Another Battery Range Concern

I have a new Model Y. Just picked it up on 2/8/2024. I have some concerns about range and since this is my first Tesla I figured I'd ask the community.

I had the car plugged into my wall charger overnight. I keep it charged to 80%. I unplugged it this morning. I drove 7 miles to my office and noticed I was already down to 77%.
Does that sound right to you all? 3% of my battery for 7 miles?

I did get on the highway. I drove around 70mph there. I probably sped up above 70 to get around slower traffic. I have the car in Chill mode so I don't accelerate fast.
I had the air on but it was cool this morning so I don't think it ran much.

Looking at the drive in the Tessie app I see the following info:
I drove 7 miles in 10 minutes.
Min speed 48mph
Max speed 79mph
Range Efficiency 78%
Energy Used 2.36kWh
Average Used 335Wh/mi

I have a planned trip from Dallas to Panama City Beach, FL next month so I want to make sure there isn't anything odd in my numbers before I leave for that.
I am assuming because my speed went up pretty high for a bit that it ate up more battery.

Thoughts?

Free Camera Upgrade

Hi ,
I recently had the free camera upgrade to my MS , before it had it done the side repeaters were chrome to match the rest of the car. When it came back they are black, personally I don’t like this as I rather have everything either black door handles etc or all chrome . I contacted the service centre who said that they come this way and they would see if there are any chrome covers and arrange a mobile visit . Can I confirm first that the chrome is in fact just a cover and don’t come as a complete unit , secondly has anyone else had their side repeaters fitted and then been chrome . Thanks in advance

Location Coordinates from Tesla NAV

I am trying to see within Tesla Model3 NAV screens my location coordinates at any time.. I have searched for them but am unable to see them. My web searches also do not give me a way of seeing them.
If in an emergency, someone asked where are you located? I could only reply what the NAV told me Somewhere Road Anytown.

I subscribe to Teslascope which tells me my location on any drive after the event, to 6 decimal places which reflects Tesla recorded information.
My question is why I cannot access the same information in an emergency situation in real time?

Anyone got information to help me with my potential dilemma?

Thanks

Tesla Denied Buyback After Suspension Fell Off Due to Service Center Negligence

Good Evening TMC Members,

I'm new to the forums, but am in need of some advice after dealing with a noise and vibration related suspension issue with my 2022 Model S Long Range.

Initially, I took my car in for service on February 12th, 2024 for noise and vibrations in my front end suspension. Specifically, I was noticing the noises while turning, or pulling on/off my steep driveway when the air suspension was automatically raising/lowering. They had the car in for service for only a day, and replaced the active dampers for the driver and passenger front.

Then, later in the week around 4:30 on Friday, February 16th, I am pulling into my neighborhood when I loose steering, followed by a bunch of errors on the driver's display for adaptive dampers and air suspension. I manage to barely pull my car off the street and onto my driveway. After I got out and looked, I saw the entire upper control arm had become disconnected from the rest of the suspension on the passenger's side. They forgot to install some bolts in the suspension after the repair. I'm in shock and called the same service center that did the suspension work earlier in the week. They had to call me back after looking at the service history. About an hour later, they called me and said a tow truck is en route, but I would be responsible for getting a ride to the service center to get a loaner. I got to the service center about 15 minutes before closing (I live about an hour away), and they put me in another Model S, while barely acknowledging the fact that this could have caused a serious accident. I got the car back the following day around mid day, and the passenger side active damper, air suspension module, and harness were all replaced.

After getting the car back on the 17th, the suspension made more creaking noises, and vibrated even more than when I initially took it on. So I scheduled a third service appointment at the same service center on February 22nd. The had the car for four days now, and they retorqued the front subframe assembly. The noises went away for a few days, but the vibrations still persisted. They did put me in another loaner Model S, but my Phone Key access was accidentally deleted the night before I was supposed to return the loaner, and Tesla Roadside and customer service were no help at restoring app access. No keycard was provided with any of the loaners I was given. I get the car back, and the issue is still present, but not nearly as much.

At this point, I'm still calm, but frustrated (as one would be) and I ask the service manager and general manager to put in a buyback request on the 26th of February when I picked up my S and the issue was still persisting. Today, March 6th, I get a followup from the service manager that Tesla has declined my buyback request based on the vehicle's service history. I asked for more details as to why, but didn't get anything more than that.

