    UK FSD Discussion

I was repying to the above and subsequent conversation which I take to be a different, later bill than the one passed this week.

    UK FSD Discussion

To make washup a bill has to reach royal assent by the end of today. That's actually quite a high bar and bills nobody was really opposed to didn't make the cut. I'm not sure enough people care about self driving cars for it to even be considered.
  3. T

    UK FSD Discussion

During washup only bills with all party support are considered, because there isn't time for debate. All the others are ditched. A new government may restart the process (but is unlikely to for bills originally proposed by their opponents).

    Home Charger Installation Questions

It may be possible but I doubt it'd be worth it. You'd pay for a separate meter with separate standing charge etc. Having lived in a house with two meters once it sucked.. even though it was never used we had to pay two standing charges and I was refused an account by at least one supplier...

Tesla app to set up service is IDIOTIC - change my mind

I booked one once and the only listed site was Liverpool, some distance away. I assumed that was because there weren't any slots locally. There were plenty of slots, the app was just broken. Tesla support phoned me to transfer the appointment as they couldnt' work out why I'd booked so far away..

I've not had that happen since I put a cover over the camera. I think it gets confused by my glasses.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Not really those reroutes are often wrong and/or out of date. I simply don't trust them any more. I've been rerouted miles out of my way down country roads because of some percieved obstruction that turned out to be nothing. Would rather know what's ahead and make my own decisions.

I just wish they'd implement RDS TA properly so it could interrupt your existing listening, like every other car does.

    [UK] 2024.14.x

There was an option they added a while ago that was something like that.. I switched it off partly because it disabled the short blinks. Has it become enabled during the upgrade?

    Supercharger team sacked?

Part 2 of that article is he's re-hired a bunch of them, including the person that caused him to have the tantrum in the first place.

    Opencore legacy patcher.

    Supercharger team sacked?

Tesla is something of a special case as the major shareholders are Elon and people close to him. What he says, goes..

    UK FSD Discussion

There's nothing unique about indicating before changing lanes.. it's what you're supposed to do. Autonomous cars *should* be restricted to drive perfectly. Humans are crap at driving - the accident statistics show that. Learning off them is IMO the wrong way to go about it.
  14. T

    UK FSD Discussion

If an end to end neural net is that inflexible they'll have to completely retrain it for each country anyway.. one more rule isn't special.
  15. T

    UK FSD Discussion

There is no streering wheel turn rate. The rules simply say you have a maximum g force going round corners, and the limits are set at what comfortable for a human passenger. AP has always been incapble of this. Instead it just aborts and heads for the nearest hedge. Lots of other...
  16. T

    UK FSD Discussion

It's more about unattended lane changes.. the limits for the hands free are quite strict and it's not surprising tesla don't go for it. g force is a red herring.. it's perfectly sensible to slow down as you go around corners, just as any driver would. AP is incapable of it.
  17. T

    UK FSD Discussion

I think self driving lorries will be resisted quite heavily as it's putting an entire industry out of business. It'll be more a political than business decision. Same way they keep investing in coal and oil even though it can only ever be short term.. those workers vote.

    UK FSD Discussion

I wouldn't get too excited, these kinds of amendments pass through GRVA all the time. It's unlikely the first text will be voted through, so that means more data gathering/redrafting for subsequent meetings, plus once it gets through that stage it has to go to the full WP29 which can take...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Chapter 11 would imply there was some way to restructure and save the business. I think for fisker it's gone past that point.

The nissan leaf was prone to that.. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a feature of a certain type of regen/braking combination. Never seen anything similar with a Tesla going over the same bumps.

[UK] Does FSD have any second-hand value?

Not even tesla increase their trade in quotes for it. I wouldn't pay any more for it, it's not worth anything currently and may never be in the lifetime of the cars on the road today.
  22. T

    [UK] Spring Software Update

That was notateslaapp though and they're not always reliable.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Nobody in their right mind would buy FSD in its current state here. *maybe* it becomes better in the future. If it does, then it becomes worth it. Until then, promises and 'coming soon' don't mean squat.

