S RWD half shaft question rev difference

I just bought 1007719-00-A half shaft for my 2012 85 to fix a torn boot. It is the correct part for 2012, but it appears to be 1mm bigger in diameter than the 1007719-00-B version that was damaged(I only realized I had Rev B shaft after removing it). Am I missing something or is there...

    Cyber Squat?

I've read a bunch of things that were depicted in the initial reveal of the truck that have been since deleted, such as the built in bed ramps. Does that mean the ability to squat the rear is also gone?

Original 2012 S Owner considering trade in for 2023 model - questions

Considering it's time to upgrade to the latest model. I love my RWD 85S, but thinking it might be time to trader her in. I drove a friends for a short trip, and was no overly impressed. I mean, YES, I was impressed, but I expected a little more. Aside from the loss of stalks etc.. I haven't...

    2S3XY4U

Elon needs to round out Tesla's model line up the way any mega-genius with the maturity of a 6-year old would by introducing the following new models: Model 2 as a lower priced sibling to the 3 Model 4 as a step up from the 3 but just below the S Model U as a utility vehicle that is maybe a...

Hertz and educating renters on how to charge

I saw this clickbait article A brother and sister had to stop 6 times in 1 day to charge their rented Tesla in cold weather because the battery drained so quickly and thought to myself that's about normal for a ~1400 mile drive...

Puerto Rico 100% power loss due to hurricane

2017 - Tesla deployed microgrids and solar panels and batteries to Puerto Rico to help them recover from a hurricane. 2022 - Hurricane Fiona strikes and Puerto Rico is without power again. What's the recoverability of the Tesla installed gear from 2017?

"A" Pack upgraded to "D" pack - slow supercharging

Not sure where to post this exactly. My 2012 S 85kw "A" pack was replaced with a "D" pack. Yay me! (Thanks Tesla!!) When I supercharge I never get close to 90Kw let alone 150 or 250 Kw. Did Tesla forget to flip a virtual dip switch? Is my 2012 too old to support higher charging despite the...

Model S refresh concerns about what it will bring to CT interior

The new interior of the 2021 refresh MS has got me thinking. The stalks are gone completely and the steering wheel is not round. For a sedan, maybe those choices make fashion sense. For those of us who plan to use the CT as a work vehicle, I can foresee some issue with the deletion of stalks...

    MCU2 Line Level audio outs?

As far as I can tell, there is only one part# for MCU2 regardless if it is replacing MCU1 with or without UHFS. MCU1 drives(drove?) had an amp that drove the speakers directly for base audio, where MCU1 with UHFS was a different part number and drive the additional speakers with an external...

Simultaneous 12V battery fail and LTE fail?

I just got the mildly dreadful "replace 12v battery soon" message. This will be my 2nd 12V battery in 8 years, so I'm not complaining as 4 years per battery seems a decent life expectancy all things considered, and the cost to replace is not _that_ bad. The message is slightly different this...

    Silver paint yellowing

My Silver S is turned 7 last week. Last year, I bought a matching 3 - also silver. As a birthday present to my S, I gave it a good wash and wax. The cars are normally located in different locations, but I happened to have them in the same place and I parked it next to the 3 and I noticed that...

    Center console bubble prevention

I am a 2 time victim of the center console screen bubble problem on my 2012 S. First time was fixed under warranty, but alas, I am now out of warranty. Thankfully, the bubbles this time are not so intrusive, centered around the top by the Tesla logo. I searched and could not find much aside...

    48V model Y?

I read that Elon was hot and heavy about updating the old 12V standard to 48V in the Model 3 prior to it's release, but got shot down because of the delay something like that would cause. I haven't heard anything about it since, but was wondering if he still wants to do it, and if it might end...

New Safety Features pros and cons

I applaud Tesla for releasing new safety features and pushing them to the fleet for free. For the most part I appreciate the features - I'll highlight two of them here that has me on the fence. 1. Lane departure avoidance (and associated lane keep features) 2. Anti-roll feature The first one...

Local pickup (NY Long Island). I have a spare set of Nokian 102R XL tires with less than 20 miles on them. They are mounted to Original Model S rims with working Gen1 TPMS sensors. The wheels are in decent condition, but certainly not pristine (See photos) with no major rim rash save for one...

    Rust on battery pack

I've noticed a litle rust on my 2012 battery pack a few years ago and mentioned it to the SC. "It's normal", they said "not a concern". Today I heard a flapping noise and looked under the card to see the glued-on black plastic was dangling off the sides of the battery- apparently the glue is...

    "Classic" S (2012/13) suspension upgrades?

Apparently, all of the rear bushings on my 2012 S85 are shot. Tesla's estimate is expensive - I give them credit that they labor hours and rates are accurate, but the replacement parts are costly- mainly because like most companies, they want to replace the entire assembly instead at $300 a...

    Battery upgrade/swap - 60D->85D?

I have a RWD MS85 - paid off. I love it. But I'd prefer it to be AWD. I happen to be the market for a lower-range RWD MS as a second car. I was thinking I could by a 60D and swap battery with my RWD85, effectively giving me an AWD 85D and a RWD 60. So, some questions: Does Tesla need to...

Model S in Arosa (CH) ?

I'm posting to see how many Model S' are in and around the Arosa region. I saw two today (white S and Grey P85D), and thought it wonderful and odd at the same time to see Model S in Arosa! I thought to myself there must be a Tesla convention that I am missing out on!

Gen 2 door Handles and "puddle light"

I am a long-time hold out from the original S who's door handles ejected 100% and had no "give" or "flex" that emulates the feel of a traditional car. After a failure of one handle to present, I (reluctantly) agreed to have all 4 replaced with the new(er) gen 2 door handles that present to...

So, I missed the P85 by a few weeks, and in hindsight, was happy when I saw the P85+ with enhanced suspension. Now that the P85D is out, I want to know if it has the suspension enhancements that the the P85+ has, or will there be a P85D+ ??

Will Model D finally deliver REAL TPMS?

What is the range after a full charge supposed to be? (85Kw)

I'm curious if we are all getting a fill charge. I charge daily - non range mode - at about 20 Amps, and my range at the completion of charge is always 230 miles. At one point, I saw 240, but I think that was an anomaly. (fw 4.1 - currently at 4.2) What "Completed" charge range do others see?
