On Cars.com, I see a Recurrent score that estimates battery health. It may not be super precise but would think it would give directional information on battery health. I think over time, this type of analysis would be expected on all EV used cars.

As a daily driver, feel is all that matters. Most people don't track their cars but they "feel" their drive every day. Not everyone cares for a Model S which may be faster by x seconds on a track but feels like a boat and to extract fast times, you brute force your way through every corner...

Kyle was just on the Motortrend podcast. Jonny Lieberman was very complimentary to Kyle's track driving and said he can really boogie so thats pretty good praise. Kyle used to own his own track when he was living on the east coast so probably has a ton of seat time pushing the limits.

The legacy M3P (especially early ones) were stiff but handled pretty decently. Twitchy as hell and a little unsettling over bumps but you could really brute force through corners 😁 I like extra stiffness in the suspension so I would like to try it out and see what the different settings...

I think it’s faster through the entire range. Just has a similar curve.

The motors are different. The 2018/19 models shared the same motor. They switched sometime in 2019 or 2020 to a different motor.

I wanna see if they make battery improvements for the new Junioer Y. Figure it would carry over to the Performance 3 if that happens.

Yeah. I’m planning to upgrade next year and am hoping battery improvements come by then. Also, will try to be opportunistic and jump on a low interest rate offer if they provide one.

Did the older model range get adjusted in the car? I have a 2019 M3P with Performance pack. I don't recall my range being adjusted downward to 299 miles.

But the older models never reflected the 299 miles right. It was always kept at the baseline 310 miles. Also...299 miles is far from realistic :D

In the prior Model S, Insane was just the fastest mode enabled but didn't heat the battery to optimal conditions. I think it just unlocks max horsepower while Sport mode neuters it a bit. I don't think it will pre-heat anything unless you've heard different. I would think they just add a drag...

I'm skeptical. The Model S LR runs 10.6-10.8s in the 1/4th and traps 130mph. I'd be ecstatic if its anywhere near those numbers.

Just to add, all Panasonic batteries out of the Nevada factory are NCA. The Nevada factory provides batteries for all Model Ys and the Performance Model 3 in the US.

Not surprised at the result. The old M3P isn't a slouch to 60 but that 30% increase beyond that would mitigate the biggest weakness of the current model. Can't wait until 1/4th times come out...here's hoping it gets below 11s :D

SoC doesn't impact 0-60 near as much as the quarter mile. All of these anecdotes driving the car are nice to read but really can't put weight on them until we get some instrumented tests. At this point, I'm just hoping they improved the 60-120mph a bit more given the battery limitations. Also...

There is about a 0.2s difference to 60 in the US spec M3P between 90% and 30% It’s been tested before by Bjorn. Look at the results at the 7:50 mark. After that, the power falls off more noticeably with lower SoC.

It’s probably battery output limited at the low SoCs. Maybe not much faster than current model below 50% SoC? Won’t make much of a performance difference to me if that’s the case.

I'm upgrading after a year. Let them get the bugs out first. Agree that the new car is very nice outside of the increased power. The improved suspension, insulation, build quality and ventilated seats are alone worth the upgrade for me. The power increase and static price are just icing on the cake.

Please. A simple search on Youtube yields multiple instances of it trapping around 129mph in the 10.8 range. It will runaway from the M3P because it simply has a more capable battery.

Model S isn't as nimble or fun for sure. I really like how relatively light the M3P feels. If I were to go Model S...I'd have to splurge for the Plaid as that at least has a unique parlor trick of going to warp speed. Also, the Model S doesn't have much more passenger space than a Model 3...

Go peruse the Model S subforums and their drag times. Its there for everyone to see. Model S LR is not a slow car and I doubt the new Model 3 Performance is as fast after 60mph. Helps to have a much better battery in the LR.
