Tesla Wall Charger- Issue after installation

First you really need to finish the commissioning process! During setup do not select a Vehicle Charging window, for now. Next, if you are using any 3rd party apps remove them. Then go to the “Schedule” screen in the app, under “Departure” make sure everything is off, then check under the...

    Dessicant bag maintenance

@JPWhite I think you just learned the hard way to never take your car to a Tesla SC unless you have no other choice. Always take your car to shops that do the work you need day in and day out. For example, Discount Tire rotates tires for free!

RPM HUD Turn Signal Stopped Working

I have a “Sight-Line Dashboard Cluster Display (4.5" Rectangular Style)|” from RPM Tesla. The turn signal in the HUD has stopped working, which I have attributed to the latest Tesla update (2024.20.1). Anybody else having similar issues? I know Tesla does not support “3rd party” items, but if...

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

There are a number of potentials. Please post a screen shot of the app where you see 16A, and also under “schedule” post screen shots of the “Departure” and “Charge” screens. Also, what Tesla adapter are you using e.g. 14-50, 6-50, ??? BTW, if you are using any third party apps, do not use them...

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

Maybe your WC functions differently, but in the U.S. we can add the WC to the app and easily control it. The only setting we have is to set the allowable charging window. Note it is easy to also turn it off if you really want to charge at peak hours.
  8. ATPMSD

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

It depends on the objective. If the objective is simply to ensure the car only charges during off-peak, then using the setting in the wall connector is the easiest and most reliable method. The SOC then defines the upper limit.

    Car charged to 100 %

So many posts on this point! For example: Even for LFP charging to 100% is never good for the battery - because in the end it is still a Lithium ion battery. Tesla only recommends charging to 100% because the BMS only accurately predicts SOC and therefore range, when the voltage is maximum. So...

    Rotating Tires with Directional Wheels

I suggest there is not “right” way since this is a matter of aesthetics. The only potential consideration, that comes to mind, is the “wrong” way could add drag and reduce mileage.
  11. ATPMSD

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

I suggest you have this too complicated. Turn off everything in the Tesla app and only use the settings in the wall connector. This will only allow the car to charge in the off-peak window. If you leave the car set to 80% SOC that is what you will have each morning. BTW, as noted above, if you...

Thinking about getting a Model Y

I had a Model S and now I have a Model Y. As I recall the Mercedes C is a “sedan” while the Y is a small SUV. Brake service by Tesla certified mechanic only

Never take your car to a Tesla SC unless you have no other choice. IMHO any competent shop can do brake work. I live in Georgia and just for fun I looked up a brake service on the Pep Boys website for a 2016 Model X, the “Premium” service is about $230. I suggest you shop around. Good luck!

    14-50 requirements

If you install a 14-50 it should be on a 50a circuit unless your breaker box could not handle a 50a circuit. Also make sure he did not install a cheap outlet, you need a Hubbell or Bryant outlet. These are designed to handle the continuous loads of EV charging.

Phantom Drain Can be minimized/ controlled

This does not make sense. A model Y will lose about 1% / week if Sentry and overhead protection are off. For example, on a recent trip I left my car at the airport for 2-weeks and it lost just 2% (started at 79% came home at 77%). If you are losing 4-5% over a few hours something else is amiss...

    GFCI

This is not permitted; EV circuits need to be dedicated. For clarity, the GFCI protection in the TWC and UMC are there to protect the connection to the car. The GFCI in the breaker box is there to protect a wall outlet, therefore, it is required for a 14-50 outlet and not for the TWC since...
  25. ATPMSD

    GFCI

In the case of the MC, while it does have an internal GFCI the outlet still requires one (by code). If there is a GFCI tripping problem this is a wiring / grounding issue. The only way to avoid a GFCI breaker is to use a hardwired solution, such as the wall connector.
  26. ATPMSD

    GFCI

    1. The GFCI breaker is required by code 2. You must also purchase a 14-50 outlet that is designed for a continuous load, so this will run you about $80 or so, 3. You will be better off buying a wall connector which willl be cheaper and is far more capable, Approximate prices: Mobile Connector...
