FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Love how you interpret my "Thankfully we were already in the right lane and so moved partly onto the shoulder before control was regained." into "FSD changed lanes and it was halfway onto the shoulder" The torque the driver provides was enough to pull the car partly onto the shoulder before...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In desperation, due to the promised better calculations of range, we downloaded 2024.3.25 in order to get FSD V12.3.6 while we were away. It appears to be worse than what we had before 12.3.3 for our use case but we really can't tell because we still can't use it for most of our twice monthly...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thanks for sharing the screen shots. Sorry your car was damaged. We had a deer run across us while using FSD V11.4.2 but my husband took over before the car could complain and the braking gave the deer enough time to get past us.

    AP/FSD related crashes

I'm pretty sure cdotyii was asking for guidance and assistance in how to upload and share a video. It is not useful guidance and assistance to remind them they are responsible for the actions of the car.

Should I update from my 2021.4.18 since I have FSD?

    1. you don't actually have FSD, you have an FSD compatible tesla. I bought my car in 2020 but the first real version of FSD I received was V10.12.2 (part of 2022.12.3.20) in June of 2022. What you have is basically Enhanced Autopilot (so lane change when you signal and Navigate on Autopilot) and...

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

Be prepared to takeover if it is in your lane, It often wants to pass in order to maintain speed.
  7. S

Autopilot is useless on non-highway roads.

Currently (with V12.3.x) the two pieces of software don't actually do the same functions. FSDS takes away TACC (to get it you have to un-enable FSD or change your user profile to one with FSD NOT-enabled.) To get TACC, you have to give up FSDS, which offers better lane keeping and NoA off...

    Manually avoid potholes

This is why I don't use FSDb/S or Autosteer for the majority of my driving on city streets even once the snow and ice is gone. Our neighbourhood is full of potholes and one never can be sure which one will be a wheel damaging one. I need the ability to shift from one side or other in the lane...

Precondition battery for supercharging before leaving hotel

Entering full round trip is a good idea. You are more conservative than we are (didn't think that was possible). I don't know what our lifetime average is off-hand but our most recent drives were terrible. Winter tires are off but we have new summer tires. Our last long drive was almost 3...

Precondition battery for supercharging before leaving hotel

Howdy neighbour! And thanks for the great tip. I didn't realize that the car wouldn't precondition on the way the SC if the final destination was close by. When we go to Peterborough we now charge along the way, stay overnight with our friends (plugged in with 110v) and then hit one of the two...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

FTFY Steering and TACC control are assistance that I use a lot although I can't always with 2024.3.10 on my current monthly 3 hour drive because the car keeps reading the highway # as the speed limit. Use of it requires changing my settings, though. The ability to have it also slow down as...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

We have to pick a metric but I'm not sure tesla's definition of a severe collision is it. (Although I'll give them credit for including being rear-ended since the majority of those are likely the fault of the other driver.) I've seen posts with pics of some pretty impressive damage but airbags...

FSD take rate after free trial 2%

I think it is worth trying out on several different drives if you have the time and energy over the next few weeks. You read forums so you obviously keep informed about your car's capabilities. This is a chance for you to experience the current offering so that you can form your own impressions...

    Auto Wipers

I'll second this replay to timmE. Was hit with a deluge this afternoon after reading the tip (which I'd seen before) this morning. This time it was fresh in my mind and I was able to start the muscle memory training to make this workaround instinctive until tesla changes the UI once more.
  16. S

This is MY idea, you can't have it!

We are far more likely to get TeslaFi to respond to this request than tesla. But it is important to note, this is tesla's responsibility and something that should be actioned before adding something not useful (like more games or fart sounds or easter eggs that take over your car and are not...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

I don't have wifi at my parking spot so any voice messages go into the ether. Enough others have the same issues: too slow, too fast, brakes instead of using regen, jackrabbit starts, doesn't avoid potholes, and plenty are now experiencing FSD interpreting and reacting to highway # signs are if...

So well worth updating and simply not using the trial!

    Rear Seat Pin

You can put one seat down behind the front passenger, or 2 seats down behind the driver. All my recent cars have had the 2:1 split, they just alternate which seats were the double and which was the single. What is special in the MY is that you can put just the centre section down. This is a...

    Rattle, Rattle goes the headliner

We get a rattle after running the car through the car wash in winter. It goes away after a day (the car is parked in a heated underground parking lot). That's new this winter (now over 40K miles.) We have a sunshade installed so thought it was that but removing the shade didn't remove the...

MYLR - Do the wells in the trunk and frunk get hot on long drives?

I'll add on that this is where I keep the 'car' supplies. Shop towels and window cleaner to clean the windshield while supercharging, portable air compressor and emergency light, in winter our shovel and brush (this is really important because open any cabin access including trunk and you'll get...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

I'm so happy to see all you who were 'left behind' testing out V12.3.6! You get the latest and greatest. Not that it will meet all your expectations but you at least will discover what the rest of us have been discussing (and arguing about!) I'm enjoying reading your reactions and seeing how...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I hesitate to assume the TeslaFi subscribers mirror the makeup of the general tesla ownership. I could be wrong but my gut tells me that people willing to pay for the data their car generates are also those willing to pay for FSD and who are curious about knowing all about the tech their car...

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

No I don't. I've done my time, taught 3 teens to drive and no longer have to drive with any learning driver. When FSD feels as safe (or safer) than driving on my own, I'll use it. Until then, I won't. BTW: if driving without the obviously flawed FSD is so stressful for you, perhaps you...

