Tesla sales continue downwards trend in Europe

These days there should be no reason to buy a car the traditional way. I bought my last two cars (both Audi A6s) through an online broker. Configured the car online and ordered, had a brief call from the dealership to confirm details, a couple of email exchanges and the car was delivered on a...

    So… Highland is out…

On the face of it that is a well reasoned post but of course it is pure speculation. There isn’t a person on this planet who can predict what Tesla sales will be like in the next couple of years. If I were to predict a decline in sales or at least stalled growth then my prediction would be...

    UK - FSD, Motorways, Regulation

I would certainly care. I’ve got better things to do with my time than sit in a car watching netflix. If I was behind a slow moving vehicle I would want to get past it at the first opportunity.

    New Highland UK - stalks

Words like “innovation” and “cutting edge” not only suggest the use of the latest technology, but also technology that works and improves the driver experience. We know that some of Tesla’s innovations are complete fails. The wipers on my M3 are by far the worst I’ve had in any car for the past...

    [UK] 2024.2

Oh no, another suggestion that the latest update has fixed the wipers. Happens after every minor update. It won’t have fixed anything. My wipers are usually fine in pouring rain. It’s with light drizzle, motorway surface spray and low sun on a dry windscreen that they are absolutely crap.

    Matrix headlights - finally???

I don’t think he’s trying to prove anything. He’s not disparaging the matrix lights, just pointing out that that video is decidedly underwhelming. Which it is 🤷‍♂️

Test drive of a petrol car

A friend of mine lives in Danby in North Yorkshire. He can’t charge at home and the nearest public charger is miles away. For him charging would be massively inconvenient and probably more expensive than filling up with petrol. An EV is just not an option for him, and it’s the same for literally...

Hertz in the US discontinueing Tesla's from Fleet

Yes, but the EVs they’re getting rid of are being replaced by ICE, not another EV. They are reducing their EV fleet. Hertz had originally committed to 25% of their fleet to be electric by the end of 2024. They have abandoned that target because petrol cars are far more profitable. There’s no...

    So… Highland is out…

It would be interesting to know what the cost saving is if that’s Tesla’s justification for doing it. Clearly it’s not £hundreds per car and I suspect it’s absolutely minimal.
  13. T

    So… Highland is out…

I’d love to have a HUD. You get the best of both worlds, keeping the simplicity of the cabin and having relevant information displayed, so to speak, on the road in front of you. But apparently Musk doesn’t like them so we can’t have them.

China’s BYD takes Tesla’s EV top spot

I tried that first time round. Audi were prepared to give me an 18% discount but not the 24% offered by the broker. I haven’t tried since and buying online is easier and more convenient anyway.
  15. T

China’s BYD takes Tesla’s EV top spot

Exactly this. Do people still buy from dealerships in this day and age? More fool them. I’ve bought my last three cars through a broker and it’s a wonderfully painless experience. And I achieved at least a 20% discount on each one. But discounts aren’t good because Tesla don’t offer them 😂

China’s BYD takes Tesla’s EV top spot

And who is paying for that greater revenue and profit? Mugs like you and me.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Buggy software is a lot easier to upgrade than crap hardware so if the hardware is good it’s got a solid foundation. Beta software shouldn’t be an issue for ex Tesla drivers as most Tesla software is in seemingly permanent beta. And Tesla software is itself hardly immune from bugs.

Should Tesla fully refund FSD owners in UK

I have no intention of paying for my “mistake”. It wasn’t a mistake that Tesla deliberately and dishonestly made a misleading claim about autosteer on city streets back in 2019. I will be following the excellent example of @edb49 and I am supremely confident of achieving the same result. Or of...

Should Tesla fully refund FSD owners in UK

Full disclosure, I voted yes because Tesla were downright dishonest in their description of FSD and should be held to account. I’ll be fighting for a refund. Are you saying everyone who buys FSD is a fool? In defence of those who did back in 2019, including me, not so many people in the Uk at...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

This is superb news and I congratulate @edb49 for his well deserved victory. The financial settlement is great but it’s the moral victory that is important. We all know Tesla have been over promising and under delivering on FSD for years, and now they have been well and truly caught with their...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

According to the UN 98% of leather is produced from animals that have been slaughtered for meat consumption. If the hides aren’t used for leather they are sent to landfill. In a real sense leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. The hides are already there so they might as well be used to...

And yet it’s still showing 2KW. If it was charging at 13A I’d expect it to show 3KW. 13A at 226V is 2938W.

    Tesla Alternative?

Double panel glass was supposed to make a huge difference to noise levels when it was introduced on the M3. In reality any improvement was absolutely negligible. I’ll believe there’s a significant improvement with Highland when I see it, or rather hear it.
  27. T

    So… Highland is out…

Absolutely nothing you’ve just said backs up your assertion that “it is still an EV that's lightyears ahead of anything else”. My Audi A6 V6 diesel certainly costs more to run than my M3P (apart from insurance), but when it comes to comfort, refinement and build quality it knocks the socks off...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

For me the point is that AP doesn’t drive like a human driver. It’s jerky and uncomfortable and feels as if a learner on their second lesson is behind the wheel. I’ll barely use it when I’m by myself in the car, and regular passengers ask me not to use it at all. Not a good advert for the...

Can Kwik Fit Change my damaged tyre?

Are jack pads/pucks really necessary? I’ve had several tyres changed at my local independent tyre place and they’ve never used anything. Just jacked the car up like they would any other. No damage done, and my first tyre change was over 3 years ago. No doubt the doom mongers will tell me my...

Sorry, that article convinced me of nothing. Good luck getting 8 billion people to Mars when our...

He may not be repressing minorities directly but I’m not convinced he has any genuine concern for their welfare. Charging using 32amp Commando and mobile charger

I have a a 22KW Andersen. My wife and two daughters all have Zoes which are capable of charging at 22KW. Only my incredibly advanced, cutting edge M3 is restricted to 11KW. But even that is a very useful 50% faster than the more usual 7KW charger. Without the 22KW capability of the Zoes I’d...

    UK FSD Discussion

There’s a lot of hype on this side of the Atlantic about how good FSD Beta is in the US. I’ve never used it so I can’t comment. 2023.12...

So what would you have done if you’d already been on the motorway with a 200 mile journey ahead of you? Pulled off specially just to clean a bit of glass? But then that’s never worked for me either. The wipers are just crap, and I can confirm they haven’t improved with the latest update.

[UK] Hands free (Level 2) driving has arrived

I also get the steering wheel nag far too frequently and it’s very irritating. Had Tesla been the first to implement this people would have been crowing about it here and describing it as a game changer. The fact that Ford has beat them to it will make a lot of people want to barf.

What is pragmatic about removing a feature before the replacement is ready? Sounds like complete lunacy to me. You really don’t get the argument.
