Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

Pre conditioning, or even just defrosting will use a significant amount of mains electricity. I guess as the main reason to properly pre condition is to maximise your range they sensibly not to use the battery. Unfortunately any HVAC operation seems to prioritise taking power from mains, even...

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

Sensible decision. One of my cars was quite fickle wrt tyres and when the item was no longer available one brand was singled out as being a good choice. Unfortunately they suddenly changed the country of manufacture and their characteristics changed so were no longer a good match. They were...

All pull to refresh seems to do is manually check the download available status that the other sources seem to poll, that is, it’s doing a similar check that the others are polling for. If your car has been selected for download since the last manual check, or last 24 hours whatever is longer...

The car doesn’t need to check for an update. You can see the update notification from a number of other sources, eg Tesla App, TeslaFi dashboard notification, TeslaFi email notification et. al. The later is unsolicited so you don’t even have to go looking for it. I don’t know how instant these...

Because the update being ready can occur at any time and can be seen via various other means and not just in the car. Checking in car does not necessarily trigger it being ready, it will show it being ready if it had been scheduled to your car earlier but you didn’t get the earlier...

It’s very disconcerting but the car does not continuously charge within the scheduled time slots so just because it says it’s going to start at a particular 1/2 hourly slot doesn’t mean that it will. Sometimes it only charges for a few minutes at some point within that slot. A nights charge...

If the rise in insurance is because of repair costs why isn’t third party cheap too?

Is that because the US didn’t have an NHS type to have already driven down the pricing?

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Ours varies anywhere between too quick and need to adjust limit/time after schedule created, to uncomfortable long and not sure it’s going to so go tweaking limit/time which often creates a schedule pretty quickly, but not always. Tesla integration. Seems better with new API.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Pulling up to a compact traffic light controlled roundabout was always a bit of a cluster ****. Or maybe it was a way of reminding you to turn TACC off. Oth Phantom traffic lights in fast lane of motorway was a reminder to turn off stop line control - never turned it back on. So I disabled the...

Do they wash the cars that come off the ship in Southampton?

When we picked up our Model 3 in 2019 at West Drayton there was a Model X collection in the corner getting the special treatment whilst all the Model 3 collections were told to find their car, pair the phone, sign the pad and off you go. At least we got some cookies and coffee whilst waiting to...

If the rise in insurance is because of repair costs why isn’t third party cheap too?

This has been going on for decades, and not just insurance, but grant based schemes etc. As an example, about 20 years ago, I had a medical procedure done privately. Originally it was going to be done as part of (iirc) Bupa package but in the end I paid myself. I got to see both Bupa and self...

Do they wash the cars that come off the ship in Southampton?

Tbh, you are unlikely to get any individual service, even if it is not having something done that all the other cars are having done. Tesla like to streamline everything, which means doing everything the same for everyone, unless you are one of the few who will ruthlessly promote the car on...

    Few Model S/Tesla Questions...

There is a table somewhere on Tesla website showing what features are available on what versions of hardware. I don’t think some of the potential MCU2 improvements listed above will work with AP1 cars. It’s a completely different camera setup, eg single camera for starters.

Does it sound like something flapping? If so, if you can’t see anything, it could be a bag or something that has got caught underneath possibly between aero covers that has started flapping. Its not uncommon to see something caught under cars.

    Phantom braking

TeslaCam is always on when driving. If an incident occurs you need to actively save the incident. There is plenty of time to regain composure and save (by pressing dash cam button or, if enabled, the horn) after an event - in fact saving too quickly after an event risks loosing the specific moment.

That’s park assist not auto park. Not the same thing. Someone may correct me, but I don’t think think the park assist occupancy network is currently being used for auto park outside of North America FSD. Your auto park functionality will have been using the same methods that it was before.

    Model 3 Fog light issue

Most cars with auto lights, not just Tesla, do not work properly in fog or road spray when in daytime conditions. As @KennethS says, you need to turn on lights in these conditions manually. For lights are never auto. A recent release turned on lights when it was raining which would have...

UK: Tesla after-sale experience reviews in UK. What’s your experience?

Yes. We have had more than our fair share of service visits - >10 visits across 3 different service centres and 2 mobile. In the near 5 years we have been using service, the experience has changed considerably. In early days, customer service was face to face, then covid when minimal face to face...

Seems like some are confusing v12 FSD and the stack developed for and now used by FSD v12. There is nothing regulatory preventing the stack developed for and used by FSD v12 to be deployed in other countries. That stack will benefit regular AP, EAP and FSD but it is not a panacea for making...

If there is a charge and Octopus don’t absorb it, then IO will likely only work with non Tesla vehicles and/or charge points that can be controlled. Model Y tow bar electrics not working

So sounds like the Lead Acid battery advice was not a thing in UK as even early Model Y’s were Li. But earlier post that I missed when answering showed it to be much more of a lottery. Hopefully an older module could be retro fitted? That will more likely get a positive response than waiting...

As far as I am aware, it has always been that it was effectively a 7 pin connection in a 13 pin shell. Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

They would have to ignore all the nags about daily charging limits and set the charge limit to 100%. I would think that anyone stupid enough to ignore all the warnings would also be stupid enough to be able to keep the charge limit at 100%. But there will be exceptions I guess. Now, leaving...
