    Navigation routes

I had a similar issue last year in Washington State. ABRP had shown that I could easily get to my destination over a mountain pass that is closed often due to snow. The car navigation appeared to believe that same pass was closed when it had been open for a week and would not navigate or...

Trip Report: San Francisco Bay Area to Las Vegas, NV (Presidents Day Weekend 2023)

The coastal highway (California 1) is closed near Lucia, CA due to rock slides - US 101 is a northbound option from San Simeon to San Francisco. There are convenient destination chargers at Hearst Castle (Plugshare is very useful!). San Francisco to Las Vegas via Yosemite NP and Bishop (Death...

How pervasive is the HVAC “smell” issue in the PNW?

16 months with my M3LR - parked outside 24K miles - climate control on Auto 70 degrees at all times (use recirculate only when following a diesel vehicle or wildfire smoke). No odor from climate vents at all.

Is there a way to confirm proper active shutter operation?

Last winter I experienced a couple supercharger sessions when the radiator fan ran at maximum speed as my charge limit was reached - but no airflow through radiator opening (below front bumper). I could see that the active shutter was closed while the fan ran like a jet engine. It was cold out...

    Yellowstone National Park

I did part of this same trip last August in reverse. Idaho Falls to West Yellowstone (to destination charger at Grey Wolf Inn) via Jackson Hole entering Yellowstone NP from the south. 235 miles easy with 80% charge M3LR. 80% daily was also plenty for two days driving all around the park. The...

    Alaska Tesla Adventure!

Who would have thought that Alaska Ferry reliability would be more of a worry than finding chargers?!? I want to do a similar trip next year - but ferry up to Whittier from Bellingham to start. So sorry for the abrupt ending of your trip.

When traveling, do you bother with trying to find hotels with EV charging? Can you depend on them?

I stayed at a Marriott chain hotel in Durango Colorado in April - they had several Chargepoint L2 chargers which required either a Chargepoint account or your room key to activate charger - no charge if you were staying there. Seemed to me a good way to encourage people with EVs to stay there...

Shell Recharge - anyone use? know how?

I use the Shell Recharge app here in Seattle regularly (no home charging) - they have the lowest DCFC rate around ($.22/KWh evenings and all day Sunday). There are several former greenlots sites that Shell Recharge took over here which have been reliable enough. I never tried anything other than...

    Supercharger - Renton, WA

All construction seems finished and fencing moved to a corner of lot (waiting for removal?), Only thing missing is the transformer. As of yesterday (May 12) afternoon.

2000 Miles in two days CA and AZ (USA)

Isn't Nebraska one of those states that does not allow billing by kWh? I looked at my charging invoices when I traveled through there last summer and they also all had billing by time. It appears to me that Tesla is listing billing rates that reflect the $/kWh as the charge rate ramps down. One...

    Supercharger Pricing in WA State

I used the Tukwila SC last weekend and middle of the day rate was $.35/kWh - late night was $.17/kWh. a change from $.31/kWh at all hours in December. It looks like similar changes to all puget sound SC.

Nearly $.20/ kWh less for peak times here in Seattle area.

    TSLA and EVgo

Excellent EVGo experience today: I setup autocharge with my M3 at one of the signet locations here and got 190kW. Since EVGo charges by the minute in Washington State, and I was able to precondition my pack by navigating to the nearest supercharger, 30 minutes got me 56kWh which worked out to...

    Software Wish List.

Being able to automatically lock out seat heaters when outside temperatures are over 50 degrees F. Also automatically boost fan speed when driving in bright sunlight (my old Acura did this - it helped keep the front seat passengers cool when the sun is beating down.)

Why does FSD hug the center line-- even sometimes crossing over?

This is a long shot but:… I discovered three months after delivery that there was a protective plastic film covering the pillar glass and cameras between front and rear doors that hadn’t been removed (it had started to peel off on its own at a corner). The film was like the protective film...

Good to Go pass in WA state

I have the newer Good to Go plastic transponder bracket mounted to the right of the forward camera housing at the top of the windshield, as mentioned in the M3 manual, and can confirm the transponder works on SR 167 HOT lanes, NB I405 lanes, SR 99 tunnel and SR 520 bridge. I mounted it...

