Walmart as well. I could have purchased and had them installed in the US, but that would have been during our yearly drive to SE Arizona, and I wanted them installed at least a week before we headed south in case there was any issues with the tires. Having them installed enroute would have...

Recurrent: Model 3 drivers got 72% of EPA range with new cars, 64% after three years

I get about 72% of EPA when cruising on the Freeway at ~80mph (130kph). When cruising at 60mph (~100kph) I get the EPA combined range.

    Supercharger - Lordsburg, NM

Thanks! I hope it hasn't been cancelled. It's a nice location for a meal. OTOH, the EA station at the Chevron, about a mile west, is quite reliable, and the Ultium station at the Lordsburg FlyingJ is nearly complete.

    Model 3 without daily charging

Sentry mode will use about 3-5% per night, IIRC. Some apartment complexes that have exterior AC outlets in their parking lots, will let you charge using the outlets, as long as you pay for the power used. Your car will report the amount of power received. I charge my model 3 in our apartment...

    Model 3 without daily charging

Your car will be fine. However, you should turn off sentry mode, and don't precondition the cabin to minimize power consumption when the car is parked. Also a simple exterior AC outlet makes a perfectly fine charging station for someone with your driving needs.

He states that there is a top buffer so 100% indicated SOC is actually about 95% true SOC and while holding the battery at a true 100% for many days in high temperatures would be problematic, charging to 100% briefly is not, and is required to balance the cells and give the BMS an accurate...

12a x 120v = ~1.4kwh* - (charging losses + car overhead ) = ~1.1kwh into the battery or about 7km of displayed range/hr. Reducing the amps to 11 reduces kwh by about 8% to about 6.5km/hr of displayed range. * theoretically 1.44kwh but IME I seldom ever get 120v with somewhere between 115-119...

80% is the NEMA 5-15 recommendation (for the outlet and a 15amp breaker) but the manufacturers may cut some corners on the assumption that the load will be a hour or so, I know from experience that NEMA 5-15 outlets can get quite hot if the pulling 12amps for ~10+ hours. I'd rather pull 11amps...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

We have to face the fact that Elon spent $44 billion to buy Twitter via a late night tweet. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knew that this was the way to take at least 1/2 of that $44 billion, put it in a pile and burn it. Buying Twitter at that price was not a rational decision and his...

The previous reply should address all your concerns. When I charge from a 120v outlet, I typically lower the charging current from 12amps to 11amps for a NEMA 5-15 outlet and from 16amps to 15 or 14 for a NEMA 5-20 outlet (you'll need the correct adapter plug for your TMC for a NEMA 5-20...

IIRC, you can update your current appt via the app, by stating that you also have charge port issues.

Why the extremely large Supecharger sites?

I've charged there on a week day, during a week that included Thanksgiving and the site was at over 50% capacity. The I-10 corridor from LA to Phoenix is a very popular route for EVs. The thing is that its much cheaper, per charging post, to put in lots of posts. During the same drive, we...

I bought my 2022 M3 when and because the CCS1 adapter became available as I didn't want to rely solely on the Tesla SC network. help, older breaker box can't accommodate another 240-volt breaker,

So there's insufficient space in the panel or insufficient capacity? What amperage is the main breaker? It might be cheaper to just put in a larger panel. If the panel has room for another 120v breaker you could add a 20amp 120v breaker use that to feed a NEMA 5-20 outlet which would allow...

Today we were driving west on Bakerview in Bellingham WA with FSD engaged. Choosing between two models, taking into account range and charging habit

Does the 2021 SR+ have an LFP HV battery? The LFP battery can be charged to 100% daily vs a recommended 80% for the 2019LR. This means that the difference in range may be minimal on a day to day basis. The 2021 should be more efficient and it may have some remaining warranty. and if so, is the...

FSD 12 perspective from a previous skeptic

Does anyone sell a Wall charger / outlet switch?

Tesla MCs all come with a 14-50 adapter plug and most Tesla owners will have one and many non-Tesla EV owners will have a 14-50 compatible EVSE, Providing a 14-50 plug will do double duty for most EV and RV owners.
