Fender trim garnish - Anyone ever lose one randomly?

I just had my right rear "garnish" piece come half-off while driving down the highway at about 70 mph. No water puddle involved. The back half was flopping ii the breeze and it scuffed up the side of the car. I have no idea why it came off, there hasn't been any damage there and nothing...

Why is Tesla service department (SD) customer service so bad?

The repair/axel placement that was scheduled for one day took four... and the day after I got the car back, i got messages about traction control disabled, cruise control disabled, something with braking... so back it went, on a truck for another day. They called back the next day and said all...

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

The repair of the front half axels and bearings was completed about 1,500 miles ago... not a long time but so far so good. It doesn't seem to matter what height I set or how hard I accelerate... no shudder. The only problem I had with this repair, other than 4 days, was the day after I drove...

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

update.... first appointment was in September, and the day before they sent me a msg saying "sorry, no loaner available and your car needs to be here overnight. Please reschedule"... Ok, so I rescheduled for yesterday... with a loaner. you need to leave the car overnight, pick up tomorrow...

Why is Tesla service department (SD) customer service so bad?

My local (Albany NY) SC or SD is equally bad... first appointment was in September, and the day before they sent me a msg saying "sorry, no loaner available and your car needs to be here overnight. Please reschedule"... Ok, so I rescheduled for yesterday... with a loaner. when I showed up for...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

I thought he was using a regular screwdriver... and just put a little extra umph into each screw... as you said, the results speak for themselves. I've charged it three times since he was here and each time was problem free. Maybe to him nothing needed significant tightening, but just that...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

Hi all, thanks for your answers... Rocky already answered the "why did you use that plug" question, thanks Rocky. And the three feet of cable is actually THHN rated to 90 degrees C and rated to 55A so that wasn't the issue... but see below. MXYMN, "positive" side was my layman way of saying...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

see below... it could be the adapter or I may have found a problem in the outlet... even though the electrician has checked it twice...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

I had to re-use my original one... BUT... I put my FLIR camera to use and I found something perhaps telling... the hottest spot is in the adapter plug, on the positive side. When I pulled the plug and scanned the outlet, that was the same hottest spot... that one very localized area was about...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

I will double check the wire... the second column does show a 50A rating... maybe I misspoke when I said "plain old 8 ga romex..." BUT, perhaps more importantly, I put my FLIR camera to use and I found something perhaps telling... the hottest spot is in the adapter plug, on the positive side...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

it is only three feet from the breaker box to the outlet, straight shot. it is one 8 ga romex cable, not individual wires and not in a conduit. I get 120V off each leg when testing the outlet, and the outlet doesn't get hot during charging... the plug gets warm, the mobile connector box gets...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

Hi Shawn, thanks for the welcome... it is a pair of 50A breakers, with appropriately sized 8ga copper wire. The electrician has double checked all the connections from the circuit breakers to the outlet. The outlet and the plug feel warm but no where near as hot as the mobile connector. The...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

thanks for the reply, but as I said they plug it into a 20A circuit and only charge at 16A max, unable to duplicate the problem.

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

Thanks for the input... I did lower mine to the max so it seems to have minimized the shudder... but at standard height it was pretty bad so I think I am going ahead with the repair... fingers crossed.

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

I have a Model X bought in March of 2020... i.e. in the middle of the pandemic. At this point 18 months later we only have 11,000 miles on it and we've noticed the shudder getting worse for the last two months... normally driven in "standard" height... when the service tech felt the shudder in...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

The saga continues... I called Tesla SC during one of these episodes of 21 mph to 10 mph and "hot" mobile connector. They went online and looked at it and said "yep, the mobile connector it hot..." but nothing they could do until they tested it in shop. I made an appointment and took the car...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

:)Thanks Rocky, you hit the proverbial nail on the head. I guess I didn't "research" enough to find a separate manual for the mobile connector. to answer the questions... it is being charged in a "cool" garage not outside in the sun... and this has happened when it is only 35 degrees in the...

    flaky mobile connector charging problem

I have a 2020 Model X and I use a mobile charger at home with the 6-50 adapter. sometimes it charges at a "full" 21 mph, 238 V and 32A... other times it only charges at 10 mph and 16A. When that happens on the mobile connector the T in TESLA glows amber or red and the ESLA glow green and the...