    TSLA and EVgo

EVGo chargers have started to show up on my M3 onboard navigation - some but not all. I successfully charged at one this week with my recently received CCS adapter. Total cost was about half of the nearest supercharger during the middle of the day (I set up a free account on their app) - even...

Automated Car wash - yes or no?

18 inch aero wheels (first comment should have said hug right rail) the aero covers would get damaged by car wash rail as they do stick out from the tire. I would imagine larger induction rims pose the same risk - but much more expensive to repair if damaged.

Yosemite SouthGate oakhurst to hetch hetchy and back in MYP?

I drove the east gate drive two days from Mammoth Lakes a couple of weeks ago leaving at 90% SOC each day and had 20% SOC remaining on return after 100+miles each way with at least 5000 feet elevation gain(and loss) each way. A Better Route Planner was much more conservative and insisted I use...

Automated Car wash - yes or no?

Plastic on interior rail of Costco (Hanna car wash hardware). I apply a very slight right steering pressure to hug the left rail while going through. No damage so far to either side of rims. Keeps my car clean with no clear coat damage - Never had an issue with my previous Prius or Legend...

    First impressions. Short Road Trip

I just completed a 7500 mile trip over 5 weeks - car delivered in June. Regarding the pillar cameras: same issue as you report. However, I discovered when washing the car during the trip that both pillars had a plastic film similar to the screen protector film applied to the car operating...

Hertz Employees Taking Up Entire Superchargers - Charging to 100%!

It would seem to me that a rental car company would want to install their own charging infrastructure to limit the time their employees spend to move the cars off site and back. Don't most of them have fueling systems set up for ICE cars?!? (at least the larger depots - airports and such)

8K+ miles Road Trip. 2019 Model S Senior Couple National Parks Bucket list Trip week 1 of 8.

Has anyone travelled the Beartooth Highway this year? It is hard to tell if the recent closures of the North and Northeast entrances of Yellowstone due to the June flooding are the only ones - Apple Maps suggests that one of the closures may re-open late July. But there are three - hard to tell...

Road trip range anxiety is still a thing?

Sprung for the ModernSpare kit and am in the middle of my first road trip - glad its in the rear trunk. Especially for the upcoming trips this summer where I will be off the interstates and likely quite a distance from Tesla service. Call me old school even if I never need to use it.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I prefer to use the carpet mats that come with the M3LR during the summer months and then swap them out with the all weather ones in early fall (Taptes for me). The all weather ones fit on top of the carpet ones but I didn’t lIke added bump above the floor.

    Tesla 2022 Model 3 Tires

With Hankook KinergyGTs 200 miles with sunny and rainy roads. Impressed with them so far - more concerned about tread life. Is the GVWR lower than with Michelins? (4866lbs on mine) I’ve been a Michelin fan for years but interested in having options.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

A couple comments after a short day of driving around: Like most fellow graduates - I really love this car! Hankook tires would not have been my choice - but these appear to be all-seasons (which I prefer for NW climate) and very low road noise - even on rough concrete which is common around...

    Software Wish List.

Time to start using your PIN to drive...

I’m no coding genius, But it seems like this BLE threat could be thwarted by having the Tesla phone app geo-fence the car. BLE could be disabled for the Tesla app unless it is close to the car. The phone app would know the location of the car when you parked it. If the phone was unable to fix a...

Thanks for the heads up! (no notice from Tesla that I thought I was signed up for). Maybe I’ll have something with the Tesla logo on it when I thought I would have the car…Got a J1772 adaptor too! Looking forward to that Alaska road trip where RV hookups outnumber charging stations.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Clearly I was overly optimistic with my EDD window starting Friday, Awoke to news of my EDD changing to (May 21 - June 25) - almost three weeks later than my original reservation just over two months ago. At least I have not completed the sale of my current vehicle. I hope Tesla can meet this...

$720 here in Washington State (Puget Sound area) as listed in my order details. I am not certain whether that includes the $150 EV fee which I expect to see every year.