So, my question is, what recourse do I have at this point? I don't feel this car is safe to be on the road for my sake, or anyone on the road around me. I'm at the point of just selling it and cutting my losses, but I don't feel right selling this car to someone else. Any insights and advice is appreciated. Attached is a photo I took right when the suspension failed on the 16th.

Tesla quits Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries 7/3/24 effective June 2024

I can't help but wonder if this is a long-term bad move: Live: ASX to follow Wall St bounce as Fed says rates will fall this year, ACCC flags supermarket scrutiny as top priority

Apparently, Tesla is going to quit the FCAI due to the announcements and behaviours of the group.

One wonders whether this will reduce their ability to influence the group in the right direction.

"More to Follow" per the article.

Supercharger Extension Cable

Now that Tesla and aftermarket companies will be making a NACS DC supercharger extension cable, how many people will really buy one? The A2Z one is $300, so who knows how much the Tesla one will cost.

Per the Tesla website 'We are working on a NACS to NACS extension cable, which will be available for purchase in the future.'

I'm guessing most people will see the price and decide to parallel park or double park (both ok according to Tesla) instead of paying that much.

Residuals / Depreciation

My M3LR is 2 years old this month with 7k on the clock. It cost me £51k new and the WBAC trade in price today is £20k. My son’s Audi cost him £51k 6 years ago and has 35k on the clock and the WBAC trade in price today is £22k. And add to that the cost of insurance for EV’s.

Someone must have done the maths -, is buying and running an EV costing more than buying and running a petrol car; how much more?

Electric vehicles release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment than gas-powered cars: study

This just popped up on my phone. And several reddit posts too. I just got a model Y. Great so far. But hard to believe EVs are worse than ICE vehicles. Say it isn't so.

Things That Tesla Has Fixed

Sometimes we complain about things here that are eventually fixed. This is a thread for listing those things.

For example, we've complained that you can't turn off Auto Wipers when on FSD or Autopilot. Now you can.

I haven't heard as many complaints about phantom braking. Fixed? Better?

I vaguely remember major complaints about the icons in the interface, all fixed.

What else?

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

I was looking at Teslas just for fun see if there's anything affordable and was kind of shocked to see how low the prices of p100ds are now. This used p100d is only 31k, under 100k miles, 0 accidents, and 1 owner. The cheapest one I saw was $22,000 but it was over 100k miles. Is this mainly because of the interest rates driving down prices and Tesla lowering their prices for new cars? I rode in a p85d with ludicrous mode enabled and that was fast enough for me where it blew my mind so I can imagine the p100d being even crazier. I really only care about 0-60 time. The plaid is just out of my reach price range but correct me if I'm wrong but on the street without 1 foot of rollout included I believe they get almost the same 0-60 time? I saw these two videos testing both vehicles 0-60 on the street here is the one of the plaid and this guy this testing the p100d the best the plaid got was 2.47 and I believe the p100d got 2.5 seconds. I know top speed is faster because the plaid but I don't care about that. The only time I'll be going over 60 is on the highway and not much over it.
Besides that my only concern since these cars I'm looking at are mainly from 2017, will the battery degradation cause it to have a slower 0-60 speed or does that only happen if the battery is really degraded badly.
Also a little off topic but I bought a 1995 eclipse gsx 5 speed hoping to put 1000 hp which is surprising not that much maybe 30,000 at the most in mods and there's one called the red demon that does 0-60 in 1.5 seconds but has around 1800 hp. Yeah I could do that and have a faster modified gasoline car as we've seen modified cars like GT-Rs beat absolutely everything at the track having like 3000 hp but the model s is such a nicer looking car and better technology so I'll probably leave it stock and keep it since it's a collectors car now. The annoying thing about the eclipse is that it's a fast looking sports car and SO many people would try to race me or drive faster and more aggressive when they saw my car like they had something to prove which was extremely annoying when I'm just trying to drive my car like a normal person. Also more annoying is when someone's going slow on the highway, you go to pass them, now they all of a sudden want to speed up and not let you pass like a child. Then I'll try to go faster and get some distance because I figure they'll slow down again and they'll refuse to slow down until they're in front of me again.

First Time Tesla Owner - 2024 MYLR Ultra Red - Look Differences Between Pickup Day vs Ceramic Coating (With Pics)

Hi TMC! First time Tesla and new EV owner here!

