    [UK] 2024.14.x

I received an email from TeslaFi a few hours ago that 2024.14.9 was detected on a Model 3 in France and then about 45 minutes ago got an email and push notification that it was downloading to our Model 3. And just got an email from TeslaFi that 2014.14.11 was detected as waiting for WiFi to...

Do they wash the cars that come off the ship in Southampton?

I hate to say it, but given the number of vehicles on a transport ship and the speed at which they unload, if there is a procedure for cleaning/wiping/de-griming, the likelihood they would single out a particular vehicle during the unloading and moving to the collection area is low. With both...

    Phantom braking

That seems to be somewhat unique to orders placed in the USA. I looked back and neither our M3P nor MYLR orders (from 2017 and 2022 respectively) have an arbitration clause. I say "somewhat" because our 2019 Cybertruck order does curiously have the arbitration clause. Please no jabs that we...

Yes, if Octo-Aid can access it then there must be other ways.

Do you have the Octo-Aid app? I'm fairly sure you can check in the app.

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

The Tesla implementation does seem pretty good, although with it staying light out late at present I've yet to have much experience with them. I recall some years back when matrix lights were a new thing I was driving down an otherwise empty unlit country lane with a car close behind. Somehow...

Tesla sales continue downwards trend in Europe

I'd like to think I'd opt for 1, 3, 2. Hopefully I will never need to find out!

New (to me) MX+ - Day 1 Puncture - Can it be repaired in the UK

Foam lined tyres are not specific to only Tesla. It may require an extra few minutes to cut out the foam in the puncture location but provided the puncture is otherwise repairable the existence of the foam lining does not render the tyre un-repairable. I suggest phoning around and am confident...

Tesla sales continue downwards trend in Europe

And we're back to the Trolley Problem/thought experiment. This message board likes to do full circles....

    Phantom braking

That is pretty definitive. Our GPS is generally pretty good but I can't say I've never seen it wander to a nearby roadway sometimes. Be interested to hear if whatever fix Tesla does improves yours.
  12. KennethS

    Phantom braking

That could very well be the cause. It doesn't make it any more acceptable but I suppose knowing what might trigger it could help in anticipating scenarios when it may happen. Skittishness around cars in adjoining lanes seems to be another one from my reading here. Tesla must work to make this...

    Phantom braking

Whilst not something we have yet experienced (we very rarely use any of the AP stuff), that sounds terrifying. Just so I know what to expect, is it true "emergency braking"? To me that is full on, triggering ABS type of braking. Or is it a rapid deceleration from say 70MPH to 50MPH? Neither...

    Model 3 Fog light issue

I’m probably misunderstanding but are you saying your car automatically turns on the fog lights when needed? On our cars the fog lights need to be turned on and off manually.

    [UK] 2024.14.x

We were on 2024.8.9 prior to the 14.8 update earlier today. I won’t be using the car until tomorrow but I certainly hope it upgraded properly.

    [UK] 2024.14.x

There may be another wave of updates. 2024.14.8 installing on our 2022 MYLR now as well.

    Yup, I’m fully aware.
  18. KennethS

    Extending a Used Vehicle Warranty

I'm hoping not to need it but it gives us peace of mind. We plan to keep our cars for the long term and having warranty coverage is worth it to us. (I understand there are exclusions to the coverage.)

Tesla app to set up service is IDIOTIC - change my mind

I have rarely needed any service. With that caveat I use my normal home address and in the comment field can't you request a particular location? I have only had mobile service so perhaps it's different. I doubt anyone will change your mind!

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Tessie certainly looks expensive for new subscribers. TeslaFi at US$50 per year per car now almost seems a good value. Teslamate has also been an excellent self-hosted option but I've found it quite fiddly and requires more management than my IT skills care to babysit. YMMV

    Insurance Question - Young Driver

I’ve yet to find an insurance company willing to even quote on either of our Tesla for our 22 year old (with his own 5 year no claim history on his car). This includes for short-term cover. Have you done this?

