I’m close to replacing my 255/20/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and I’m considering the Hankooks too. Does the wheel stick out more than the tyre with the IONs?
I didn’t get a penny, despite signing up at the start. To rub salt in the wound the flex operating hours seem to have changed overnight which meant the car stopped charging at 11pm last night and I now don’t have enough charge for my work today.
No, I didn’t manage to solve it. I managed to sort some of the rattles from the hatch but the clunking/squelching noise from the rear corners/suspension when going over larger bumps is still there. I’ve learned to live with it but if you manage to make some progress over the weekend I’d be...
I read somewhere on here that some people in the US have been removing the rubber strip completely. I haven’t yet resorted to that in case there’s no way of refitting it if it causes further unintended problems.
I’ve also applied some of the fabric tape to the edge of the boot opening, and I’m sure that helps, but a small quarter turn adjustment on one of the upper bump stops made a big difference with mine.

They claim to be the highest level of complaint that you can make, in the UK at least. Depends what issues you have but they were pretty unhelpful in my experience.
Yep, there’s a thread here where a guy uses mayonnaise to confirm that the feet/bump stops are making contact with the body of the car. Soapy water will do if you don’t want to use mayonnaise!

You need to wind the feet/bump stops out so that they make a firm contact with the body of the car, but not so much that the boot doesn’t shut properly. Trial and error I’m afraid. Then apply a coating of gummi pflege around the rubber boot seal and also the door seals and allow to dry. That...
Yes, do keep us posted please. The lane departure message only seems to occur on my MY when the sun is low and ‘blinds’ one of the side cameras. Having said that, I haven’t seen the message recently and I remain on .5 having refused the recent updates.
1. Clean the rubber seals and the inside of the window then apply some gummi pflege to the rubber seals and allow to dry before closing the door - it silenced my window rattles;
2. Same again with the gummi pflege around the hatch seal but also adjust the bump stops as others have suggested;
3...
Connection issue seems to have resolved itself, for me at least. I haven’t updated the car’s software recently which suggests that the problem was with the network and not the car.
Mine has been in and out of service a few times and it usually comes back with a different problem than it went in for so I'm reluctant to raise another service request. Apart from the lane departure message the car is behaving so well that I'm tempted to take it off the home wifi and reject...
T5 Hilton was always full of taxi drivers sat around on breaks or waiting for their next jobs and there was always rubbish/food wrappers left on the floor so I can understand why the hotel might want to get rid of (some of) the Tesla drivers.
I bought the Bosch A871S. The smaller nearside wiper is ever so slightly shorter than the original, maybe a centimetre or so off the original wipe pattern but it does the job perfectly well and after a week or so I stopped noticing the difference, especially as the cost of the pair was less than...
15 mins free at Hilton Heathrow T5 this evening, thereafter £6.20 for an hour minimum via Ring-Go app. The miserable staff were tolerable before but now this is one to avoid.
It didn’t fix it on its own but I have added another liberal coating of Gummi Pflege to the main rubber seals around the boot and that has made it a bit more bearable. Strange how the rubber seals can create a rattling type sound.
While I'm waiting for the felt tape to arrive I have cleaned the areas marked on that photo with soapy water and applied some autoglym to the rubber strip to see if that improves the cacophony of sounds emminating from the rear (of the car).
Krytox lasted about a week on mine before it started rattling again. My latest experiment has been to clean the rubber seals and the corresponding inner part of the tailgate with warm soapy (fairy liquid) water so that both surfaces are lubricant free. So far so good but experience suggests that...
I adjusted the door seal so that it sat over the seal that holds the window when closed (see photo). I’m not sure if that on its own made much difference but together with the cleaning of the seal that holds the window and an application of Gummi Pflege along the top edge of the window (where it...
I have also had an annoying rattle coming from the rear window in my Model Y that would disappear by dropping the window a fraction.
In addition to applying lubricant to the door/window seal I also resorted to recalibrating the window switch, cleaning and adjusting the rubber seal and the...
72 plate by any chance? I think mine was also left half built during a lockdown and they forgot where they were up to when they started back. The rear of my Model Y rattles like a bag of cough sweets and I’ve also got the cold knee issue. It’s had more new parts than Trigger’s broom.
I got hit from behind a few years ago and despite the driver admitting falling asleep at the wheel his boss refused to accept liability so I had to go with a no-fault claim through my own insurance. Auxillis were the ‘claim management company’ and they dealt with the repair and also the...
I would steer well clear of Auxillis, speaking from experience once they’ve got you on the hook with a rental car the repair to your own car will take a back seat.
Is there any way you can avoid insurance altogether and just get the repair done yourself? It’ll end up costing you either way but...
Get used to it. When I complained about the abysmal build quality of my car (over 10 service visits in as many months) I received a fob-off email from Customer Resolutions that they hoped would “improve your experience and align your expectations”!
My Model Y is driving me nuts! In addition to the usual rattles and squeaks the rear suspension makes a strange pogo stick sound when going over larger bumps. I‘ve made a quick video with the noise in question - listen out at the beginning and also at about 11 seconds in. The service centre...
Agreed. My previous M3 that was built in Fremont was pretty poor quality but my current MIC MY is no better really and I've actually had more trouble with it than the M3. Easily the worst car that I've ever owned.
I’ve used Autoglym, Gummi pflege, felt strips and adjusted the bump stops on the tailgate but to no avail.
I’ve also had a rear shock absorber replaced because of a pogo stick type sound that has now returned when going over larger bumps.
The rear off side door and that general area is noisy...
Rear seat belts and front passenger seat belts are a source of noise. Plug them in if not in use and see if that makes a difference. Rear head rests can also rattle. I would then move on to check boot lid bump stops and rubbers as mentioned by others above...
I even had a shock absorber replaced but I think that was needed because it sounded like someone jumping up and down on a pogo stick when I was on bumpy roads.
I happen to have a bottle of this Autoglym in the garage so I’m going to give this a go too. I’ve sorted some of the squeaks/rattles but there is definitely some creaking going on. 4 hour journey to North Wales last week was a real world test of my sanity.
Here’s a useful thread on the rattles - Fixed all my rattles from the rear seat and hatch!
I adjusted the rubber stoppers and that sorted out a lot of the noise from the boot lid.
There is a ‘fix’ for the centre rear headrest that can also be a source of rattling - How-To - stop rattles and...
Exactly the same squeak/rattle on my 2022 MY on the ceiling trim just behind my right ear. I haven’t quite got to the stage of pulling the car apart yet but I’m not far off it.
I’ve always thought that was because the loan car wasn’t linked to your account to pay for charging but I have noticed today that the loan car that I am currently driving now appears in my app and is linked to my account. Haven’t tried supercharging it though.
If it helps, I was told to wait for the firmware update too but on the basis that the car didn't drive in a straight line at motorway speeds and was therefore unsafe they took it back and replaced the steering rack.
