    Austin or Freemont

Tesla had been cutting cost left and right. It would make no financial sense to build 2 different versions the same MY from 2 different factories. That's a logistic nightmare to keep track of all the different parts The front and rear megacasts were used on MY AWD as test production run on that...

    Steering mode

It would make sense that more steering assist uses more electricity. That has minimal impact in the grand scheme of things. If you truly worry about range, slow down on the highways. It’s too easy to go fast in these cars.

Is it ok to change to “P” before the car is completely not moving?

There is no mechanical connection between shifter and gear/motor like old cars so the programing won't let you harm the car. That being said, I don't think it's a good habit not to stop completely before selecting P or R or D.

What mobile charger should I buy?

I have the Tesla mobile charger because it came with 2021 MYLR. I think it's a bargain at $250. It's versatile with various adaptors.

    Tire Rotation Pattern?

Been doing this patterns below without any issues. This is the preferred pattern for RWD or rear bias AWD as long as you have non-directional tires. Pirelli Scorpion MS looks like non directional base on the pic and tread pattern.

Telsa Wall Connector (Gen3) commissioning problem

I just did it recently too. It's definitely not as simple as it could be. Putting my phone on Air Plane mode (Data off) helped. May have to manually connect to the Wall Connector's WIFI first, once to page asking for your WIFI''s password, switch back to your WIFI.

Gave up on Autopilot, is Cruise Control next?

It happened to me a handful of times. I just ignored it for what felt like eternity, but it seemed to re-calibrated itself after that.

Austin Built 24 MYP Quicksilver Delivery on 5/11/24

I know right. They have been cutting cost left and right for everything else. It doesn't make business sense to build "low" volume vehicles at 2 different locations. I know they only build MYLR 7 seater at Fremont because it's a low volume production vehicle.

Keeps Staying the Highway Passing Lane

I see this sign to Vegas on I15 in CA. It’s not enforced but it’s correct to stay right and yield to faster traffic. I see plenty of drivers driving on left lane completely ignoring approaching faster vehicles. If someone is approaching you from behind, it means you’re slower regardless of your...

Keeps Staying the Highway Passing Lane

Yeah. I don't like this either. It doesn't like to stay on right lane even when there is NO traffic!! I leave mine on Chill (FSD) mode. It still does it sometimes but not as much.
  13. bluenycom

    Chill Mode usage

You do whatever you like. I leave mine on Sport for M3P but I drive like a grandpa most of the time because I normally have passenger. I can still drive gently regardless of the Sport setting. It's all about control.

    Sentry mode power requirement

Normal security camera usually has motion sensor (less power usage) and turn on to save clips when there is motion. No need for much computer processing power. These Tesla cameras were designed for FSD/Autopilot, not security. There is NO motion sensors on Tesla cameras. The only way to...

    Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 Tires

I have different experience on my MYLR with 20k+ miles so far. Look like I can do another 20k+. They ride softer with good wet traction. They are less efficient as OEM Continental.

    long term parking

There are 9 cameras but I doubt that all 9 are used for sentry mode. I would think they reduce to the minimal number needed to save power.
  17. bluenycom

    long term parking

It's good that they are working on it. It's not true that sentry mode only activated when there is an event, at least not now. There is no "motion" sensors like regular home security cameras. There are only cameras as they were originally designed for FSD, not security. Remember that sentry...

    long term parking

If the computer is on continuously, it means the car is NOT asleep. The computer is brain of the car.
  19. bluenycom

    long term parking

This is why I always turn off sentry mode when parking at airport or cruise terminal. People don't realize how much energy/power is needed to run 4 cameras continuously while keep the computer running to interpret if the videos have something important to flag it as sentry event.

Car wrapped - Parking sensors not working

I added a small clear PPF on my rear bumper to protect it from loading/unloading things. It covers both middle USS but they work fine. It's possible that one sensor has failed. My previous Honda Odyssey had the whole front USS replaced because one was not working right.

Wall Connector Gen 3 install issues

Your picture indicates that Powerwall has no power! Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't muck around looking for why it's not getting any power. When mine was installed, the electrician stayed to make sure it had power and able to charge the car.

    Matrix Headlight Retrofit Inquiry

I got popup notification on the app telling me that it's time to replace my cabin filter.

    Self parking ?

We have 2021 MYLR with FSD paid for. It has USS. Used to be very difficult to trigger auto park feature. With recent FSD V12.3.4, it's easier to see parking option pop up than before. However, our 2023 M3P, vision only, also has FSD V12.3.4 free trial at this time. Auto park with vision is...

2024 Model Y LR (Austin build)

Not any more. Only the MY AWD, not currently available, had front and rear megacast to accommodate the structural 4680 battery pack. The Cybertruck has now taken over that assembly line with 4680 structural battery pack. Austin now builds MY with same 2170 battery pack as Fremont, so it has...

