mainly because anyone can have the color they want by changing it theirselfs for less than 3k, even less if it's wrapped only.

I called my local wrapper and they quoted me $3500. Is that not the normal cost?

No Tesla has never offered a two-tone paint scheme.

I suspect the "grey lower panels" you say was an S built before the recent "refresh" when the rocker panels were unpainted dark grey plastic.

I didn't think they did and this must have been a custom job. It was a true two tone color scheme, not rocker panels. I tried to take a pic. but watching the road seemed more important at the time

Can be, depends on where you go. Anyways 2k or 3,5k is still not overpriced if you want a custom color.
