After they kept ramping up FS production the uniqueness, FOMO, and questionable initial value went away. One lesson I won't relearn. Tesla production eventually outpaces consumer demand. I would guess within a year Tesla will be discounting non-FS CTs.

I have to agree. It's too narrow and the display bezel makes it even less visible from the driver's seat. Add to that it'll likely be near impossible to monitor/see via video from mounted internal cameras.

It did well. It appears to be a huge trash bag. I can't recall similar scenarios to arrive at the same conclusion.

Elon plans to squeeze every ounce of profit potential from anyone dumb enough to buy in. In the past Elon said Tesla would take a percentage of revenue from the owners and that's after charging an upfront cost, possibly a franchise fee, to purchase the RT feature.

Elon says training is no longer the limiting factor. He says FSD is working so well now that the limiting factor is the miles between interventions. Says the miles between interventions is so long the team can't tell which software version is better than the other. Says it's getting to the point...

And then he started rambling again about distributed inference compute. Says our cars will be like a distributed AWS cloud when parked. Sure thing Elon. No worries about lack of memory, interconnection speed, cyber threats, etc. :rolleyes:

At the shareholder meeting Elon is talking about HW3/HW4/HW5. He says HW3 still has much more possible improvement. :) But HW4, development begins later this year and will be 3-8x better than HW3. HW5 comes out in about 18 months and will be 10x more capable than HW4. All these changes will...

Agreed. After all these years there's still too many issues and maintainability continues to remain elusive. Given that FSD is closer to being junk than a refined respected consumer product.

Watching him sit in the left lane with v12.4.1 enabled and repeatedly ignoring that flagman's instructions, for me, only confirms he's a narcissistic sociopath.

As many have said before it would've been more effective to do the traditional system design and engineering upfront versus this seemingly never ending low credibility, slow, piece-meal, hype parade.

It feels like they are trying to get any slight improvement so they can stick a fork in HW3 and move on. So far v12 has been a dud. What is limiting progress if training isn't to blame? Design? Execution?

I doubt it but I've been surprised before with these wide FSD releases with questionable improvements. If anything I'd guess a mind blowing 12.4.2 release in two weeks and this time it really should be called v13. :)

Yep. These releases, in general, haven't lived up to the hype. And this time the worm seemed to turn more quickly including that Tesla employee.

Agreed with his routes being boring. Sounds like he prefers 12.3.6 aside from 12.4.1 being hands free. Some issues with unprotected lefts and late lane selections.

Slowing the video down shows FSD lights up the detour path and starts moving before the flagman flips the stop sign.

As we know, AI Driver and Elon were referring to a stationary object in path. It's just projecting that object forward in time as FSD moves around it. Not much different than a projecting a previously tracked object forward in time when there's a lost radar return. Recall Elon didn't like that...

That's next level stuff. V12 isn't aware of sign postings like no turn on red let alone retaining 30 secs of memory.

It's early but v12.4.1 doesn't seem any worse than 12.3.6 so hopefully it makes the cut. I seriously doubt the 5-10x improved intervention claims unless those are related to accel/decel.

Sorry, I meant to say left lane. I saw the no left turn sign. But more importantly for item #2, zero chance FSD has contextual awareness and even if it did it's well before the intersection.

Looks like it made a right turn from left turn lane. AKA another nonzero intervention drive.

That's unfortunate. For me v12.3.6 consistently does that most noticeably on 3 lane roads. It makes a right turn into the right most lane of a 3 lane road from an intersection. Quickly takes the center lane. Moments later and 2 blocks before it needs to make a left it again takes the right most...

Or it took that long for FSD to decide to go around it. More optimal to go around it sooner.

At one point Elon was saying 10ms too. That'd be the day. I could be way off base but I bet there will be even more dawdling at stop sign intersections if v12.4.1 finally removes the 10.69 stop short/creep crutch.

I've had something similar happen twice on the freeway. In both cases FSD and the other cars were turning into the same open lane and I disengaged. I could see it happening as the other cars had their turn signals on. Somehow FSD didn't sense it, but even if it did, it happens so fast FSD...

There's more to it than that. One of the three engines disabled slightly before the other two. Timber!

I'm still wrapping my head around the apparent NVDA chip faux pas. Elon tweeted TSLA had no place to put them so they needed send them to xAI. Today we learn xAI still needed to purchase land for the supercomputer site. Could this be the planned site for these GPUs?

True for many states but not all. And so it's not the safest choice especially when FSD isn't tailored for all jurisdictions.

Time will tell if this is real but the first ~3 mins were a bit painful to watch. It remains slow and indecisive. Later it performs a lane changed in an intersection. And made a lane change over a solid white line in the left turn lanes. On the positive, max set speed is improved, accel/decel...

And it shouldn't happen but v12.3.6 still has trouble staying centered in the lane. It regularly crosses over the double yellow lines/median with intersection left turns. Still struggles with the basics.

Elon now says v12.5 and v12.6 should really be called v14 and v15. 🤣

No worries. The truth eventually arrives - it's just taking a bit longer with v12.4. I'm sure it will be equally mind blowing. :)

Anything you do while driving is related to safety. Intervening when FSD accelerates too fast, tailgates, excessively decelerates, phantom brakes, picks the wrong lane, crosses over the double yellow line on a left turn is related to safety. FSD supervisors are suppose to be that last piece of...

Or maybe he's trying to stay employed. :) Unless every Tesla employee's camera is uncalibrated, it doesn't answer why v12.4 has taken so long. And poorly calibrated cameras tends to disable FSD with a UI indicated error. Anything coming from Tesla related to FSD ensures BS is alive and well.

I'm thinking FSD and Optimus training depends more on the data versus vehicle sales. I was wondering if FSD training is still limited and Elon wanted to prioritize X and xAI to get caught up with their competition. In any event, if true, it's another example of Elon possibly making unethical...
