    Cabin Overheat Protection - Necessary?

Sorry, but that makes no sense since there are no humans or other animal species in the car when I need COP to work. FYI- I have had damage to LCD screens on 3rd party devices as well as adhesives melting that Tesla uses in the seat construction drip onto the carpet floor when the Cabin...

    Cabin Overheat Protection - Necessary?

The only ones I have seen had a retractable cover to close it off. I even test drove a VW ID4 and that was one feature I wish Tesla had. I owned a Honda that had one. I always closed it under the sun roof when parked in the sun for a day. The temporary ones do help. In absence of a major...

    Cabin Overheat Protection - Necessary?

First of all, I know of no other car that has a glass roof for sunlight to turn the car into a solar heater generator. That combined with the predominately black surfaces even in the white seat trim, causes the temperatures in a Tesla to rise much higher than traditional cars. Some have added...

    Cabin Overheat Protection - Necessary?

I had no problems with my older Teslas activating COP. But this year I got a new 2024 Model S and the COP is really flakey. I know about the 12 hour time limit and the need to reset it. Also that it doesn't work when battery is less than 20%. My problem is how to activate it on Day 2 after...

A simple resolution for having multiple custom lightshows at any time

OK, I have a weird problem. I have Lightshow working on multiple drives with different show on each. I also have a small key tag attached to each so I know what show is on the drive. I tried to create a partition on my thumb drive for LIGHTSHOW/LightShow but while that worked I saw the the...

Model S dead, "Vehicle may not restart"

No way to know. I traded it in for a Tesla Model Y as soon as I had the money.

    Charging port not opening sometimes

Another update- Friday's scheduled repair was rescheduled again for September 5th due to Parts not arriving yet. I did get confirmation that this fix would be under warranty and the invoice reflects no charge.

I think I'm going to turn OFF cabin overheat protection

Not so! Tesla had problems with cabin overheating due to the solar effect of the glass roof and so much black in the interior. If you read what Tesla says in the manual, they state exactly the opposite. That you should never leave children and animals in the car even with cabin overheat...

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

Sorry, English is my second language. Bad English is my first. ;)

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

Good question. I have two Teslas. The Model S is driven maybe twice a week locally plus road trips on supercharging. The Y, my wife drives 5-6 times a week and a few days does 150-175 miles. She uses the wall charger with the timer set to give her 80% SOC at her departure time for the long...

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

Also the TeslaFi app can be setup to keep the car awake by simply polling. This might be more efficient than sentry mode which seems to really hit on that phantom drain number. I've never experimented with it but as I recall it didn't reset the timer on COP which is something I'm looking for.

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

Keeping the car plugged in has been recommended. Setting the charge current to low is the way the EVSE works when plugged into the 120v outlet with a 15 amp breaker. I could set it higher but that would frequently trip the circuit breaker. It works fine at maintaining my SOC during my off...

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

For when I travel I use an igloo cooler for drinks and sandwiches too. I added a 12v receptacle that is not switched with it's own fuse I use to keep it running. I believe it draws 5 amps or 60watts. Not bad at all. I've been to Arizona a number of road trips and I agree with you about...

Keep cabin overheat protection on permanently

When I reset Cabin Overheat Protection in the morning the car never goes above 105° which is spec according to Tesla. At 105 the fans come on and circulate the outside air to cool it down to 100° when the outside air temperature is the same. On cooler days the fans shut off about 96° when the...