    Speed limit and warming chime

Again. Not the EU. UNECE. Of which we are founder members. It's a warning, bit of feedback, nothing more scary than that.

    Supercharger team sacked?

Despite being sold as less polluting early on.. Governments taxed diesel so it was more expensive than petrol, introduced things like mandatory DPFs and generally made them not worth it.

    Pedestrian Warning System (PWS) Retrofit

Forward PWS is limited to a volume that is supposed to be about the level of a modern ICE engine, and even its frequency is regulated. Reverse is just that obnoxious screech..

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

When they first opened up a lot of drivers seemed to get the wrong idea and just tried charging anywhere.. sometimes not even trying to use the app!

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

"Soon batteries can only be installed outside." Ouch. If I ever pull the trigger on a battery that's going to have to happen before then otherwise it means no battery would be possible.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

There are better versions with ///, //,/ as a countdown that don't require any reading. The tesla doesn't understand those either. Giving advance notice of a speed limit change is useful especially when it's a large drop.

    UK FSD Discussion

I'm not sure they're going to improve EAP. It's basically abandoned in favour of FSD, and whilst that isn't happening we're stuck on an old branch of code which hasn't substantially changed since 2019.

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

I think that was because the US cars didn't have an internal motion sensor.. we know only too well that even something the size of a fly sets the alarm off.
  35. T

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

When I picked up my 3 I was shown around the car and explicitly advised to put P2D on. With the Y it was much less handover, but at least in part because they knew I was upgrading from an existing Tesla.
  36. T

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

The Y is a quarter of the thefts of the next above it, the ipace. P2D works.. now someone tell the insurance companies that & give us a discount for using it :p

    Hows your adaptive high beam?

It was illegal in the US and tesla don't develop features that aren't available in the home country.. so they just left them unactivated for years. You can still switch to dipped beam manually.. no matrix system will be able to cope with unlit houses. It does seem reasonably good at handling...
  38. T

    [UK] 2024.8.x

As read it says to me 'don't bother, you'll have 5 cars fighting for 2 spaces'. But it's more complex than that as other cars will finish, non-teslas can turn up, etc.

    Uk enhanced autopilot changed??

I'm remined of the way the leaf made you accept the privacy dialog every time you got in the car.. their argument was someone else might drive the car so their lawyers insisted. Some companies are very risk averse. Up till now Tesla have been something of the opposite, especially in the US...

    2024 Insurance Costs

I've no idea what I got.. I do know after 6 months they took the box back because I was such a boring driver :p DIscount was about £100 on the next cheapest when I got mine. Still with bell, as they're still cheapest, although it's basically a rebadged admiral once you're out of the black box...

[UK] Report that Tesla not going to produce low cost “Model 2”

It's just elon trying to up the share price after the disappointing quarter. The hardware for a self driving car is the easy bit.. I'm sure they'll have a concept car to show off. The software is hard, and they're nowhere near that.
  43. T

    So… Highland is out…

Insurance costs alone means tesla owners are likely to be older here.. plus it's not a cheap car by any stretch.. a big part of it is going to be company cars which trends older too. And yes if any manufacturer wants to sell in the UK market they need to cater for that market. Most of the cars...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Waze does that.. gets on my tits. I've more than once come off at the wrong junction because I wasn't paying enough attention to the screen and thought it was telling me to turn off.
  46. T

    Uk enhanced autopilot changed??

You can get capacitative gloves.. But mainly the reason they didn't go thay way is cost, I expect.
  47. T

    So… Highland is out…

I'd love the two to be a small hatchback, but Elon has probably never even seen a car that small, let alone thought of producing one.
  48. T

    Uk enhanced autopilot changed??

I'm not convinced it was someone sane. Disabling AP entirely is the worst possible thing to do for safety.
  49. T

    Uk enhanced autopilot changed??

If it never goes away then after a couple it's worth forcing the rest so you can get a reset.