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

Buying a tesla was a no-brainer since I waited less than 3 weeks for mine (vs 18+ months for the original car on my list), plus the charging network, plus that fact that my husband always wanted a tesla, plus the fact that (I thought) it would fit all my criteria for a vehicle. It was Sept 2020...

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

The only reason this may be OP's biggest problem during tesla ownership, is that OP hasn't been paying attention and doesn't understand a lot about their tesla (i.e. the V11.1 they say they have is the UI version, not the FSD version as 2024.8.x has FSD V11.4.9.) What they do understand is...

MY20 Model 3 US built how to install 2024.14.3

Think again. You'll get it when you get it. Not before. I've never been offered anything to download until long after others in the local FB group have been offered it. Then again, I don't give a sh&t about the car being up to date, and I don't use FSD for city street driving and I'm not a...

Where are the new fsd versions?

You actually can't. Although I can assure you, you won't get the 2024.8.x ones because, even though your car is apparently 'behind' in update numbers it is ahead in FSD numbers. Basically there are four numbers you are following: Update number (firmware number), starts with the year, then the...

FSD 12.3 today - utter failure!

We are currently using the car more and FSDV12.3.3 more because we are away from home. With ASSO off, most of the time FSD is fine (settings are average and 0% offset). This is Canada and if we are going the speed limit people don't try and run us off the road, they just pass us. As well...

Where are the new fsd versions?

EV Rider answered your question fully but I wanted to chime in with this adjacent comment. Don't update immediately assuming an update includes the new features discussed on forums or tweeted out by lord elon. Or assume any update is stable. Or won't break something on your car. Check out...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I understand why there are signs saying not to back in to 'forward angled' parking spots. The only way to do so semi-elegantly would be if you were coming in the opposite lane, went slightly past the sign and backed in across a lane of traffic. Or wiggle and wiggle. Either way, one ends up...

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

Search the forums, Sosilver is not the only person reporting this. You seem to have difficulty with the expression YMMV. Worse, you seem to be dismissive of the different experiences other tesla owners have with the same firmware you have. Different behaviour by the systems should not be...

    Following Distance Change for FSD.

The USS is only used at low speeds, like when parking. Before my radar was disabled by tesla, I would get the red squiggly lines while driving on roads in winter indicating how close I was to the snow banks. Those are gone now, along with my radar.

FSD Performance Degraded due to poor weather

For TACC is still works, it just threatens to turn off. For fine rain (and I get that message in that condition) any cruise should be fine but one needs to be aware that all cruise control can be dangerous in heavy rain where hydroplaning is a possibility. This hasn't been an issue for me yet...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Watching Chuck's video had the good thing about the car moving into a better position to park. That would be an improvement for my car's autopark feature when I finally find an update I'm willing to do (V12.3.4 is on offer to me but I'm not bothering for now.) I have V12.3.3 (HW3, USS) and for...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My take on the slowed down video (watched on the posting site, not embedded) is that the regen was full before she hit the brake. It went from 49 to 40 before FSD disengaged (the point when she started braking.) In the comments she says the car slowed but she still hit the brakes...

free trial of FSD; questions galore

Yes at some undetermined point in the future. Those of us for whom this is not our first rodeo would say, "in two weeks of elon time." You will see the orange download available arrow in the top right corner of your screen (at least on a MY) and in your app it will say "Update Available."...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Uncharacteristically I'll offer a positive take on this: It keeps the supervising driver engaged in supervising. If there is nothing for the driver to do 99% of the time, it is very possible they will mentally 'check-out' and miss something really dangerous.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

You were the one who responded that lane splitting was legal in SoCal (but at low speeds.) I was just pointing out that the incident reported was at 80mph.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thanks for the informative answer. Before we updated to V12 we were on V11.4.3 and my husband was still leaving recordings, I pointed out it was useless to do so since we were on such an old version of FSDb and we didn't upload our info anyway. It will be sad for my husband to come to terms...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Question about leaving feedback when disengaging or reporting: (I'm not sure if those are the same thing.) I only connect to wifi about 5 times a year when I download updates (no wifi at home which makes avoiding updates easy.) Do my reported incidents just go nowhere? I have no way of...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In SoCal 80 might be considered 'traffic crawling' but I certainly don't. As for legality, apparently Oregon motorcyclists have attempted a few times to get lane-splitting at low speed legalized and failed. (most recently according to a quick search was May 2023.) You probably don't...
  45. S

Why does FSD keep changing lanes all the time?

I thought you couldn't set the speed in FSDS. It chooses the speed based either on the limit (if you turn Auto Speed off) or on its interpretation of what is safe for the current traffic conditions.
  46. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I thought all long vehicles pulled wide when making a 90 degree turn (either right or left.) The signal was high on the trailer but the truck's signal is visible through the wire mesh of the trailer and is where a truck signal always is (not modified.) On top of that, the truck signaled the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Re: lack of rear-ending accidents reported here or in the general media. I was one of those who predicted the media would catch wind of a lot of fender benders (at least) caused by FSDS and it being used by people unused to supervising unreliable software. I've been pleasantly surprised that...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Great discussion on motion sickness. I never had it in cars but on a cruise ship, I learned my headache and drowsiness was actually mild motion sickness. Making left/right turns during FSD on city streets

My husband is amused by the suggestions when he pulls up navigation (I am not sure if he has Auto Nav set.) If it is near dinner and he's at my daughter's, it suggests the Chinese Food place he often goes to on the way back from visiting her on a weekend. When he gets in the car early in the...

Making left/right turns during FSD on city streets

This is expected behaviour for this version of FSDS. Others have tested it with the same results. Apparently you have to set a destination and let the car choose the route and any changes (beyond the options when you first set the destination). You can't just go out for a 'drive' with the car.
