    About Insurance Rates

That’s a great price, all things considered. Where you live plays a massive part. In Seattle that price would be 2-3x.

Opt out of FSD Beta to start getting updates

Early access FSD-ers are the early group (myself among them) who requested access to the beta… early on in the program. I’m not sure exactly when Tesla separated the groups based on activation date, but e.g. if you requested access today you’d be in the 2024.14.x FSD group. Those people won’t...

Opt out of FSD Beta to start getting updates

Correct. There’s the regular FSD’ers and the Early Access FSD’ers. Those who are early access are still on 2024.3.25, waiting for FSD 12.4 on 2024.9.x build.

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

It varies car to car. I have FSD and it absolutely made it in. For some it’s unfortunate it made the issue worse.

    Minor accident using autopilot

Please do post pics. I know many are visual, and it would help with understanding what went on.
  9. WilliamG

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

I think the issue is that this doesn’t affect the 3 or Y, and it’s clearly something Tesla should have put more thought into. It’s ironic that their 2023.44 firmware fix for the issue didn’t eliminate the problem (though it is absolutely better than it was), but it did eat a few miles of range...

I did wonder the same. Pics, anyone?

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

I’d buy this logic. Both my 21” Arachnids and 19” Tempests vibrated around 80mph. Since switching to a set of forged 19” SV104 the 80mph vibration is 99% gone. Aaaaand I had the Tesla ones re-balanced by a tire shop and it didn’t help. Tesla gonna Tesla.

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

Yeah the amount of butthurt on the Lambo owner was hilarious. The Lambo won literally no part of the test. 🤣 Also Matt Watson needs to stop bagging on the brakes. It was funny since I reckon a stock-brakes Plaid would have won the brake test just fine, too, as the stock brakes are just fine on...

It’s still there in Chill. It affects every single 2022-2024+ S/X.

For those without “early access” FSD, yes.

Yep, it's very annoying. Hopefully the new FSD version 12.4 comes out soon, since it includes UWB.

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

This. I suspect this solves the issue though of course it’s not a fix. I do hope that Tesla can further improve the vibration mitigation because it’s definitely not perfect or even close to it. Some days I notice it more than others. Some days it’s not great at all and some days it’s very mild.

Why does the new 3P get the Spaceballs badge and the LR S does not

Yeah but for the 3P it’s 2.9. Not even in the same league…

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

I don’t doubt brake feel is better. Actual braking performance won’t be improved except for, as you stated, preventing fade with repeated stops. That’s important depending on how insanely one drives on the streets, but for most normal driving, even with triple digit pulls, is not important.

Is the glass distortion still a problem for ‘24 model

Recall will likely never happen, as it's certainly "within spec," - and, as you say, other manufacturers have the same or similar issue. I was in a Mercedes something last year in Italy, and from the back seat the distortion near the bottom of the windshield did my head in! If there are spot...

    Peeling yoke replacement

Right. That issue seems to be fixed on my mechanical horn yoke. At the very least, it hasn't happened a single time since the yoke replacement.
  25. WilliamG

Is the glass distortion still a problem for ‘24 model

Sorry to hear it. We’d have advised not to bother with the replacement. This issue is model wide, sadly, though it sounds like the replacement is beyond the norm. Ugh.
  26. WilliamG

    Peeling yoke replacement

Do you have a new yoke or just the older one?
  27. WilliamG

    Peeling yoke replacement

Yeah that’s odd. The one thing I did notice with my OG 2002 yoke is that sometimes when adjust volume it would go up and then back down. I’d only notice if it went from 5 to 4 etc when I let go. And since every volume notch is 1/3 of a full number I didn’t always notice it. I haven’t had that...

Model S LR Refresh 2022 rattling noise from dashboard

Haha. Mine still rattles to this day, but only if the screen is swiveled toward me. I put some felt tape in there but I guess I needed to do a better job.

That is awful and NOT normal. Get that replaced. Good grief, Tesla.

Model S LR vs Plaid for Second Model S

Plaid all the way. Once you experience it, nothing else compares. If anything about the car annoys you, just press the Button of Forgiveness with your right foot, and then you let out an audible exclamation. All truly is forgiven at this point.

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Plaid isn't pulling like a freight train at 190mph. Not even close to that. But sure, it's not hard to hit 190 with enough room.
  34. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

But then again... 😇 Yup, never happened on my 2021 Plaid either. Was immediately apparent on my 2022.

Well then... just hang on. It'll show up sooner or later. 😅
  36. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Yep. This. It's an on/off switch for when it turns off. Drives me a bit crazy that nobody knows what causes it, and I refuse to hazard a guess, as it'll be nonsense until we know for sure. The actual vibration doesn't bother me as it goes away quickly, but I would love to know why. The 35-50mph...

All new inventory S will be HW4. If it's a 2023, if it has no USS (ultrasonic sensors) on the bumpers etc, it's HW4, I believe.
  38. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

You just might not notice it, or it hasn't started yet. My 2021 Plaid took 1400 miles before it started the vibration. I doubt any new S Plaid is immune. My new 2022 Plaid vibrated right out of the Tesla lot.
  39. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

You're 100% missing the point, and I'm not sure if you're doing it to be difficult, or if you're simply misunderstanding. I'm perfectly parked because I PERSONALLY knew where to stop. If I had stopped, say, - a foot before the white line, - using Tesla Vision, I'd be more than 2 feet before the...

Exactly. And downvoted, too. Honestly, I can't even understand the thought process here...

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

I mean if a foot away is almost perfect, then yes, it's almost perfect.
  42. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

That's the thing. The rear camera does indeed give you enough information because... cameras! The front does not, because Tesla is stubborn and won't give our cars a much-needed bumper camera. That means USS is a lifesaver here, and Tesla Vision isn't accurate enough. Here's a couple of images...

    About Insurance Rates

Part of it is insurance companies actually losing money. Did you see how much State Farm lost in 2023? $6.3m. Sorry, did I say $6.3m? I meant $6.3bn. That's bananas.
  44. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

The problem with Tesla Vision is there’s no inches countdown displayed on the screen. I’m still undecided which I like better at the moment.

    New AutoPark with USS

Must have. I tested today with the new update on my USS Model S, and I could park in any space I wanted at Costco, without any cars needing to be on either side.

Yes they should do. Up to now all the prior yokes are (eventually) faulty it seems, depending on the conditions.
