    Cybertruck Odyssey - Solihull

    Apologies...you are quite right. https://global.honda/en/heritage/episodes/19874ws.html#:~:text=At%20the%20end%20of%201977,wheel%20steering%20(4WS)%20system.

    Cybertruck Odyssey - Solihull

I had a gen. 4 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC on the late 1990's with 4WS.i was a great system - at low speed all 4 wheels turned in the same direction, at high speeds, they turned in opposite directions. It was a very smart and effective system and miss that car to this day. Does the Cybertruck...

    Cybertruck Odyssey - Solihull

Saw a couple recently 'in the wild' in Florida, including following one for sometime on the I75 (having just watched Lando win his first F1 race! 😎) Whilst not apparent in the picture due to driving into the late evening sun, in both instances the panels where unevenly fitted, and looked to...

    Bought a Model 3 from a 3rd Party Seller

    Seems an unnecessarily rude response.

    Bought a Model 3 from a 3rd Party Seller

I don't think the tyre issue is at all surprising...it's pretty standard practice for much of the used motor trade to replace worn / damaged tyres with cheap ditch-finders. Irritating, but in no way illegal. The 'pulling to one side' issue would concern me and... assuming this is a purchase...

    carbon fiber rear spoiler deterioration

PS....I mentioned your notion that good quality CF spoilers could be knocked out in China for £7 a pop and....how shall I say....he thought this 'somewhat unlikely' (I paraphrase / expletives removed!!!!)
  8. Whyone

    carbon fiber rear spoiler deterioration

As stated by people more knowledgeable than I above, real, good quality CF items are not easy nor cheap to produce. If you paid £100, it is unlikely to be a good quality item. My source of information is a friend who works in the Red Bull F1 composites department.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

As well documented here, I am no fan of Tesla and the way they have gone about their business over the last couple of years. However, if you really believe this, you are seriously delusional!

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

That is a very accurate and succinct summary of the issue.

    Good bye

Frankly, I'm quite content to just buy a car and for it to remain as-is for the period of my ownership. I'm sure all car companies have their moments, but none appear so overt as Tesla's. And some do appear to act with reason and compassion - Honda for example, back in 2012-ish needed to...
  12. Whyone

    Good bye

Correct.....they make a very attractive second hand purchase - ~£65k for a low mileage car. If I go ZL1, it'd be a new car. @KerrySkates - yes, I was already thoroughly disillusioned with my treatment by Tesla when they deleted USS (I'll not re-hash that story again here) and it now seems...
  13. Whyone

    Good bye

Enjoy the Ionic 5 - it's an interesting car, and great IMHO that Hyundai are doing things to make their cars look different. I certainly won't be buying another Tesla after the way they handled the USS removal fiasco, though I will most probably revert to ICE....I fancy something with a large...

    UK Pricing piss take

Like some others here, we used to routinely buy our cars in Europe - 3 Honda's (including an S2000 which I ran for 3 years / 22k miles and sold for £500 less than I paid for it) and a Renault. Saved many, many thousands of pounds vs. best offers I could negotiate through UK dealerships.

The last pre-facelift (so pop-ups :) ) NSX sold in the UK. Still have it today

Tesla service & maintenance: the biggest difference with legacy car makers?

I am very, very happy for my car not to be rubbed down with a gritty rag!

Tesla service & maintenance: the biggest difference with legacy car makers?

Because OP is based in N America...Canada to be specific.

    Hows your adaptive high beam?

Had my 1st drive in the dark last night since the update to activate proper matrix functionality. 5 or 6 miles along twisting and undulating Sussex lanes. I could see the lights doing what they do, but was also flashed by 3 oncoming cars...I probably only passed 10-12 on the whole drive, so...

Spoiler install - Best double sided tape

My car is an LR and they told me the wouldn't / couldn't code it as spoiler only fitted to P?! Interested to hear if other have had a different outcome?
  21. Whyone

Spoiler install - Best double sided tape

Pretty much this! I did used the adhesion promoter mentioned and warmed both surfaces with a hair dryer before attaching the spoiler -:it's important to measure, test fit and mark with masking tape precisely where it is going because the 3M VHB tape does 'grab' under these circumstances.

    What’s your job?

Computer modelling geophysicist. Retired...but now consulting again on fun projects. Work has taken my to 40-odd countries on 6 continents (Antarctica eludes me)....I like to travel!