I recently pulled the trigger and bought myself a new toy... the 2024 MYLR in the new gorgeous Ultra Red color. I've never been a car person myself; always just caring about getting from point A to point B - so when my buddy saw that I purchased this new vehicle he immediately educated me about the paint issues Tesla is known for and offered to ceramic coat the new ride for $450. The product he used was CQUK 3.0, I honestly did not know what to expect; but I'm happy I let him do so. The car is buttery smooth to the touch vs factory coating, it is such a night and day difference.

Retrieve logs in an accident

Hi. My wife was involved in an accident but her Tesla did not make contact with any vehicle.

The auto pilot applied the brakes due to a car in front changing into her lane and she then applied brakes.

No injuries thankfully, but a car two cars back hadn’t left sufficient braking space hit the one behind her so are blaming her.

Police are investigating and she needs to complete a questionnaire.

If she could include a Tesla computer log showing the reasons for it initially applying the brakes, that would be ideal.

Anyone know if that’s possible?

Cheers

Filing Formal Complaint: 057 Technology Battery Plans

As @ccalahan had mentioned in the other thread, I would also encourage current subscribers of the 057 Technology Battery Service Plan to contact the Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs. I have outlined the best way to do this and hopefully make it convenient for you. After about one week, ccalahan received a letter back from the DCA stating they would do what they could to mediate the dispute. Obviously, the more of us that file a valid complaint, the more pressure the DCA will likely put on 057.

PURPOSE:
At his point, I think we are all entitled to a refund, be it partial or full. I argue that since some of us did not receive a Battery Monitoring Device, we should be entitled to a full refund. The latest terms did update to say (June 2023; at the very bottom) that the plan can be activated after 8wks, but the terms have always stated, and continue to state, that the BMD is required to activate the program and that a BMD must be installed at all times (barring momentary removal) otherwise the service plan will be voided. Arguably, no BMD = no contractual activation. The BMD was integral to my choice to go with the program as Hughes promised it could catch issues before the car became stranded. In any case, all of us with an active plan have always been entitled to a refund. Hughes is gone and has stated that all of his employees are also gone - my faith in the new company to produce a quality refurb capable of lasting more than a year is zero. I want my money back.

HOW TO:
Here is the link to the Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs portal: TN DCA
This portal allows you to file a business complaint with the TN DCA for them to assist in making contact with 057 to mediate a solution to your problem.
The questionnaire takes about 30mins +/- depending how detailed you get. It will ask for the Respondent Name and Address - I used Keith Baker in Franklin TN (Williamson County) and 057's contact info of (855) 557-7057 and [email protected]. It will ask for the incident date (I used my purchase date); the transaction info (North Carolina; 11 Motor Vehicle Repairs & Warranties); a detailed statement of the facts (I mentioned it was a 2yr plan with a promised BMD that I never received, the company was sold and storefront shuttered, the new owner is not responding to inquiries, and a link to the forum thread); and what you want the company to do (I stated that I want the company to issue me a refund). There is an option on the incident page where you can click "yes" to add anyone with firsthand knowledge of the complaint - please feel free to DM me for my info. You can then add files: I suggest at least adding your invoice (I also added a much longer detailed statement of facts with partial screenshots of the terms) and maybe screenshots of your open portal tickets.

BACKSTORY:
For those still somehow unaware, Jason Hughes (wk057) stated that he sold 057 Technology in "early 2023" - the first week of June 2023 is when the North Carolina LLC ceased and the new Tennessee LLC was registered. Hughes continued to post on TMC (although extremely sporadic) with no mention of this fact until this info seemed to have accidentally leaked late 2023. The current company's primary owner appears to be Keith Baker of Franklin, TN. The 057 brick and mortar storefront has been shuttered and it seems none of the known plan subscribers have been able to reach the company via portal tickets, emails, or phone calls. The company appears to view this program as a nuisance and is hoping that we will quietly allow our subscriptions to expire. It seems that at least two TMC members claim they were unable to obtain help from the program with their failed batteries. I am unaware of anyone being able to get a refund.

Please feel free to DM me with questions. I have had a few members privately contact me on this matter after Hughes made indirect legal threats against the TMC community regarding the topic. Although I view these threats as invalid/meaningless/shameful, I can understand some members' hesitation to risk legal trouble and/or if they feel they might still have a valid service plan.
