Vendor How our clients sold their P85 and received a maximum return in 2 weeks...and upgraded to a P100D

3 years ago we got a call from a potential client inquiring about some protective services on a P85 that was scheduled to arrive in the following month. What followed was a few weeks of communication ironing out what exact services were going to be the best fit for these new Tesla Model S P85 clients of ours.

Our focus and attention were on educating our client and this allowed them to make the best choice for themselves. We really did go through the full gauntlet of options and in the end, they settled on the following services:
· New car prep and paint correction to address any surface defects
· Paint protection film installed on every panel except for the hatch and roof pieces (the car had a pano-roof)
· Modesta BC-05 on the exterior paint and PPF
· Modesta BC-06 over the wheels

But, and this is important, they took advantage of our no-cost maintenance class. This is available to our clients who wish to better understand how to take care of their cars long term. We schedule a day sometime after the service is performed for the owners to come in and we hold a one-on-one clinic where we teach proper wash maintenance and care. This allows our clients to follow through and get the most out of their investment in protection and gloss. It qualifies owners to either take care of their cars themselves or they can properly vet others they may hire to handle their car wash needs.

To understand better why we follow this path, please take the time to understand what I call the paint coating triangle:

Would their investment in protection and ongoing proper care pay off? As they say, the proof's in the pudding and I am pleased to share their success story.

A few months ago these same clients reached out to me and said they had a P100D being delivered and they insisted on the exact same service as before. They were incredibly pleased with how well the paint protection film held up and loved the gloss and easier cleaning the Modesta provided them with on the body and wheels. They scheduled for us to perform a used car detail to prep the P85 for selling. This consisted of a wash, chemical decon and use of the Modesta maintenance sprays for the exterior and an interior detail to make it like-new. With children enjoying the backseat area, this was a necessary step in their getting a maximum return on their investment.

When the prep and detail were completed, we kept the car at our facility for a few weeks so it could remain like-new while it was for sale. We are not brokers and we are not car salesmen. But we recognize the value of the car staying as close to perfect as possible while it was being viewed. The car had 30,000+ miles on it and was listed for $87,000. The first appointment was scheduled for someone to view the car and it was sold to that individual a few days after they viewed it. Presumably....after due diligence on their part. When the buyer came to pick up the car I ask him what moved him to purchase it and he said that despite the higher price he appreciated that the car looked as close to perfect as it possibly could and looked beautiful. He noted that he could not find a flaw.

I wish I could take all the credit for this but this is a prime example of the owners doing a wonderful job caring for the car over 3 years and 30k+ miles. No service will ever replace ongoing and proper care. But when proper care is coupled with PPF and Modesta, the combination allows for a car that looks like-new, is worth more and is more likely to sell faster.

Here are some pictures of their P85 after 30k+ miles and 3 years of proper care right before it sold:

And really, what better time to show off their new P100D with the identical services performed on it?

The initial cost was right at $5k.

For ones that desire a car that stays looking beautiful, is easier to clean for years and gives peace of mind, the protection services stand on that value alone. The ROI is icing on the cake. As I tell all of our clients, get the services for you. The secondary benefit is a car that is easier to sell for more.

Ok, initial investment is $5K, what is the cost of the used car detail to prep the car for selling?

If someone views the protective and enhancement services the right way, they will see it as a value to themselves. It pays dividends for years on saved efforts, peace of mind, lower back pain, opportunity cost, a car that looks more beautiful due to rewarded efforts and in the end the value to the next owner is that icing on the cake.
