I could see was a 2 second acceleration and I "should" get a few more miles of range. The other is there is not any delivery date for the LR RWD and I could have gotten the AWD this week from stock.

Im pending for a LR RWD.

My only concern is not knowing what kind of battery it will be coming with and if they will honer the financing if it takes them too long to assign me a car.

Also I'd just like to upgrade to premium audio without having to get dual motor. Id pay of course.

While the price jump isn't huge for AWD or P.

The reduced range isn't something I want.

The irony to me is more range means more performance... So the RWD is a performance model to me by that metric. I will not be needing or using more acceleration but since I will tow I will need as much range as I can squeeze out of it.

Not going to happen. The AWD/P has dual amps with more speakers. The RWD wont have the right wiring harness or the speakers unlike the old M3s that could turn on the speakers that were installed but not used. The AWD gets foglights, a motor, package tray, premium sound system and probably a few other things.. I'm told can buy a "boost" for the AWD to shave something like a second off the 0 to 60 times.

There’s only one option that lets it qualify for tax credit, and that is the same Panasonic NCA that was in the 2024 Y SR RWD just without the software limit. Same pack as the Y LR and Y Performance.

I ordered this config on May 29th to take advantage of the financing. This will be my entry into the Tesla family. Delivery estimate says June 2024, but from what I've read, delivery estimates are unpredictable. Any data points on when someone ordered and when they take delivery of their MY LR RWD would be appreciated!

Update on my experience..a lot of the dealers are getting them in stock so I switched my order to one they had in stock to get it sooner, however as soon as I was going to do my inspection they told me I could not leave with it because of a “government hold” until est June 16th. Not sure why but this is delaying me.

We ordered a MY LR RWD, solid black with 20" wheels on May 13th. The initial delivery date was May 28th-June 11th. On May 28th, the estimated date changed to June 6th - June 20th - no VIN as of yet. This is our first Tesla order - so, it's a new experience for us.

I ended up changing my order. I canceled my RWD and got an AWD out of inventory. This is my first new tesla. I bought two others. One used from a traditional dealer back in 2021 and my son a used M3 from Tesla. The changing of delivery dates is common and that’s a key reason I canceled and went with inventory. I was able to sell my M3 to carmax for a good price a few days before they clamped down on buying teslas.

We were pretty deliberate about this purchase, did a little research about the buying process through Tesla and ordered what we want. We live in Phoenix, don't need the traction benefits of all-wheel drive, drive a ton and need long-range capacity. I insisted with my wife that I like how it looks if I'm going to pay for it - so got the paint and the wheels. We'll stick with our order - I'm glad we had some idea of what to expect. It's still a little nerve-racking but, whatever. We're looking forward to the car. It will be my wife's primary driver and I'll continue to kick out a dead whale every other block in my Golf R:)

Did you give up your .99% APR when choosing a car from inventory? Assuming you took the financing deal, that is. Was looking through inventory to have a sooner delivery date but if I confirmed it reset my financing options to the 6.4%

This is what I'm going through as well. I see inventory models for early pickup that I would choose from, but the .99% financing option does not appear to carry over. I have not been able to get in contact with anyone at Tesla to see if they can do this. From the handful of responses in this forum it doesn't look like it. At least no one has confirmed that it is doable.
