    Quick 4-month new MY report

The shorter range hasn't been an issue at all for you?
  2. PassingLane

Can I turn off TACC and just get speed controlled cruise (phantom braking issue again)

The phantom braking issue has now started appearing on cruise control. Nice weather, daylight, no other vehicles, no change in speed limits, TACC decided it needed to hit the brakes. Not super hard, just seemed to be regen braking. We no longer use Autopilot and haven't in about a year due to...

Gave up on Autopilot, is Cruise Control next?

Or birds. I once had a bird try to fly through my front grill on another car. Didn’t end well for it.

Gave up on Autopilot, is Cruise Control next?

I’m really not the the best person to debug Tesla issues but I’ll give it a try. I thought the rain sensor was in the rear-view mirror pod?

Gave up on Autopilot, is Cruise Control next?

So far so good. About 2 hrs into the return journey. Windshield wipers keep wiping though.
  6. PassingLane

Gave up on Autopilot, is Cruise Control next?

Today, cruise control just randomly shut off. No reason given. Multi lane highway, normal traffic and good weather. And, every time I reactivate cruise, the windshield wipers come on and won’t turn off. Sheesh. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I’ve reset the car and cruise is working...

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

Someone described it as a rolling tent. Reminds me of these old things:
  8. PassingLane

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

I don’t think it’s completely ugly but what I detest is all those sharp edges. I also think this was Musk’s design that was forced on the engineers, not the other way around.

Why don’t the cars talk ?

The volume would have to be turned up really loud to be heard over my wife’s voice commands :)

    The anti-Tesla EV lovers

I don't feel the cameras provide the best FSD experience. Things seemed better when LIDAR (or was it radar?) was in the mix.

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

Ok, I'm going to stop arguing with you. The internet isn't conducive to it.

HELP! Dropped something behind the lid, how do I get it out ?

Ooooh, nice! But, I'm slightly disappointed you didn't chose hot pink.

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

The SC team would not have been entirely engineers. I hope you're right but saying that there's something wrong with someone if they can't get another (assuming equivalent) job in a suitable locale is showing an extreme lack of understanding of what they are going through.

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

That’s a bit harsh isn’t it? What if they don’t live near the next job opportunity? What if it’s a single mother working part time in HR? I feel really bad for those who were fired, some of which may be on this forum and may be struggling.

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

Or I misheard too. Thanks for the clarification.
  16. PassingLane

    The anti-Tesla EV lovers

Well I’ve mentioned it before but Musk’s leadership is a big turn off for me. The recent dismantling of the Super Charger team is another. Now, Musk’s focus on robots as the future shows again the vehicle division is taking a back seat. He no longer cares as much about the vehicle division and...

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

    Wonder what YouTuber meant then.
  18. PassingLane

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

I didn’t find it. It was reported by a vlogger. Not sure what he called it now that you mention it but I thought he said FSD. If it’s important, I can try to find the video again.

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

Can we go back to shooting thieves? These cars are our horses and stealing a man's horse was a crime against all humanity back then. Should be today too.
  20. PassingLane

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

I agree with you. It's flawed and worse than not having it all. Even the new Cybertruck has phantom braking which almost caused a collision in one recent review.
  21. PassingLane

    2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

We should trade cars. We stopped using Autopilot due to all the fails and then decided to give it one more shot when FSD became free for a month. It's still glitched and unpredictable even in perfect conditions. Every update to FSD/Autopilot changes removes the ability to just engage cruise...

    Supercharger team sacked?

Sometimes we can't see genius vision for what it is and sometimes leaders think they can't make a bad decision. We're getting too much of the latter from Musk lately.
  23. PassingLane

    Supercharger team sacked?

Elon is a micro manager. For better or worse. Lately, it's for worse.
  24. PassingLane

    Supercharger team sacked?

That was my first thought too.
  25. PassingLane

    Supercharger team sacked?

Is Henry still making cars? Talk about a long-living CEO.
  26. PassingLane

    Supercharger team sacked?

I don't that them. Why do you say that? I don't even hate Musk.
  27. PassingLane

    Supercharger team sacked?

I don't think it's the best car in the world. I still prefer driving my compact SUV over our Model 3. Autopilot is made more useless with each update and we can't turn the windshield wipers off. I don't like how Musk treats his employees and I don't agree with his political views. I don't feel...

    Supercharger team sacked?

We won't be buying another Tesla as long as Musk is at the helm. I think he wants a company with zero employees lol.

    First Long Road Trip

More than just nags. I’ve already received one strike. That was for grabbing a coffee from the cupholder. My wife and agreed we just won’t use autopilot anymore.
  30. PassingLane

    First Long Road Trip

Argh. New problem just reared its ugly head. The seatbelt warning won’t go away for the left rear seat. We’ve had to connect the belt even though there’s nothing on the seat.

    First Long Road Trip

It will also turn off lane departure assistance very quickly when driving in a construction zone that forces one to drive on the shoulder. I get that but Telsa’s approach seems to be to shut off aids when a driver might most benefit from them.

    First Long Road Trip

No they aren’t (customer sat) at least if you believe Consumer Reports.

    I didn’t buy it. It’s the wife’s car.

    First Long Road Trip

Hi, good to hear. The wipers are returning to Auto mode when just using cruise. I stopped using Autopilot about two days ago. The wipers returning to Auto would be OK if they’d stop activating in sunshine when there’s no moisture.
  35. PassingLane

    First Long Road Trip

That’s exactly what I found myself doing. Manually pushing down on the throttle. It sometimes seems to get stuck and won’t accelerate until you so this.
  36. PassingLane

    First Long Road Trip

I don’t think i was holding the wheel now that you mention it.
  37. PassingLane

    First Long Road Trip

Spent two weeks on the road. Barely ever used autopilot as you can’t do anything normal with it it engaged. Dipped my chin slightly to take a bite of a wrap and it shut off and told me I wasn’t driving safely. It’s completely useless now and a waste of money. Did notice though that if I wore...

Autopilot Asking for Input Every 11 Seconds

Before getting our Telsa I thought Autopilot and/or FSD was all about making the vehicle safer and assisting the driver with avoiding accidents. Now I see it as a more of a curiosity that nags you when you drive it like a regular old Corolla and in fact, it’s so determined not to help you, it...

    Major Phantom Braking Issues

I think that's what I meant. I keep calling it FSD but it's autopilot I believe.
  40. PassingLane

Autopilot Asking for Input Every 11 Seconds

Yes, I had one hand on the wheel I think. I took my time placing and removing the coffee so might have been more than a couple of seconds. Do you get the warnings with just one hand on the wheel?
  41. PassingLane

Autopilot Asking for Input Every 11 Seconds

The latest update from a few days ago is shite. Although I don't use it very often, FSD told me I needed both hands on the wheel and issued a warning. When I looked down to grab my coffee it issued a warning. When I looked down to place the coffee back in the cupholder it told me I wasn't paying...

Better than what? Cruise on its own? Or did you mean better than before?

    Major Phantom Braking Issues

We stopped using FSD a year ago. Don’t trust it and not taking any chances with getting rear ended.
  44. PassingLane

I’m feeling dumb. How do you resume cruise after cancelling it?

Yeah. Was frustrated after the update as I couldn’t engage cruise. Once we landed at our destination I was able to reconfigure it so cruise was once again available. I feel it’s not smart what they did. But well Tesla.
  45. PassingLane

I’m feeling dumb. How do you resume cruise after cancelling it?

Tap it? Not flick it up or down then. Ok!
