    Few Model S/Tesla Questions...

UK: Tesla after-sale experience reviews in UK. What’s your experience?

2021 M3 LR. Had initial rattles fixed and subsequently two other things fixed after the car detected faults. Latter two done by drop off with no human interaction. All fine, if rather impersonal. Brake servicing done by a local garage with no problems - too far to the Birmingham service centre...

Did you know? (Charge port open/close/unlatch debate)

There's also a version with male and female type 2 connectors, if you have an untethered charge point: Charging cable with Tesla command button - evChargeking. Both single and three phase versions. I'm quite happy with the standard behaviour, but if you want to save a little time then this...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

I've had the car slow down (on standard AP, don't have EAP/FSD) for roundabouts regularly in the past, but always had to slow it further on the final approach. However, I've had to experiment to see if it would do it, so if you slow down as normal you'd never notice it slowing. Never tried it at...

Octopus Founders - a little thankyou from Octopus

You could try this: Royal Mail opt out. Not trying to divert the thread or start a discussion. For information only, and I admit there are downsides in that you might just miss something you wanted - if you read it before throwing it.

    [UK] 2024.14.x

Yep. Knew about that. The strange thing was that you pushed left / right in this case, but if you did a long press on the left scroll wheel you had to rotate it up and down. Totally inconsistent. So I should have said that the change in the UI makes things consistent, rather than new. In fact...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

One useful thing for me, assuming it works as described (I don't have the update yet). If you touch the wiper button (giving a wipe you might not want) or the wiper icon (if you put it in the My Apps bar) then you can rotate the left scroll wheel up and down to change the wiper speed. And once...

    [UK] Spring Software Update

It was announced as a press release, rather than just starting to appear like many upgrades do. So that means it could be ages. I'll start thinking about it once the first one appears on, for example, Teslafi. Nothing yet.

    Trailing efficiency steps?

Sounds like you are already doing a good job of aero efficiency. A 5% to 10% reduction efficiency is low for towing anything. For reference, towing a boxy trailer gives a far bigger hit: He also finds that the weight of the trailer load has little effect, so the hit comes from aerodynamics.

    Help Please

Just to build on your original post, the driving reason to donate to prostate cancer research is to fund development of a better test, to replace the PSA test, so that both false positives and false negatives can be dramatically reduced. Not just to prevent cancer, but to avoid people having...

    Help Please

My impression is that PSA tests can be a good thing (I had one every year for a while) but need to be treated with some care. It sounds as though they lead to false positives and you need to know the best way to proceed if you get a positive test. There was a BBC Inside Health programme on the...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

It won't come in the next 6 days. There isn't a single install yet on TeslaFi. I only start to think I might get an update once 10's of percent of cars have had it. It can take weeks.

Recommendations for Model 3 roof sun shades

Well, I finally remembered. We left the shades on throughout a two week trip through Spain and Portugal. I didn't try to do any tests by removing them to check for any differences, However, my impression is that having them fitted delayed the rate at which the cabin heated up after we parked...

Requirement for a 'Being Serviced' mode

When my Model 3 is being serviced at a third party or at a bodywork shop I'd like to be able to select a mode that is very similar to Valet mode (preventing, for example, adding new keys) but allowing the frunk to be opened and Service Mode to be accessed (both of which are prevented by Valet...

What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

We have the tow bar on our M3 and use an Atera Strada Sport 2-bike carrier (15kg). We carry a couple of light touring bikes (say 15 kg each with racks) so keep within the 55kg limit. No problems using them and just keep a small mat to kneel on to see what I'm doing. Besides the weight limit...

Notes from a Small Roadtrip - UK to Norway via Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden

But Electroverse shows an extensive network of available chargers in Norway and all the other countries on the route. Shell Recharge looks to have fewer in Norway, but still a reasonable number on the main routes. Is there a problem using either?

Has anyone connected up pins 9 and/or 10 on the towing electrics on a 3?

