2 Quick Charging Qs for a Noob

Yes, it is best to keep your MY (or any Tesla) plugged into a level 2 charger while not in use. See this Tesla article. https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-7FE78D73-0A17-47C4-B21B-54F641FFAEF4.html Maintaining a charge level between 20% and 80% is good for battery health. Many...

Power trunk retrofit causing car awake

That was my experience as well. I had the retrofit installed for about 5 months before I saw any problems. Given how quickly these issues popped up for those who had the retrofit, I'm pretty sure it was a firmware update Tesla pushed out that started causing the problems.

Power trunk retrofit causing car awake

Many have posted that they've done the job themselves but you're the first to show here where the connector is and how to get to it. Thank you!

Model 3 powered trunk retrofit causing intermittent cabin climate control system failure

When this problem is resolved with a SW update, I hope Tesla makes it clear in the release notes so we'll all know when to bring our cars in to have the connector reconnected.

Model 3 powered trunk retrofit causing intermittent cabin climate control system failure

You've had the very same issue with the powered trunk retrofit causing intermittent faults with your HVAC system? It's odd that it just started happening even though I got the retrofit 3 months ago. Maybe the error was introduced with a recent software update. How long have you had your retrofit?

Power trunk retrofit causing car awake

I’m referencing a post I recently made about the powered trunk retrofit causing another issue - in my case an intermittent fault with the HVAC system. I’m wondering if the underlying cause of the OP’s problem with the car staying awake could be the same as my HVAC system fault. Model 3 powered...

Model 3 powered trunk retrofit causing intermittent cabin climate control system failure

Recently, our Model 3 HVAC stopped working (no airflow at all) and the display showed the error “Cabin climate control system requires service. Cabin heating/cooling limited or unavailable.” After a few minutes, it started working again so I ignored it. The next day the error occurred again but...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Below is Tesla’s description of how to receive payment for VPP credits. The statement “If you have any credits, you will see the amount” implies to me that if you don’t have any credits, you won’t see them or the "Request Payout" button. So maybe you don’t have any credits?

    CCS Adapter Support

That's odd. I got my MY in June 2020 and it has CCS adapter support. Check out this relevant thread on Reddit about CCS support in new Model Y's.

Model 3 Highland base model Demo Drive - Improvements and Setbacks compared to 2018 Model 3

I think many who cite additional space in the Model Y vs Model 3 are referring to the rear seats, frunk, and hatch area, not the front seats.

    Slow Tire Leak

We had a very slow leak (~1 psi every 3 days) with my wife’s Model 3 and took it to our local tire store to have it repaired. They could not locate the leak even after a lot of searching using all the techniques. So I took the car to another tire store and they finally found the source of the...

    Range Concerns

The use of air conditioning also reduces range, although at 80 deg it shouldn't be too much of a draw unless you have your cabin temp set very low. I'm surprised you're getting only 180 miles while driving in that temp at 65 mph and not accelerating much.
  20. spsheridan

    Range Concerns

Cold weather will reduce the maximum range you can get. The impact is due to degraded performance of a cold battery and use of the heater. Given your location in Michigan, I assume it was pretty cold during your drive. Another big factor that affects EV range is high speed. Cold weather and high...

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

Tire pressure will naturally increase as you drive the car due to heat caused by tire friction against the road. The pressure increase will be larger at higher speeds (e.g. highway vs city driving). A pressure difference of 1 psi between tires does not matter. I draw the line if I see a 2 psi...

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through - it sounds very disappointing and frustrating. Your experience underscores how Tesla doesn't necessarily make changes, sometimes significant ones, at model year changeovers since they don't really have model years in the traditional sense. You'd hope...

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

Using 90% of your battery to get 360 miles of range is pretty impressive. I'm curious what your average Wh/mile for those trips was.

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

Excellent summary. My experience with FSDb is very similar to yours. One thing that helps me a lot when I get a wheel nag is to scroll one of the scroll buttons on the steering wheel with just one click and that's enough to let the car know you're there. So much easier than trying to determine...

Left and Right Uberturbine Wheels Are Not Mirror Images of Each Other

Not sure why you’re associating acceleration resistance with aero. Aerodynamic effects are a function of speed, not acceleration. At the beginning of the run when the speed is low, aero effects are negligible. Then as you build speed, aero effects become more and more of a factor. I think...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

Tesla Model 3s built from their initial release until 2020 did not come with a powered trunk. Starting in 2021, Tesla included a powered trunk as stock in Model 3s. However, Tesla made a wire harness change from 2018 to 2019 and the powered trunk retrofit requires the newer (2019 and 2020) wire...

FSD turns into the short-deadline lane

FSD turns into the short-deadline lane

I’m trying to understand what you mean by "deadline lane". The paths you’ve highlighted in red and yellow look like they're on the median separating opposing traffic lanes. Are you saying your car is driving in the median with FSD enabled?

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I took photos before and after the powered trunk retrofit to see how much the maximum trunk opening was reduced due to the retrofit. I also measured the height of the interior of the trunk with it fully open at about 64.5” and to the trunk latch at about 63.5”. The height to the exterior of the...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I got my Model 3 back with the powered trunk retrofit installed. I dropped the car off at 11:00 am and they said it would be 2-3 hours which I didn't believe. I got the car back as soon as it was ready at 6:30 pm, so 7-1/2 hours total - not as long as I thought it might take given my car was the...

I just took my Model 3 in this morning for the retrofit at our nearest SC. It is also the first retrofit they are doing. When I asked how long it would take, he said 2-3 hours. I almost laughed but just replied, good luck. Hopefully, they don't make any major mistakes using my car as their...

Why did my Powerwall not satisfy all house demand

The two screenshots tell the story. The first shows you used 1.00 Wh of energy from the grid (which is very little) at about 7:47 while the second shows a peak power usage of about 1200 W during the same time. I suspect there was a brief transition where your system was switching in the battery...

Question about Model 3 Powered Trunk