Where is Homelink module on 2018 M3LR?

I believe early M3 had the module in front of the bumper as installation required removal of bumper. Most videos used MY was example but it's not the same location. Look at this video of installation on M3 from 4 years ago.

    Screen locks up!

Like any computer, the Tesla screen can freeze at times. Just reboot it; it may take longer than 10 sec holding the 2 buttons. You can do this while driving if it happens while driving. You can still drive safely; you just don't know your speed or any turn signal/sound that you may have on...

    LFP availability?

The OP is about LFP availability in M3 or MY. According to Watch Tesla Model 3 RWD With LFP Battery Get Delivered In U.S., M3 RWD started to have LFP in the US since late 2021. I only mention about tax credit because the current 2024 MY RWD is qualified for it so, it probably doesn't have LFP...

    LFP availability?

In the US, the M3 RWD has had LFP battery for at least a year. MY RWD in the US is unlikely to have LFP because it's qualified for $7500 tax credit. As far as I know, LFP battery pack are not made in US yet. I have seen posts about Canadian MY RWD with LFP despite being from Fremont. It makes...

Trouble with Model 3 fobs - only 1 can be active?

I don’t have 2 fobs to test. I have 1 fob paired to 2 Teslas. As you noted, fob can only connect to one Tesla at a time. To switch, I touch the fob to the b pillar or center console of the other Tesla and press any button on fob. It seems the car “remembers” the recently connected fob only...

HomeLink on new Tesla Model Y

Keep it. It's not provided as a standard device now so they don't expect one coming back. They won't care. We traded in a non Tesla EV with the charger. The guy asked if I wanted to keep since it works with Tesla.

HomeLink on new Tesla Model Y

MY never came with HomeLink since it came out in 2020. I purchased from Tesla for my 2021 MY. I bought from eBay for my 2023 M3P.

No problem backing in. I too normally back into my garage.
  34. bluenycom

2024 Model Y LR (Austin build)

Jack pad differences was because of different battery pack for MY AWD. The other MY have the same battery pack, so no differences in jack pad.
  35. bluenycom

2024 Model Y LR (Austin build)

Minimal differences for LR. Stuffs you mentions were for the MY AWD only built at Austin, which is not available anymore. US spec MYLR have always had the same battery pack regardless from which factory in the US.

DiY HomeLink Install using in car Service Mode - No need for Tesla Service or ToolBox

Do MLY come with matrix headlights?

Basically, it's the reverse of standard normal headlights, which has low beam by default and high beam as needed. With smart headlights, it's high beam by default, and turn off the affected pixels/LED's (using various technology) pointing at other vehicles ahead. The whole lights are still...

Tesla Model 3 Tire Pressure Sensors Messed Up With New Non-Tesla Tires

Homelink and 2023 Holiday Software Bug?

I have the same software version for both of our Tesla. Both have HomeLink and they are working fine. I only use auto open, not auto close.

Can Y open garage door without myQ?

I know it's a first world problem, but I like automatic opening feature when approaching. I also programed mine for my parent's and sister in law's garages (Max of 3). I bought the HomeLink kit from ebay and installed it myself. It was pretty easy DIY project.

    Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 Tires

I currently have the 1st Gen tires. I think they are more quiet than OEM Continental. However, they are definitely less efficient. Maybe 2nd Gen will improve on efficiency.

    Re-use card key?

I do the same with our M3 and MY. Key cards are "passive" since they don't have internal power. I am guessing that one Tesla would not "know" if the key card is used with another Tesla already.

How to disable cellular antenna in M3

I use FSD everyday and haven't had a strike since the "new" update. I had only 2 strikes the entire time I had the car since 2021. I think people either exacerbated or they ARE the exact type of drivers the update is meant to target.

Purchasing a Key Fob? Do you have to purchase through Tesla, or do any of the 3rd party sites ones work?

I have the Tesla Fob. It has both proximity (Bluetooth needing power) and NFC capabilities (passive like keycard). It is paired with both our MY and M3. The item you showed only has passive function like keycard.

3 weeks away should I leave plugged in

It doesn't matter. I plugged in during the first few extended trips but didn't the last few. I parked without sentry mode. The most I have seen was 2 or 3 percent drop in 3 weeks.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

$125 for some one to come to my house/work to install the upgrade is a BARGAIN to me. As for your answer about software update, HEPA filter can still work without software update, but not as well. If you look at what's added, you'd see they replaced the original air intake with new one with...

Remote key fob - Does it have proximity capability?

I have the FOB and Pixel 7 Pro phone. In rare case, the phone stopped working as key, but that's mainly be cause I hadn't used the app for weeks or after some updates. A reboot normally fixed it. Similar experience with my previous Pixel 5 phone. FOB does have proximity function and it works...