I stumbled across this some time ago: Model 3 Inverter Power Connection I just noted its reference to the DC connection under the rear seat for if I ever needed one. I've not checked it out for technical correctness. Might be a starting point. I assume that you're just wanting '12V', and the...

    [UK specific] Software Update 2023.26

Tesla might be stumbling towards a partial solution. Just build on how a long press on the left scroll wheel can now be allocated so that scrolling the left wheel adjusts the wiper speed. Add a general rule that whenever a card (wiper or lights) is displayed, then the left scroll wheel changes...

    Non-Tesla charging sucks

Which is great and shows Tesla are doing a good job. But we take our Tesla to the Lakes and Pembrokeshire for a week or so, for example, and couldn't cope with only using superchargers, the nearest being at Tebay and Carmarthen. Both a needless 1.5 to 2 hour round trip away. We also toured...

    Non-Tesla charging sucks

I've had a far better success rate than that with CPS travelling around Scotland, with just the odd failure. It is somewhat dependent on region, as the maintenance is, I believe, down to the local owner. The key message is not to go without a CPS RFID card. Some chargers are in a location where...

    Public charging

It's a bad idea to leave the battery close to 100% or low for any length of time. But if I know I'm definitely using the EV the next day and might need some range I've no problem charging to 100% overnight. I do limit to 80% or 90% if I'm just topping up. No sign of much battery degradation on 2...

    [UK specific] Software Update 2023.26

I'm definitely not a Tesla fanboy and have all the standard complaints. But the following changes have been useful (to me) in the last 9 months: Auto turn signals on initial move of left stalk (instead of three flashes). Supercharger pricing visible from the map. Auto heated steering wheel...

    [UK specific] Software Update 2023.26

You can also bring up the light control by pushing the left stalk (flashing the headlights). Just like pressing the button on the end of the left stalk brings up the wiper control (although I've now put wiper control on the long press of the left scroll wheel).

    Leaving Someone in Car..

No. If you both have your phones as keys then it will stay unlocked if either of them is in the car. Adds the difficulty that if a handbag is left in the car with a phone in it the car won't lock when you both walk away. So you need to be vigilant that it has locked.

    M3P Brake Service £358??

Who by? I had brake pads removed, cleaned out and put back with grease, brake fluid test and MOT type suspension and braking test done for £125 for second year service at a competent local garage. I suspect this should have been nearer £175 as they gave me a discount for failing to provide an...

Recommendations for Model 3 roof sun shades

Well, I've bought them ready for a long trip south. I bought them partly because of the second, silvered layer, that might reflect some heat. And partly because of the sensible price. All I can say for now is that they fit and the quality seems fine. As some reviewers say, the clips don't fix...

    MY Sill PPF

On the Model 3 at least, the body design is susceptible to stone chips. Ours (2021) didn't have PPF on the sills (I don't believe the Model 3 does even now?) and quickly got chips. I touched them up and fitted the small PPF kit from Tesla. No problems since.

Europe Trip Planner - Gathering your thoughts on essentials

I had no difficulty completing the form to buy. However, it requires that your bank will handle Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) multiple direct debits, which mine (Santander, a Spanish bank!) won't. The UK is signed up to SEPA. Does anyone have a UK account that will accept SEPA? One...

    2023.6.x

Keep an eye on TeslaFi.com Firmware Tracker. 56% of the cars they are monitoring are still on 2023.2.12 with most of the rest on earlier versions. There has just been a small push on 2023.6.8 - currently at 5%. Releases tend to build slowly, and there is presumably certainly a risk of those...

Model Y onboard charger Voltage Tolerance?

One possible cause of the symptoms you describe is that one or more properties on the DNO supply have had significant quantities of solar installed. That raises the line voltage at midday and doesn't overnight, of course. I believe that is one of the reasons why you have to seek permission from...

Does it matter what charger I pay

In the UK, you need to have PEN fault protection, either in the charge point or as a separate unit. I don't know if the latest TWC has it built in. It's not clear from the Tesla web site at a quick glance, but as it's only a UK requirement it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't, as they are...
