Today, my 2016 MS with about 85k miles started making a loud ticking noise when doors are opened. The noise continues for about 10 seconds and goes away. car is driving normally. Any ideas on cause? Thanks
I have the same exact thing a 2016 Model S with 77k miles and suddenly when any door is opened there is a very loud clicking sound that lasts about 10 seconds.
Any clue what this indicates? Should I ignore it? Has anyone figured out what this is?
The upper hinge on the affected door needs to be replaced. Unsure of the cost through Tesla but you can readily find color matched hinges on eBay for as low as $16 shipped. I've replaced them on 2 of 4 of my doors so far that have had this issue. Working perfectly afterward.
If anyone gets this repaired through Tesla, I am interested in what they charge for a painted hinge.