    Thinking of selling

I decided to retire at 59 (kids all grown up, no debts...computer modelling geoscientist resolving hydrocarbon ownership disputes)....after 12 months found I was missing the work, but certainly not the company / office politics. I now cherry-pick projects which interest me, working for people I...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

I agree, and all credit to @edb49 for resisting this demand, though I completely understand why others might just accept this and be done with what must be a trying process. Tesla customer service at its finest.

    2024 Insurance Costs

Where is the risk?! You run the quote, if its sufficiently less to merit cancelling/paying cancellation fees/accepting new quote, you go for it. If it's more / not worth the hassle, you've lost nothing more than a few minutes finding this out!
  26. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

    Agreed. Utter madness.
  27. Whyone

    Corrosion

I suspect that mudflaps will not necessarily prevent this - there will be an accumulation of road grit beind the mudflap and this will slowly abrade through the paint. The fact that the mudflaps hide the area means the rust is more likely to go unnoticed and get a proper hold.
  28. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

Seriously....if the insurance is looking crazy, I would consider cancelling your order.
  29. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

Exactly this, as I also noted a few days ago on this thread. Leave the insurers valuation alone when you are getting a quote. The time to go to war on this is if the worst happens and you are not happy with what the insurance co. offers for your car - reject the offer and build a case for a...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Yep, as above, we are much closer to 50:50 (erring more towards in excess of 50% at 7.5p)
  31. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

Yes, true. Though neither my son nor I saw a jump last year ...indeed, my premium fell, as it did again this year (albeit only by about £20 this time around).
  32. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

Good news - there seems to be a reasonable.number of renewal quotes coming through with little change ATM (including both my son and I - both M3's).
  33. Whyone

    Tesla Alternative?

Two things.....if it makes it to production it won't look like that, but it will have VW's software and firmware inflicted on it.
  34. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

As mentioned previously in this thread, look at comparisons through cashback sites - these can yield ~£35-£50 cashback.

    Battery drained to zero

Agreed....if you let the car 'sleep' it really shouldn't be an issue. I've left my car for 6 weeks and it's only lost 3-4% charge and I suspect a chunk of that would have been in the first 24 hours. Having said that, is leaving the car for 3 months in an airport carpark really the most...
  36. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

Yep, exactly this. You are probably hurting yourself financially by bumping up.thr valuation for an insurance quote. The time to fight with them is in the event of an insurance write-off. I went to war with my son's insurance company when his car was written off - rejecting their initial...
  37. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

I do not believe that a self-adjisted valuation will carry much weight in the event of a claim. For that you need an 'agreed value' policy.
  38. Whyone

    Choices choices!

Completely....and I am inclined to agree (sorry!!) but the Y, to my eyes, takes poorly resolved proportions several steps too far.
  39. Whyone

  42. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

So if it really is as easy as you say for someone to disrupt the motor insurance world and have themselves a successful, profitable business, why has no one done this I wonder? I've been called many things in my life but never a 'proper tory'! As for the "I'm alright jack..." quote you so...
  43. Whyone

    Tesla Alternative?

True. And sadly you cant unsee them.
  44. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

If you really, really cannot afford the insurance, what else can you sensibly do?! If you think that by ranting and raving on an online forum and preaching insurrection, urging people not to insure/use their cars that things are going to change, you are impressively deluded!
  45. Whyone

    Tesla Alternative?

Another tip when searching for insurance renewal - look at the Topcashback comparison. They may or may not offer a competitive quote, but if they do and you take out the policy through the link provided, you'll get (currently) £40 cashback.
  47. Whyone

    2024 Insurance Costs

As I said earlier, if the insurance gets really to expensive, change to a car that's cheaper to insure. Seems a more pragmatic solution to me than yours.... Incidentally both my (M3 LR) and my son's (M3 RWD) premiums fell when renewed aver the last couple of months, so it's not all one way...

Yes, that is all sorts of rubbish. Hope it is all sorted out soon with a minimum of fuss and expense.

    Model 3P resale prices

Yep, they can certainly try ones patience....and a lot of (especially younger / less experienced) folk will tell them to carry on.

    Model 3P resale prices

Yep, that's doesn't surprise me at all. My son's SEAT Ibiza Cupra (ICE) went in to a franchised dealership near us for something fairy minor. They did a 'complimentary health check' (good of them!) whilst they had the car - sent a video announcing that it needed new disks and pads on the...