    [UK] 2024.14.x

I was of course being somewhat tongue in cheek and am a big believer that all data is good data. It just seemed a lot of passion over a small thing. Knowing when brake regeneration is reduced is important but when the battery is cold or regen reduced because the charge level is high the car...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

I must be missing something quite vital to operating our cars -- the regen line is something I always felt was a bit of a gimmick but clearly a lot of people find it critical information. Reminder to self: pay close attention to regen indication line...

    Bought a Model 3 from a 3rd Party Seller

Be nice, he stated he was speaking of the law in the US. As a retired dual-qualified lawyer (NY, NJ and England), while not my area of expertise, I don't believe the laws are materially different on this one. What did he say that was incorrect?

    [UK] 2024.14.x

Our 2019 M3 has benefitted from quite a large number of new things not present in 2019. If it won't get a mostly pointless additional display feature I don't feel aggrieved. In the latest update all the additions that to me are worthwhile appear to be there. I get your point and don't...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

Our 2019 M3P was on 2024.8.9 and got the 2024.15.6 update last night (car has FSD). Our 2022 MYLR is currently on 2024.8.9 and not yet offered the update (car has EAP).
  32. KennethS

[UK] Does FSD have any second-hand value?

I know I'm in the minority but on our USS-equipped cars we find EAP has value. Is it worth the full price Tesla charges? Irrelevant to me because it costs what it costs and we like some of the added features it comes with. So, if I were buying a previously owned Model 3 or Y with USS, I would...

Tesla Model Y - black Gemini wheel covers

Not overly helpful so my apologies. I bought a set of 5 (to have one spare) two years ago from Ali Express. The ones in my profile pic. The price was not much off the £250 you are seeing. The seller no longer seems to have them so I can't provide a link. Just saying if the ones you found on...
  34. KennethS

[UK] Does FSD have any second-hand value?

I understand your view and you are likely in the overwhelming majority, but we happily paid for EAP on our 2022 MYLR (we have FSD on the 2019 M3P but at that time EAP was not an option and pricing was lower). On cars with USS at least (the only ones I have personally experienced) we find some...

I never defended the action. Just think the prognostications of the end of the Supercharger network might be premature.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Only time will tell. But having wasted too much time following the progression in the US on YouTube, I certainly wish we had what they have there. And the rate of improvement since the release of V12 to me is quite encouraging.
  37. KennethS

    Supercharger team sacked?

I think you should go back and re-read the communication Tesla supposedly sent out as reported in Electrek. To my reading it was not a statement that all new sites were on permanent hold (ie canceled) but on a temporary pause. Not singling you out but once again the alarmists have gone all in...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

The reason why *could* be more nuanced than simply increased sales. Having more cars using it may be a means to that in a quicker timeframe.

    UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations

Sounds on the higher side but it all depends on the complexity of the installation (distance from consumer unit or main incoming supply, etc). As to the pen fault detection unit best to ask the installer.

The best thing about a Tesla is there are no servicing costs…

Indeed it was you. Sorry, I had a senior moment and was too lazy to look back at old posts to see who gave this very helpful recommendation. I have made a note of the updated recommendation -- he was/is truly excellent! It is probably long overdue that we have the brakes fully checked and...

The best thing about a Tesla is there are no servicing costs…

It might be worth seeking a local independent to do this. Quite some time ago someone on here recommended Blackboots in Chesham for alignment. We were curious about our M3P and had it checked. Very professional and knowledgeable and they confirmed alignment was good and refused to charge us...

    Supercharger team sacked?

I get that Elon is a polarising person, but my hate or otherwise for him doesn't cloud my enjoyment of our Tesla vehicles. The SC network was a differentiating factor during the infancy of EV adoption but once they began opening the network to other brands it was clear the general direction was...

    Supercharger team sacked?

I totally agree and welcome a future with multiple autonomous driving systems. I just couldn't find an abundance of credible sources reviewing systems that are better than the Tesla one. I'm not saying the Tesla one is particularly good.

Helvetia (& Tesla?) no longer offering extended warranties

I paid for ours on 23rd April (2024). (I obviously bought well before our original warranty expires but was happy with the cost and wanted to secure it in case it gets dropped again like they did with Helvetia.)

Can you point me to any information about these? I’m genuinely interested in reading more about all systems in the market.
