The effect of short term capital gains tax on performance should not be trivialized. It can knock as much as 37% off your actual gains. But I guess it’s just human nature to gloss over such things.

    Wish List Item: Weather Radar

I’ve requested this before. I use an aviation app on my iPhone (WingX) on “Track Up”. On occasion, it can suggest that we divert slightly to avoid the strongest returns. In any case, I just like having that weather information available in almost real time. “Almost” because there is always a...

I did not mean to imply that. Had the pricing and range been anywhere close to the original numbers - adjusted for inflation - I’d either be in a CyberBeast right now or eagerly awaiting delivery of one. If 500 miles of range (est 250 miles towing) means sacrificing much of the truck bed...

For reservation holders, I think the problem might extend beyond simple frustration. I know at least one reservation holder that is foregoing the CyberTruck based not only on price but on range and features. And that one reservation holder - who I know intimately - is now considering a Rivian...

Of course they need to maximize profits. But sometimes the way they chase short term profits can alienate potential customers and negatively affect long term prospects. But it’s a balancing act, and time will tell how successful their strategy proves to be overall.

I do have an issue with it. Given the proposed release prices at the unveiling, it smacks of “bait and switch”. Quite literally. I understand there’s been inflation. But the size of the price increase makes it border on opportunistic price gouging. It may turn out to be the best course to...

I was thinking along those lines. “Crab walking” could be useful for getting into tight “parallel parking” situations. Similarly, a vehicle capable of rotating about its vertical axis could prove invaluable for a robotaxi that found itself unable to go forward but didn’t have space to turn...

We recently bought a used Toyota Tundra from a local dealer. Saw it online and just wanted to check it out. Drove home with it about 90 minutes after the test drive. We were in our 2011 Ford Flex with transmission issues, and got a reasonable amount in trade for its condition. No financing...

At 74, I still love to ride, albeit a bit slower and more cautiously than I did in those heady days of youth. I moved to where I live now due primarily to the wonderful motorcycle roads in the area. Been riding for the better part of 60 years, and I’ll continue as long as I am able. As far as...

Does your state have a Lemon Law? P.S. - there are other threads on this forum for general CyberTruck bashing. Let’s try to keep this one targeted on this member’s issues. P.P.S. - Not to be cynical, but some photos or documentation would certainly lend credence to climbyun’s problems.

Is Elon thinking of REHIRING some of the fired SuperCharging folks

Agree. Battery technology is creeping forward, but slowly and incrementally. And batteries in an airplane need to be lightweight, energy dense and capable of being recharged quickly*. At the current rate of improvement, I’d say we’re at least a decade away from a transport-category electric...

I do not see TSLA crashing if Elon leaves as inevitable. The risk of him leaving is already baked into the share price. It could easily go up once any uncertainty about leadership going forward is eliminated. There’s a chess axiom that may apply: “The threat is more powerful than the...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

To be fair, shorting stock is a strategy that some avoid on general principle. Finite upside/infinite downside if you guess wrong. No matter how down I was on a stock, I would never short it for that reason.

Is Elon thinking of REHIRING some of the fired SuperCharging folks

Maybe. Maybe not. But those new hires would likely know how their predecessors were let go. I don’t know how excited or motivated they might be knowing they could be fired en masse regardless of their individual performance and/or value to the company. Coming to work every day knowing you’re...

I’ve sent a fair amount of time battling unwarranted FUD re: Tesla’s and EV’s in general on several social media sites. FUD should not be assumed to be unwarranted or used in a derogatory manner. Fear, uncertainty and doubt may be quite justified when a company’s actions - including those of...

I’ve mentioned that we recently bought a used 2022 Toyota Tundra to serve primarily as a tow vehicle. It has both Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist*. The Adaptive Cruise Control seems on par with Tesla’s. The Lane Keep Assist is noticeably less smooth. So, even pretty standard ICE...

I’ve mentioned how disillusioned I’ve been with what’s going on at Tesla, and specifically with what are apparently impulsive actions by Musk. I’m not sure I want to be invested in a company that treats its employees - and top managers - so cavalierly. As such, I have a plan concerning our...

    Supercharger team sacked?

Considered? Yes. But then decided against for now. I mentioned elsewhere I may put in at least a “mental” stop loss order at $122/share, my current basis. It’s one thing to admit one was wrong about a company and not make money, it’s another to hang on in desperation when one begins to lose...

To be pedantic, “decimate” literally means to reduce by 10%, so not really appropriate here. Though I’ll stipulate that in common usage it’s often used to mean to reduce by a substantial or extreme amount.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Don’t recall that. But I do recall a car company (Volvo?) a few decades ago floating the idea of what it would take to make a car last “forever”. Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Do you use Superchargers? And if so, do you have to drop the trailer each time to do so? I ask because we delayed our CyberTruck purchase for the time being and bought a lightly used Toyota Tundra largely for towing. It kinda sucks going back to ICE, but there’s no denying the convenience of...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Don't know if this has been mentioned already, but what do you suppose these Draconian cuts do to employee morale overall? I imagine there was a certain pride in being a Tesla employee, but it would be hard not to have "Sword of Damocles" feelings now among the remaining employees.

Not sure about that. For example, they opened 24 stalls in Powell, TN, north of Knoxville. Two other Supercharger locations nearby, though this one has easy I-75 access while the others don’t. Still, this is still just north of a Supercharger “desert” I mentioned before. That “desert” is...

Not so long ago, I posted this: Recent developments certainly haven’t helped in this regard, with firings of “new product” and Supercharger employees. Maybe there’s “method to the madness”, but the perception of loss of direction clearly doesn’t inspire confidence. I’m even more discouraged...
