Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Hrmmm, I might be in an odd state. I have several sites associated with my account at the same address due to purchases at different times. I had been working with support give me the ability to see the PV production system installed 4 years ago. Until recently, I only could see the aggregate...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Interesting, I unenrolled and then reenrolled, went into application pending about 2 weeks and today I see that I'm back in. My screen looks identical (the fleet home count) but I don't see an event today. It's possible, I'm "late" to this party. It's also possible that my system just...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I've seen (as others) this behavior. It was one of the nice improvements in V12, it isn't perfect but does pretty well.

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I submitted the form about a week ago to be removed from the virtual power plan program (forgot to note the exact date) and saw availability to sign up for virtual power plant today.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

As long as I'm still the driver in command I don't mind the "nags" which aren't really nags to me. Even as a "supervisor" I need be aware and alert. I consider having to be "engaged" with the system is an important safety benefit. Of course, I want "unsupervised" FSD at some point.

PowerWall 3 with optimizers or microinverters

Yes, this is sometimes true. But not nearly as often as most people think. Non-optimal roof planes these days may not be as bad as people think. You could also go down the rabbit hole of calculating the value of a given kWh delivered. For example, there is potentially an increased value of...

PowerWall 3 with optimizers or microinverters

As I understand it, Powerwall 3 Specifications (tesla.com), there 6 MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Tracking) inputs on PW3. So, it could easily handle 6 different roof planes for MPPT purposes. Bypass diodes would for the most part take care of shading of individual panels as long as the total...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I got to drive our Model Y again today. It seems to confirm my earlier impression, our Y, using the same software and settings, feels significantly more "assertive" that our Model 3. Assertive in this case means stopping and starting faster (more aggressive). Autospeed seems to get to higher...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I've seen this behavior several times. It's not perfect but compared to V11 basically infinitely better. I don't think V11 had this programmed. It appears to be emergent behavior from training. Another variant of this is not entering an intersection unless there is going to room to clear...

    Charging two Teslas

I got a chance to test this weekend. The screen shots show one car "charging on solar" and the other one "waiting". https://photos.app.goo.gl/78etaYiQt9qR5t6s6

    Charging two Teslas

Charge on solar doesn't actually care about the EVSE (charging station). It works with non-Tesla charging stations (i.e. I have Tesla cars but not Tesla charging stations). It is entirely coordinated between the cars and the PV system. So, it should work. I've never had both cars plugged...

    Charging two Teslas

You could probably use two mobile connectors if your panel supports them (they don't have to both full power) if you are using charge on solar.

    Charging two Teslas

Why do you think having two wall connectors does not work? First you said "simultaneously" which in my understanding means at the same time. Two wall connectors will do that. If you want to charge them sequentially, then something from features described below will likely do it. For example...

Did you own any other brand of EV before getting a Tesla?

I think the oldest OEM made EVs from the late 20th century that you could buy (versus lease only) might be the Ford Ranger EV. From the same era are the original Toyota RAV EVs. The first EV I owned was a 2002 RAV4-EV, we became a two EV family with a 2011 Nissan LEAF and then replaced the...

How To Setup Charge on Solar

For me, charge on solar generally takes precedence over charging the Powerwalls. I'm GUESSING that Tesla takes amount of solar, historical usage to try come up with an "optimal" strategy. I don't have any schedules. This week I had issues where our Y was having trouble "connecting" to the...
